  1. "Buick is desperate to become hip." True dat... And THAT is why that OBJ commercial sucked big time... Not only is the "Not your father's Oldsmobile" shtick old and stale...from the Oldsmobile days...that angle for Buick has also come to an end....Buick should have ended that last year and for this Superbowl...number 50 might add, should have been something unique... Oh...because using an up and coming football star coining his own bloody name is pure marketing genius... Because Buick has not hired an athlete before in its recent past to pedal their cars... Because other car companies havent hired celebrities to pedal their cars before... At least Montalban was sexy, had a sexy voice and the cars he pedaled had fine Corinthian leather... The reason why Im giving you a hard time here is that you want to dismiss Tesla so bad, that you even want to dismiss their commercials yet obviously give a pass to a very mediocre effort by Buick for that stolen "This aint your father's Olds" campaign with a very very FORGETTABLE performance by the future NFL football star... At least withTiger, we could still picture him inside his SUV while his ex smashes it...too bad for Buick he was driving a Cadillac Escalade... You want hip...WHOOMP! THERE IT IS! The fastest growing hip sport Golf, and thegame'sbiggest star, ever, cheating on his wife...and then getting his SUV smashed with his own Golf clubs by his wife... Now THAT is hip! There is your commercial! All we ended up with is an ad campaign from the late1980s early 1990s with a couple of floozies at a "marriage" jumping for flowers and the guest speaker blurts out Adele... ooops...Odelled... Maybe they should have used Adele instead....look at that cleavage... I bet you that that cleavage could get guys in a Buick showroom faster than OBJ ever could... So...how about cutting Tesla some slack?
  2. At least the hockey team is a Chevy... I ORIGINALLY WANTED TO QUOTE BLU AS WELL...I FAILED!!!
  3. At least the hockey team is a Chevy...
  4. I thought the game started at 19:00 hours yesterday. It started at 18:30....luckily I was recording it... OK...this is where my random thought really starts: I thought I was gonna catch up to the live broadcast at half-time...because...who the hell listens to Coldplay, Bruno MArs and Beyonce anyway? I know I dont... Well, lets just say I continued being about half-hour behind...(behind...yes, carefully chosen word) I was looking at those legs...those are mighty fine legs... Here, let ZZ Top say a few words on my behalf.
  5. Well Reg, I guess Tesla's commercials are not as epic as what we saw from Buick yesterday... Yeah...I mean a couple of broads trying to catch a bouquet of flowers and a couple of idiot guys saying that they "Odelled it" and then they couldnt believe the convertible was a Buick just oozes betterer baby puppy monkey baby monkey puppy... Awesome machines. Both of them. Somehow this song is appropriate for this moment... Because in a way...the Golden Age of Horsepower is NOW! A Second Coming... The Charger is a modern old school muscle car while the Tesla represents the future... Enjoy! PS: If the rat pack was still alive...Frank and Dean and Joey and Sammy, they'd be robbin' them Casinos and their getaway cars would be these two...obviously wwith scotch in hand and cigar in mouth. Swing, baby! 18-Karat rides!
  6. Well...good luck in your mid term tomorrow Suave... The only math Ill be concentration soon is: A field goal = 3 points A touch down = 6 points The extra kick if succesful = 1 point Therefore 6 + 1 = 7 points for a successful touch down! LETS GET READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL!!! And good luck to you Suave!!!
  7. Just like the movies, eh? And THAT would be Canadiana from me since we are into making fun of cultural identities...
  8. OCN's Amish paradise... Ive got another hour to go before Kickoff. So...I youtubed Amish Paradise just to listen to the song again... :roflmao:
  9. Québec WAS a leader in this highway infrastructure recharging thing only to step off the gas pedal 2-3 years ago... However, last year, Québec announce billions of dollars in rebooting the electrical charging grid. I forget how many electric cars the Québec government is pushing for y 2020, and its a lot... Plus...Québec has signed deals with the Province of Ontario to share the costs for the electrical charging infrastructure with Tesla so you could include Ontario and Québec along with the North American West coast. I dont feel like posting proof of what I said with links, too lazy, and if someone requires evidence, just ask me...Ill provide...Google is one small step to achieve the proof... So yeah...electrification of our roadways is more than on its way, its already here and only getting bigger... Think about how long it took to acheve gas staions at every city corner... Well, it will take less time to achieve electric charge stations at every single corner. Because in Québec, there is also another way to charge an EV... Grocery stores and restaurants and hospitals and the like all have partnered up with Hydro-Québec to install charging stations for their clients... The city of Montréal is already putting charge stations with their parking meters...that would be part of the billion dollar investment I talked about... I bet you Los Angeles already has that in their city, but at least we are pro-active as well...
  10. Or yeah, Like Suave mentioned, a Mazda Tribute or Ford Escape. Two great vehicles which are basically the same thing and no issues. Well... that Im aware of anyway.
  11. Is it official though,Balthy? That the Vue used Honda's 5 speed transmission... And if it indeed was Honda's unit, was it as problematic as it was in Acura TLs and Honda Accords and Honda Odysseys? And did the Saturn Vue's transmission with that Honda V6 actually have issues... Just questions that need answers because you might be missing out on a very good vehicle. I just wanted to shed a light on the transmission issue because I am not sure myself, so I wanted you to be aware of potential problems. But these potential problems may not exist with a Honda sourced Saturn Vue V6. These issues are very real for Honda's vehicles though...
  12. I found a Car&Driver article saying that its one engine....for both V6 regular Vue and for Red Line Vue. http://www.caranddriver.com/news/the-shock-of-a-hondafied-vue-car-news
  13. Why Hyper? You dont have a sense of humor? Are you that into yourself that you cant laugh a little? Block me all you want...I aint NEVER going away!!! And the more you resist me, the more Ill bug you, until you remove that stick out of your
  14. The motor might run forever, but did the Saturn Vue Redline come with Honda's 5 speed automatic? Because I know that thr Vue Redline did in fact have a 5 speed auto...and if its Honda's unit, that automatic had issues staying intact...so while the motor might be flawless, expensive repairs to the transmission will be made...
  15. On a MOPAR kick. In a restomod pro-touring kinda way.
  16. Several posters from Cheers and Gears called this car vapor ware.... I think even Peter De Lorenzo called it vapor ware also. And now I believe them!
  17. So a Dodge is a Testarossa is what you are saying? Not a Ferrari as I originally thought....HMMMMMM
  18. Yup, Suave. Same thoughts about wishing the 2016 was indeed the Camaro we got in 2010. If anything though, I do prefer the Camaro's interior over the Mustang's. As far as sight lines go, I really dont have an issue with it. I recently drove a 2013 model. V6. Not much worse than a 1979 with those shade things on the back wrap around glass. I have been gravitating towards the Mustang since 2005. I have never taken sides nor loyal to any of the two pony cars of the Mustang/Camaro wars... But since 2005, the Mustang is winning the battle. King Cobra versus Rallye Sport and the 6.6L wins. 5.0 versus IROC and the GTA wins. 4.6 versus SS and the WS6 Ram Air wins. In the 1970s and the 1980s, the Camaro gets the nod over the Mustang since I HATE the Mustangs of those years. By default, the Camaro gets the nudge over the Mustang. In the late 1990s/early 2000s, the Mustang and Camaro get equal treatment of liking from me. I like a Steve McQueen edition and a Cobra R as much as Ilike a 1997 SS 30 th Anniversary and final 35th Anniversary...but its the Trans Am, that takes it all each and every time. So...as you guys could see, Im really not biased against one or the other. I calls it how I sees it.
  19. Its not JUST about a product placement movie.... Its ALSO about a design that was first introduced in 2007...we are now in 2016... About the Mustang...the GT350 had nobody around it as nobody knew it was a GT350... The regular 2015/2016 Mustangs had just as many droolers as the 2016 Camaro had... a slight difference in interpretation there... Only but the hardcore enthusiasts? We are talking about pony cars called the Mustang and Camaro, now arent we? Because talk to ANY pony car enthusiast, you know, the one that buys his brand new 2016 Camaro or Mustang and also buys the baseball cap that has the Camaro or Mustang logo on it and he wil gladly wax poetic about a resto modded, Dynacorned body shelled pony car of his choice... There is a reason why Dynacorn offers 1966 and 1967 and 1970 Mustang body shells and 1967 and 1969 Camaro body shells... I said I was gonna buy a Dynacorn body shell...the real;ity is I wont....I dont have the space to build one, nor to store one when completed. Same reason why I dont already own a toy car for the week-end... With that being said...I dont think the Camaro will be a sales dud...but I donty think iot will age well either... Look for a quick face-lifted refresh as early as year 2 and a total body rework in the very short term like in year 3 or 4 is what Im sayin'...
  20. 3rd thought of the day. The Mustang of 2005....was a retro styling success of a 1967ish Mustang, and up until its last year of production in 2014, it went through enough exterior changes for it to be a slightly different car from when it was launched in 2005. Not that the Camaro was not a styling success judging by the sales numbers it achieved, but not enough styling changes were made to it either... I get it...small styling changes to générations 2 and 3 never slowed down in the sales department while generation 4, the Camaro sales took a steep downward spiral...so amybe that has something to do with Chevy's reluctance to change up the styling. But in my point of view...the 2015 Mustang is a much cleaner and fresher design doing retro while the 2016 Camaro is just dpoing the same 'ol dance routine. Im bored of it... OK...I was bored of it by 2010.5 so I may be a tad biased. Unto the Challanger. This has got to be THE best retro ride of them all. And the little subtle styling changes they made to it only made me fall in love with it THAT much more. Because MOPAR, when they decided to do a retro Challenger, they hit the styling out of Fenway Way Park/ Yankee Stadium....or should I say Tiger Stadium... The modern Challenger, like its similar ride that its based on, turned out to be a timeless design. The 1969 is also a timeless design...too bad the modern retro versions are not.
  21. OK....First and second thoughts of the day... Yes Mr. DFELT...an electric motor in those is what the doctor ordered. And unto El K... My beef lies with Sam Witwicky... Not only that... 1st gen....1967-1969 2nd gen....1970-1981 different departure 3rd gen. ...1982-1992 different departure 4rth gen...1993-2002 different departure... Keep in mind that the last 3 gens., a decade went by before a new gen arrived and the LOOKS became very long in the tooth by years 7 or 8... And when finally the new cars arrived, they were a breath of fresh air....like something we have never seen. Styling overtures...only to become bland by years 7 or 8... 5th gen...2010-2015... We are already 5 years into this same look. Actually longer since Sam Witwicky drove one in 2007. To boot, its a retro model of a 1969 model...that wasnt done with perfection... So the 6th gen comes along from 2016.... By George, Im all retro-ed out with this look. Its a dated look that dates back to 2007...yes...its almost a decade... Like generations 2,3 and 4...the styling design has peeked at about years 7 or 8 in... Its old news. Its bland. Its passe. Its been done to death with it being a retro from 1969... And yet...a pro-touring restomodded approach of a 1969 model actually looks MORE modern and fresh...go figure.
  22. Final thought of the night. Sorry El K. About the 6th generation Camaro compared to the 5th generation... Besides the platform change and the 6th gen being more svelte, visually speaking...there is NOT a lot of difference. Maybe I need to change my prescription on my eye glasses, but that is how I feel. Sexy...yeah, the 1969 original to which the 5th and 6th gen is based on is sexy. These new machines, not so much. Again, to these aging eyes. A brand new Camaro purchase for me would be this: A virtual trip to Year One...for a Dynacorn body shell And everything else that Year One and other aftermarket shops sell new-old parts such as fenders and grilles and all other modern technology hardware for it. And the project would end up something like this: Maybe even buy two of those body shells and the second project could turn out like this: So yeah....those would be sexy...the originals...
  23. ^^^ Casa's speech just proves to me that the XLR was a half-baked idea... 1. Corvette under the skin or not...in which the Chevy was better than it or not... And I forgot....thanx Casa for the reminder....the C6 was debuting...maybe the XLR should have been a C6 instead of the C5 under the skin... Visions of Mercedes Benz old roadster and old engine being transferred to Chrysler for the Crossfire...and we all know how that turned out for Chryco and the Crossfire....so why would THIS situation be any different? 2. Engines being what they are...a supercharged Northstar SHOULD have been the standard engine in the XLR....and like Casa states, why shouldnt the 505 HP V8 been a part of the XLR? Because its a Chevy engine? That did not stopped Cadillac from using that particualr Chevy V8 engine later... 3. The interiors of GM at that point in time...well, we all know what it was...no need to go back there. Sure, maybe Cadillac had some nice materials then, people did not notice, because whether Bvlgari was over paid or design simply sucked, the interior of the XLR simply did not woooo and wow anybody. Like I said...half assed rather than half-baked. The C5's interior might have been cheap, it was better than the C4...but at least it looked better than the XLR....it looked more sportier AND more elegant... How the eff could that be? Well, it was... And this is where the ELR comes in. While the ELR is a striking vehicle to look at...it aint majestic. Many people have different views on poolside: American arrogance, self indulgence, and over confidence is seen both positively AND negatively by different people. The ELR WAS NOT the RIGHT car for that commercial. The ELR, while being a coupe, fits perfect for that stigma...its a GREEN oriented car. The looks itself, while beautiful, it aint IMPOSING enough. Its too small. Aston Martin cars are also small, but Aston Martins have a majestic look about them. They have that road presence as if they were a 5 ton SUV...The ELR does not possess that. Going back to the XLR...there was a sight lost in translation from the Evoq concept car. The front end with the head lights and the back end with the fins that were prominent and the somewhat widebody effect were scaled back considerably on the XLR... Although the XLR was gorgeous, it lost all the Cadillac aggressive presence that made the Evoq such a jaw dropper...and the name just suited it perfectly... What we got was a watered down Arts and Science car with a name like XLR...a dirt and grime cleaner rather than such a befitting name for a Cadillac roadster...Evoq! Cadillac hopefully learns who they are, and maybe they could give the world what they want from Cadillac. Poolside is EXACTLY what people want from Cadillac. Including Europeans... Especially Saudis and Americans!
  24. I just googled....the CT6 will be making its Canadian debut... We had the Camaro as a Canadian debut. The Cadillac XT5 was also there..as a Canadian debut. So was the Buick Avenir and the Acura NSX all as Canadian debuts... Toronto could kiss my .
  25. Yeah...440 horses for a C5 is definitely not under powered... I forgot about the V variant. I still wanna see a XLR down the road, but as a BMW Z5 competitor rather than a M-B SL roadster competitor. I still wanna see an ELR down the road. But a 100% all electric Karma Fisker type body Cadillac...4 doors and sexy. Or 2 doors and sexy. Like a new Aston Martin DB10. Not that the outgoing ELR aint sexy, but it aint long hood/short deck and majestic kind of sexy.
