NG STS proposal
GM could continue to make features available and content and price the vehicle according to option packages. Much like they do already on their product. I really dont not know that there is much of a difference in the current DTS/STS with the 7 or S in terms of available content. Some electronic mumbo jumbo but nothing that would add significant value or volume to the product. The current STS just needs to be repackage being slightly longer and significantly wider. Content is fine.

Pontiac Still Will Sell Front-Drive Cars
True. If you look at retail sales of the current GP - they are only about 50k/year. Any switch to rwd in that segment will not increase sales significantly - unless it is a break through product. Certainly a recyled Commodore would not be considered break through even as a near term solution. Even looking at the B-P-GMC Division as a total unit and trying to balance their complete portfolio to maintain current sales - I just do not see it happening. It would be one thing if the mid sized SUV market did not collapse and killed any gains the Arcadia might have made. The Buick Enclave might add 10-20 to Rendevous number but will have to subrtact out the Raineir volume. The G5 migh add 30k unit of questionable profitablity to the bottom line. Might I add the loss of 10k from the GTO next year. And sooner than later the novelty of the new 900 utlities will wear off and this year so far they are only on par with last year in sales. Tough call - what the best solution for the B-P-GMC Division and how Pontiac best fits into it.

Pontiac Still Will Sell Front-Drive Cars
There just are no plans to move the volume product to rwd in the time period I mentioned. After that, 2015 or so is a long time and a lot can happen. Closest in the next 4 years would be zeta and that will not be high volume??

Detroit's Midsize SUV Problem
HUH I believe BW is just reporting the facts. Sales are down in the mid-sized SUV segment since Sept. 05. That is fact. GM, F and DCX are heavily leveraged by the mid sized SUVs. That is fact. The only thing missing in the BW article is FOG is full of crap again. Even still, that is still fact.

Pontiac Still Will Sell Front-Drive Cars
Soon I would define as the next product cycle release + 5 years. And that is in a perfect world. No one is debating the idea. It would surely give focus to the brand but that is no guarantee for success in the market, paritculary given the investment required.

Pontiac Still Will Sell Front-Drive Cars
I would - Pontiac may ultimatly get some rwd vehicles but I would not count on the majority of volume for the brand coming from rwd anytime SOON.

Death of the V8?
Na a title is a title - it is the words in between the books jacket that are important. I do not think Mein Kampf was a coming of age book, which to some the title might imply. It was the words after the title that held the most weight.

Ha ha - How can anyone argue with one that claims to be "the light, the way and the truth." Last time I heard that proclaimed there was a crucifixtion involved! With him, I know it is tempting ...

Being No. 1 no longer a top priority for GM
His point was, GM is a lot bigger globally than what is reported in the US press and media. Less than half of GM's sales are in the US.

Being No. 1 no longer a top priority for GM
It is easier to spell it out - CHINA/GM-DAT/EasterEurope(Russia).

Again, Brilliant post! Very insightful. You have said nothing yet again.

Being No. 1 no longer a top priority for GM
GM produced and sold more vehicles globally last year than ever before. Last time I believe GM did that was in the 1970's.

I tried to make the data more visual friendly. If nothing else the data should spark discussion.

NG STS proposal
And don't forget the GMX276 vehicle on top of the STS/DTS replacement. The NG STS/DTS whatever it is called should compete with the 7 and S on size but not on price.

Annual Meeting
I think I framed a well thought out rebuttal to the BM's comments on DPH and this is what I get back from the BM in return. The ramblings of a raving lunatic. Really, I do not know what to say. There is nothing I can say.

HELMETS
Agreed, though I would never in sound mind drive a car without a seat belt or ride a bike w/o a helmut, it is my choice and should not be mandated by the states for occupants over 18 yo.

Where is the BM? I think he needs to take account of his lies.

Annual Meeting
All: Last December on GMI, the BM brought up this same point with regard to DPH. I posted back to the BM a link to a 1999 DPH SEC disclosure where DPH stated that their labor and legacy cost in their US operations was an on going concern for continuing operation of the corporation. DPH did not deceive investors as the BM would like people to believe but did lay out the problems the company had even prior to the spinoff and IPO of the stock. Investors that took the time to do their DD were not fooled. DPH IPOed at about $19.00/share, and never reached that high again.

Annual Meeting
Deception? Have you ever read any of DPHs SEC filings starting with the spin off in 1999? It is in there. The only deceit is your continued slanderous posts. You are dishonest, deceitful and a fraud. Not to mention a fool.
