  1. I know the difference between open loop and closed loop, this was not the problem. This occurred while the system was in closed loop... it was essentially an emission defeating feature... http://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/Pre_96/November95/596.txt.html Only link I can find on short notice. Thanx this paragraph made the light bulb burn brighter "In 1991, GM designed a new engine control computer chip to respond to customer complaints of stalling and other drive problems in the 1991 Cadillacs. The device nearly tripled the output of carbon monoxide when the car's climate control system is on -- for heating or cooling. The instructions on the computer chip enriched the fuel (increased the amount of fuel relative to air), which overrode the emission control system and resulted in multiplying the carbon monoxide emissions. For the 1993-1995 model years, GM again failed to disclose the use of the device or its adverse emissions effects."
  2. "Cadillac had similar problems in the late '90s when the EPA discovered that under certain conditions (full throttle) the computer would ignore emissions concerns completely" That's the way all GM computers at least up to OBD II (maybe even later) were programed its called open loop. Closed loop is when the computer is in control.

Hmmm...I'm 6'0, 240lbs, found the CTS easy to get in and out of...what are you, 6'8" and 500lbs? (j/k).... Huh?? An '82 de Ville is more like 4500-4800 pounds, isn't it? That's a huge car... All ya wanted to know and then some Spec's
  4. "The Volt can only take 3.5 KW an hour of charging." Oldsmoboi Is that @ 110 or 220VAC?
  5. & shout!
  6. Yeah didn't I read that Chrysler was outselling them here last month?
  7. But I think that hooked to the USB the car's radio would do the decoding not the IPOD if hooked to the speaker jack the IPOD would do the decoding

I'd take a look at your O2 sensor and a good tune up as that car is able to pull down at least 22-24 city been there done that got 34 HWY mpg with mine

Seriously happy for you and Chevy(GM) as we need to hear that the Cruze Eco gets hybrid MPG #'s at real world $. I can't imagine what e-assist will be getting on a Veranio in the real world hyper miled

Thanx for the update nice to see a regular owners point of view on this and not a tree hugger site or the likes of Edmunds or CR. I'd relay the interior comments to the GM Zone Rep I'd like to believe that they would want to hear from you on that point. Driving in Low/Sport what would you compare the Volt to as in a conventional sporty car? Please keep us abreast & thanx again.

  19. eco gets 44+ mpg in real world use i don't think diesel will be part of the cruze lineup 1.8 + stick is a nice combo actually but cruise should have been added. it would be nice to punch those in the face at GM who still pull this non customer friendly crap On the Diesel issue the Cruze would compete with the Jeta better, while being upscale helps the character of the car would be spot on with a diesel manual. If you don't stretch that mileage out past the Hybrids then GM will miss the boat . Granted Cruze ALMOST beats Civic Hybrid but still misses the boat, besides the diesel row your boat would be quite fun the model should be named EcoSport. VDubb has made it's intentions well known so GM should rise to the challenge and beat them at their own game. Add hatch & wagon and you've got VW on the ropes, the hatch is available (GME) the wagon needs to be made(Holden?) The Cruise Control issue is a no brainer, agree with ya there plus how upscale is it w/o cc?
