The only thing I can say about this thread is that it reminds me of the Inquirer tabloid.

Return to Greatness
He is another Michael Moore from Flint. He talks a good game but there is no substance in what he says. He has been ducking and running questions and follow up since he reared his head back in May. When Josh asked me about him very early on I though he could have been a good asset to the board because of his background but he only turned out to be an asset minus 2 letters.

Return to Greatness
GM employees were dishing out employee price coupons long before you have spouted you plan. I know, I have taken advantage of it a couple times already over the past couple years. But since you refuse to use any logic at all, how many vehicles do you really think it adds to the bottom line. A couple thousand by my estimates. Think about it. 90% of GM US employees are in MI. Where would they most likely give out there referrels to? GM Suppliers are already eligible for employee pricing. The pool in MI keeps getting smaller and smaller.

A portrait of My Industry
GM and GM's directors know what there problems are. Contraints of the past are very difficult to overcome. You just can't ripe up contracts, design better products, reorganize the corporate structure, implement and execute new systems over night. "Some argue that we have no one but ourselves to blame for our disproportionately high health-care "legacy costs." That kind of observation reminds me of the saying that no good deed going unpunished. That argument, while appealing to some, ignores the fact that American automakers and other traditional manufacturing companies created a social contract with government and labor that raised America's standard of living and provided much of the economic growth of the 20th century. American manufacturers were once held up as good corporate citizens for providing these benefits. Today, we are maligned for our poor judgment in "giving away" such benefits 40 years ago." GM became a welfare organization with its only reason for existance to support their retirees. Every which way their hands have been tied and contrained. They could not think outside the box, when they can not get out of it.

Return to Greatness
New ideas. You have been shown countless times from many of us from inside the industry that your ideas are not new and won't work and are easily copied by other manufacturers. The O.C. bullet comments show that in this thread as did mine and others 6 months ago. What makes The O.C. comments even more robust is that he has stated numerious times he spent years in the VSSM org. The most interesting thing in your statement is "proven effective." Show us the data instead of opinion.

Return to Greatness
My advice buy GM stock and forget what the knuckle heads in the press or other misinformed opinions write on the board.

Return to Greatness
Turbo200: Don't you see, unknown to me until recently, Toyota and Honda both saw the wisdom of Step 14 and made it there own. Have you not seen the recent jump in their sales. Their adoption of Step 14 is the reason. There is great vision and wisdom in Step 14. I must stand corrected.

Return to Greatness
When was the last time you saw a Prius commercial? The car that sells itself. Novel concept! Over 7,000 happy buyers last month alone. Without much marketing. It has been 6 months since the 20 Pts have been made public. Toyota, Honda, Ford, DCX etc, have yet to adopt any of them. I wonder out loud why?

When General Motors sneezes ...
Have you read the plan? Have you analysed the 20 Points?

When General Motors sneezes ...
Maybe if you present some data that shows, your "common sense" plan will work, you would have an ounce of credibility with GM. The problem is you don't have any data to support you opinion (plan). Your plan therefor is just opinion and you know what they say about opinions! I still have yet to see any competitor of GM implement any of your "Twenty Points" in their own buisness model. And, it has been 6 months since your plan has been made public... have you ever thought why? Six months ago I said I would revisit this discussion and see what other manufacturers would implement the "Return to Greatness". And I just did.

LaNeve: We still haven't made up the business
Just like Chevy and the Fiero.... <_< Still trying to figure why an Alero is all that different from a Grand Am - other then the Grand Am sold more , that is the only difference
Sleeker styling, better-looking interior. Nice colors. That's about it, but it does make a difference. An Alero is more a car you can take to a night out or to work and not have people laugh at you.
Still, they're so similar so most of the comments made about it are BS. Same engines, same transmissions, same suspension, same platform, same features, same greenhouse (sedan only), same doors... the only real unique thing about it was front and rear styling (and greenhouse on coupe), interior styling, wheel styling, and not much else. That and styling is only subjective. A matter of opinion. It can never be fact and some use this against the Grand Am. Personally, the Alero is more of a pure design, but it has on one of the ugliest rear-ends I've seen. The interior is just bland in my eyes. Better, yes... but so unoriginal. As for getting laughed at in a Grand Am... well not where I live and if people did... I'd do something about it. ---------- Anyways, Olds used to be the only other GM brand that I liked. The rest had no special connection with me.
BV your nadir I fear has yet to come. This board seeks new lows all the time. I used to really like sharing info and discussing auto around here but not any more. It has just become more fun to incite the idiocy among the mentally challenged. And even that has gotten really old. It is just like Howard Stern throwing a Frisbee to blind man in his movie. It is funny at first but...

Honda scores with new pickup line
If I remember the article correctly, they were cutting 3000 units in the first quarter of next year. October sales have been strong. Honda sold close to 5000 last month. Everything else in the article was opinion.
