Official: Saturn is Dead, Pontiac is a Ghost
Don't count Pontiac dead yet. After all if the market gets good again that could be good for Pontiac.

The e-mail video that General Motors Corp. sent to its Saturn dealers last night was an odd mix of apology and pep rally.
Olds was killed to save Saturn, and I was pissed. Saturn deserves to die, because if Saturn didn't go we all know Pontiac would. Saturn never could become Olds so why didn't we get rid of Saturn in the first place when Olds was actually making gains with Lexus-like customers with cars like the Aurora? The email is odd and think Saturn will be gone for good in 2011 unless some crazy dealers take them over and "brand" Saturn cars from other company's or a China brand buys them (more likely).

Official: Saturn is Dead, Pontiac is a Ghost
I think the current plan just might work. I do have some hope for Pontiac (now that Saturn is toast) getting an Astra along with a fresh G6, a MCE on the Solstice keeping G8 with some updates and Vibe for the model cycle they could stay viable pretty easy. Saturn can be either dropped or taken over by the dealers which ever they want to do, just stop taking GM's money and give it too Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC and Pontiac where it belongs. As for the Vibe and G6 specifically my "small town" GM dealer has three Vibes, 2 G6's and cannot keep the Vibes on the lot and also has been moving lots of G6's with 4 cylinder six speed automatic combo. Sold more G6's in the past year than the new Malibu and nearly as many as they did Impala's.

I got a new car
Audi/Porsche and VW models always look kick ass with BBS wheels expensive but well worth it. Good luck with your new car and good choice.

Los Angeles Times: GM's past and present collide in sibling rivalry
I think there is some of that in Crown Vic and 300 buyers still I see some of that in Camaro buyers. Generally speaking buying the new Camaro will be "classier" than those who got the old one, and the red-neck mullet image is only associated with Camaro because alot of folks have gotten them used, not the people who really loved the car and actually paid for it new.

GM disbands unit that creates high-performance vehicles
I agree Camino but it will look good to all the dead beats in DC that GM is working on "green cars" and not performance ones. Stupid f*ckers.

This means no Z28 Camaro, oh well if me or my son got one it would only be an SS anyways.

Not sure I agree with that, but it is a good point of view and well taken none the less.

I would bet not, unless someone buys Saturn it is gone. Sorry Saturn in its early years had a purpose now it doesn't.

Yeah so does that mean we get a select few Pontiac models? If so and they are trimming the tree that is fine, not great but so long as they live.

Point well taken but I have not given up on GM or fun cars, I just am against giving the government more control over them. We all know what the politicans want us to drive.

Lutz: Despite good cars, Saturn probably dies ...
Thank God it is about time. Buick and Pontiac can pick up some new models, helping make them stronger brands now that Saturn is toast. Saturn had a place in the 90's but ever since the dawn of the Vue and the like I knew they were going down hill. Nothing could save them not even a new line-up. If you would have given that to Pontiac ro Buick I will bet the results would have been different. GM is finally taking some of my advice kill Saturn. Trust me I will not miss that brand or its products, how about a Pontiac Astra?

No they won't be able to do this, just watch chapter 11 is coming and it is going to be better that way.

In the mean time I pray they will file for chapter 11 tomorrow, and that will really put GM back on track maybe not tomorrow but in a few years it would be a better option.
