Chrysler News: FCA Reports Earnings, Updates Five Year Plan
Yet another 5 year update... And the 200 and Dart are done with....but no plans to replace them, because obviously 30 dollars a barrel of oil is surely a permanent thing...with no plans of any EVs either, because the Chevy Volt and Bolt and Prius and all the other Electric Hybrids are not what the future hold because that future is all about Trucks...SUVs too... Good... Now that Sergio has graced us with that info that Trucks are the future, with SUVs...I take it he is pushing for this its because its the money making machine that Chryco offers for his Italian brands... He might as well just kill off Dodge, since RAM is its own brand, kill of Chrysler as Jeep could inherited the Pacifica and call it the day...no more 5 year update updates every 2-3 weeks...

Cadillac CT6 Review Thread: Post Them ALL Here.
That is elegant, Casa. From the school of less is more. The FWD STS interiors from the 1990s all the way to the early 2000s were elegant, and the direction that Cadillac is taking now reminds me of that time. But with better materials and fit and finish. They are finally finishing what they started from when the STS was introduced in the early 1990s.

EV Conversion, Does it Make Sense?
That aint cool. Its boring. I bet you somewhere on this planet, somebody already has done this... As much as I love LS swaps myself, its at a point where it aint special or unique anymore. LS swaps have been done to death. An electric conversion Suburban would be the shiznit though.... There arent many of those.... Festiva with Zeus juice flowing, now THAT is what I wanna see... Give the Bolt a run for its money.

Ill be the third to complain about that too. Is it that expensive to just nix that black plastic trim and make it the same beige colour like the surroundings? Oldsmobile had the right idea in the late 1990s to early 2000s.

So much anymore cars are totaled because of the cost involved. I do not think this will change much. I had a co worker with a large luxury car that was still derivable after the crash get totaled. The car was tweaked enough it was not worth fixing. He was ok with that as he is getting a brand new one. This is true for all types of consumer objects. It has been true for the last 20 years. And with some objects, 30-40 years. Cheaper to buy new to than to repair... Is that a good thing though? I aint an eco zealot, but one still has to wonder what in the world are we doing here?

Cadillac CT6 Review Thread: Post Them ALL Here.
I like how Casa broke down the marketing strategy for the CT6. Its dead on. And seeing how Cadillac positioned the 1st and 2nd gen CTS, this strategy seems similar. I think the CT6 will kill it and I think it will steal some sales away from the Germans... Maybe the CT6 dashboard does not have the wow factor of the Germans, namely the Bimmer and the M-B...but to me...that kind of flash is like silicone breasts...nice to look at, nice to fondle, but you do tire of them quite fast. A little movie clip that the CT6 made me think of... And this scene too. Germany never could build a quality Whiskey! Im sure SMK will defend that statement by bringing in

2016 Malibu 2.0T Drive
Yeah. Dark Blue for me too. Beautiful shade of blue. Made the Malibu look very upscale. I also sat in a Chrysler 200. It was a 200C. Strangely enough, I dont remember what the exterior colour was, nor the interior colour. I do remember it was two toned with white being one of the colours. I liked the fit and finish and the way the two tone hues blended together, but Id rather my Fusion and the Malibu over the 200. I did not feel comfortable in the 200. The Fusion is my wife's car and she chose it for herself. I guided her towards it, I STRONGLY suggested we get it for her, but ultimately she decided that she wanted for herself. With that being said...if we were in the car market NOW for a car, I think Id STRONGLY suggest the Malibu over the Fusion... But for me the order of preference is as follows: 1. 2016/2017 Fusion Sport 2. 2016/2017 Malibu 2.0T Premium 3. 2013 Fusion 1.6 liter Ecoboost 4. 2016/2017 Malibu 1.5 liter 5. 2016/2017 Fusion 2.0 or 1.5 liter ecoboost

2016 Malibu 2.0T Drive
I sat inside a 2.0T Premium at the Montreal Auto Show. I was impressed by 3 things. 1. The amount of space the car has. Up front. In the back. The trunk. Its a 'family perfect' car. FINALLY! 2. Keep in mind this was the Premium trim, as that was the badge it wore. 2.0T Premium. The fit and finish and the materials in the car. Impressive. Better than my 2013 1.6 liter ecoboost SE Fusion. 3. The driver's door opens very very wide making it very very easy to get in and out of the car. I liked that for some reason. The car looks nice in person, it has a nice look about it. But you could tell its Johnny Come Lately in the looks department. You could tell that GM is a follower rather than the leader in this insytance. This look has been done before...3-4 years ago. Sure it looks fresher than my 2013 Fusion. My Fusion has also been on the market for 3 years now... The back end is the nicest angle. The side profile is nothing new as we've seen this before with Hyundai, Ford and the countless of other cars in this class...even Toyota beats the Chevy by 1 year with this type of look. The front end is bizarre. Its pleasant. But bizarre. It reminds me of the Pontiac Aztec. But the Aztec was ugly. The Malibu is pleasant. I think its a front end that Id tire of very fast..I dont think the front end will age gracefully.

JANUARY CAR SPOTTERS THREAD
You really do do the extremes. From lake effect winds and snow and hurricanes, to extreme cold and hot to extreme humid all the way to extreme dry. To extreme heights (Colorado is a high elevation, non?) The only thing you are missing is the extreme low...(New Orleans) Maybe that is your next stop? PS: Just to say that as cold as it was last year, Montreal had it easy as compared to other parts of North America last year. Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota and Ontario (Toronto region) were all colder than the Montreal region...again, we was lucky. (I am not including Calgary, Edmonton, or Winnipeg because these guys ALWAYS get that cold.)

Which ones...the ones from Galapagos or the ones from DeMet/Nestle? I prefer the pecan, caramel ones...although the ones from Galapagos are very interesting specimens themselves.

JANUARY CAR SPOTTERS THREAD
I've seen a 6000 STE around here a few times in the last 6 months or so..very well worn, bumpers cracked, not sure what the original color was..very sun faded (kind of blueish gray) A/C likely not working (windows down)...still rolling. Summer is surreal here, but some keys to surviving: Cold A/C at home, in the car, in the office Plenty of cold beverages of your choice and lots of water big hats, sunscreen, cotton/linen clothes access to a swimming pool good tires, cooling system, and battery (car batteries last 18-24 months max here) covered parking is great, underground parking even better You know what is funny? THAT is the SAME list for Quebec. But slightly different. Opposites. For the Winter obviously... HEAT... at home, in the car, in the office Plenty of hot beverages of your choice to help you stay warm, especially of one skis or skates outdoors. big hats, scarves, gloves, clothes that breathe so you dont sweat...and layered clothing to peel off if one gets hot... - access to a swimming pool - I dont have anything that comes close to that....OK...maybe warm shelter to keep away from the wind. Montreal has the biggest underground city in the world....its on the same level of our Down Town subway stations. Lots of shops, corner stores, restaurants, boutiques that are NOT connected with the shops and restaurants on street level. Some stores are connected by street access via their basements...a couple of cinemas and the like...very cool place to be in the wintertime. good tires, winter tires preferably, but now they are mandatory, cooling system for heat and for the constant defrosting of the windows, good winter window wipers and battery because when the temps drop 40 below F or C...same temp at 40...the engine needs lots and lots of juice to turn...the oil is practically frozen at those temps...not quite, Im dramatizing, but the oil is very sludgy... (car batteries last 5-6 years here, so not so bad...) covered parking is great, underground parking even better...same here. Especially when there has been 2 feet of snow that has fallen over the course of 12 hours or so...see New York City over the week-end...we was lucky in Montreal. Or when the temps dip...40 degrees F PLUS the windchill factor. This year, we have been lucky. I dont think we will see that this year. But the last 2 years was brutal...

JANUARY CAR SPOTTERS THREAD
Mr. Cubical. That makes sense. Winter time for you folk is the good weather for cruising. Summer must be unbearable. Just like our winters...unbearable. That Pontiac 6000 was a winter beater. The thing is, it did not have any rust on it, nor any visible dents. It looked like a winter beater as it had all that salt deposit caked on to it, but other than that, looked good.

JANUARY CAR SPOTTERS THREAD
I see some nice rides in my neighborhood during the summer. In the wintertime....jackshyte. Well,I did see a grey 1987 or 1988 Pontiac 6000 the other day. I havent see a FWD GM A-Body in years. Made my day...not for the car, but because I saw the car and fond memories of my teenaged years flooded my brain.

Well... Even if we talk about the 2000s and the 2010s... Like I said...TOYOTA IS AT BEST ON PAR...with GM... So...when Frisky, tries to defend Toyota when I said to chalk up one more reason why I hate Toyota and he brings in Toyota reliabilty and Balthy just let him know that Toyota reliability is a myth and he in turn tries to lambaste Balthy with his preference for American cars is when I bring in the 1950s, the 1960s, the 1970s and the 1980s and the 2000s and the 2010s to show Frisky that Toyota really has no REAL track record of reliabilty... What...the 1990s? Because a Toyota Supra was offered as a Twin Turbo option? Because we all know that a Toyota Camry in the 1990s had engine oil sludge problems... So...if I cant bring in the 1950s or the 1960s, or the 1970s, or the 1980s...what years could I bring? Keep in mind that Toyota has been selling cars in the States...since the 1950s...late 1950s... Toyota was CRAP all THEIR YEARS here! Like I said...a Corolla from the 1980s, because the Corolla in the 1970s was a rust bucket, and a Camry form the 1980s, a 4Runner and an SR5 from the 1980s a Supra from the 1980s and 1990s that were rock solid does not make a company far better than GM... GM's reputation stems from ALL decades...even the dark years... GM has had rock solid vehicles innthe 1980s and 1990s too... So... Ill repeat...If I cant hate on Toyota for building crap since day 1 in this continent...when could I hate on Toyota? Because....oil sludge problems and unintended acceleration problems and pick-up trucks that fall apart because of rust or bad frames is quite recent you know...nothing to wave a flag for...

Not worse reliabilty... Toyota AT BEST, is at least ON PAR...with GM over the years...tally up all the late 1950s and early 1960s Toyopets, to which they were ran OUT OF THE CONTINENT and all the rust buckets that Toyota sold all through the 1970s...and some of the shyte they sold in the 1980s and then all the recalled crap they sold ALL THROUGH THE 2000s and 2010s...and you know what, Frisky? Ill change my tune and say that Toyota is DEFINITELY SHYTTIER than General Motors ever was...

Yup...I hate Toyota all right. It has to do with that crappy Toyopet and the Cressida of the 1980s being shyte though... Kinda like how many Americans, including yourself, that has a HARD TIME LETTING GO of GM's crap...FROM THAT SAME TIME PERIOD that is THE 1980s... Its funny, Toyota makes some tuff as nails cars, but many many many shyte ones...and you slobber all over that... Yet, GM also makes some tuff as nails cars, yet also makes many many many shyte ones too, yet you have never defended GM so vehemently as you defend Toyota or BMW... Why is that? Yet you want to lambaste the 90% of the posters here...but these posters here are...AMERICAN...I think its LOGICAL why these posters here would defend GM...not so much Toyota...as Toyota is...JAPANESE... Aint nothing wrong in liking something Japanese... But...why are you so perplexed that you want to make an issue out of Americans loving AMERICAN things? Especially when Toyota hasnt really been that stellar in the reliability department selling cars to Americans... At best, Toyota's reliability in the USA has been ON PAR with GM... So...I know I have kinda butted in this conversation, but not really as you also found a problem with ME not liking Toyota earlier, So...for me at least, I dont care how bullet proof the Camry or Corolla may or MAY NOT have been. Alls I know is that GM and Ford has been pretty good with me...and for the U.S. and Canada...so...Ill continue to like GM and hate on Toyota... And Ill continue to make a mockery with anybody trying to tell me otherwise about Toyota...or BMW...or Mercedes Benz...or any other "foreign car maker" that sells their vehicles in North America and pretends that those companies NEVER sold SHYTE here...but want to flame GM every chance they get...

Not significantly more. A very minute amount. Besides...GM did that #1 in total sales thing for about 80 years in a row... ALSO...it does not change the fact that Toyota proved to be JUST AS CRAP as GM was in the 1980s and 1990s... ALSO...when GM was at is highest...Toyota was selling this POS to the American public... So...Frisky... Ah....never mind...the picture of that God awful Toyopet is punishment enough for ANYBODY that defends Toyota...

Toyota's shyte apparently does not stink... Anyhoo...let me reiterate why I dont Toyota... But...I could forgive and forget if this was in my drive-way... NOT the same thing. WHY? Because THAT is NOT a MIDDLE EASTERN Toyota HILUX sold and bought by terrorists... THAT is a Toyota SR5 for the North American peace loving people enjoying a good movie about the good 'ol days when Rock-N-Roll was King. AND....I just NEVER felt ANYTHING for Toyota...so...Ill stand by my initial statement... DAESH certainly does help in adding any love in my tummy for Toyota... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KSSOFlbvr3E Anyway...lets feel the love for Detroit Iron pick-up trucks!

another used car shopping endeavor
I dont care for the other cars you mentioned...but about that C4 Vette... Lets talk about that... The years BEFORE the C4 Vette was introduced, there was a dark time in the automobile industry. Just before those hard times. Good times were had. OK... The good times. 1. All cars used leaded gasoline. 2. horsepower wars galore. 3. torque was abundant. 4. Cubic inches ruled the world. The bad times 1. Engines slowly got off of leaded gasoline. 2. Catalytic converters were installed. 3. Insurance rates for high horsepower cars skyrocketed 3. Oil and gasoline was restricted because OPEC. so...engines suffocated and made literally no horsepower... The C4 Vette comes along... The engines BEFORE the LT-5 that resided in the C4 were just engines from an era that muffled horsepower. However, when the LT-5 arrived, a new Chevy small block also arrived, the LT-1. And this new LT-1 was engineered without the lazy 1970s oil embargo, catalytic converter, unleaded mess of "crossfire" V8 crap... The LT-1, upgraded to LT-4, made just about the same amount of horsepower, more torque, more reliable, smaller package and cheaper to build... THAT was the end for DOHC in a Corvette. While the DOCH LT-5 ZR-1 Vette propelled the Vette in supercardom once again like how big block and small block Vettes were of yore...the LT-1 and the LS-1 small blocks and their derivatives have propelled the Vette in a stratosphere where many DOHC exotic automobiles wished they were. Reliabilty. Ease of maintenance. Daily Driven robustness. And very high horsepower with an equal amount of torque... So no...DOHC really did not improve the Vette...

GM News: First GM Ignition Switch Trial Is Dismissed
Well, Ill agree to that sentiment about GM's ass being handed to it only on the the aspect of when GM tried to cover up their cheapening of the part. NOT in situations like this court case... Same with Takata. But, not to be shut down... if THAT were the case, then Ford, GM, Chrysler, BMW, Honda, Subaru, Toyota, Mercedes Benz, VW and others along with General Electric, Apple, Microsoft, Intel, Sony, EXXON, ENRON, Goldman and SACHs among a helluva alot of others have commited fraud, theft, pollution, death etc...should also be shut down... I mean, that would be roughly about 99.999% of ALL corporations world wide...where would we go from there? Ive said it before, and Ill say it again...it is NOT the company as a whole that should pay the price, just the people involved with the scandals... The big wigs should rot in prison, because although Im a Greek Orthodox Christian, I somehow sometimes dont believe there is a God so them rotting in hell might not exist...so..rot in prison, but the good people that are still left in the corporate businesses they represent that were NOT involved should be allowed to run the companies...because the companies themselves are still responsible for millions of people...and the products they produce are still important for our lives...

Well, I just hope you realize that numerous nonprofit outfits use Toyotas to reach areas that are far outside of modern civilization for positive reasons. Medical specialists delivering supplies and care to villages that don't have access to healthcare. Conservation units that actively patrol wildlife preserves to protect endangered species from poachers. So on and so forth. The very traits that makes so great as tools for warfare make them great for good things, as well. Like I said...Marty McFly's ride I could live with... Its called a joke, Frisky. Ive made this type of joke and connection before. Something about BMW and Mercedes and WW2... But there is some truth to my bias though. I wont lie... On the same level of why I prefer real names to alphanumerics, its the connections one makes with associations. Id rather be seen in a Mustang, or Charger rather than a Fairlady Z. If I was King Midas Id rather own an Eldorado rather than a Silverado. So yeah, sue me If I dont want to be connected in any way with Hitler or ISIS with BMW or Toyota.
