Lincoln News: Lincoln Wants More Standalone Dealers
The Fusion is getting killed because they can’t manage a brand nameplate properly, the car was never inherently lacking competitiveness. They could do a modest redesign of the interior of the Fusion to make more modern, and do a mild refresh of the platform to cut weight and they’d have very good midsize that could take on anybody in the class.

Review: 2018 Mazda CX-9 vs. Volkswagen Atlas
I agree with this write-up. The Mazda is the better car if you viewed every day as it’s own occasion. But the VW is flat out the better 3 row family crossover.

That’s what I was going to say. you go back a 2-3 F150 generations ago, and then this Ranger looks an awful like a heavy midcycle refresh of that same style.

I think what’s worse is the studio lighting Ford uses. That’s a dreary black interior in reality, not a sheen of grey with the leather quality being so far from reality. Though I do think the Ranger exterior is the best of the bunch. And the steel bumpers really have a hefty look to them.

Subaru News: Import Tariffs Will Cause A 'Big Impact' At Subaru
I would not mind if the Envision went extinct, and cars like the CLA that are made in South Africa were gone, and the EcoSport was made an even bigger flop. That would actually be amusing because literally any alternative to those products are vastly better. Besides Alfa’s would be toast and would most of Fiat too. Those are brands that add little value to the North American market. Practically every luxury make that imports would have to have more of a manufacturing presence here. When every country that imports from America has high tariff or non-tariff barriers the playing field has to be levelled. And I really do like the administration demanding an exact up to detail measure of just how much a vehicle does contribute to the U.S. economy. If Ford got 67% of their revenues from Japan then maybe it’s make fair sense. and even the quality of earnings, since China manipulates its currency automakers don’t nearly make as much of a profit due to China. Even at double the volume of cars sales America is still a far more lucrative car market compared to Asia Pacific. But no automaker deserves any protection. Go after all of them. The rest of the world does it, and guess what? Automakers bend over backwards there anyways.

Subaru News: Import Tariffs Will Cause A 'Big Impact' At Subaru
The Forester sells crazy amounts here, nowhere else as close. and we all know why the Envision doesn’t sell. Subaru gets 67% if its revenues from U.S. Not China, not Japan. And tariffs would make cars more expensive if you could never substitute domestically manufactured offerings but it sure as hell isn’t inherently 25% more expensive to make parts and assemble them in the U.S.

Buick News: GM Seeks An Exemption To Exclude Buick Envision from Tariffs
they sent 6 mos of Envision stock and Envisions stay about 5 1/3 mos on the lot before selling. Talk about over production. The car is over produced in China, and I believe now the real reason why the Envision came to U.S. market is because it didn’t sell as well as GM had hoped. The Envisions competitors in China are the same as here.

August Auto Spotter
I saw a bright red Model 3 today. In person I find the car a fair bit more attractive. It’s definitely a Tesla anyone can tell. And the paint finish was pretty good. The whole car length glass is mind boggling actually. Why do that though when there’s no sunroof option?

Industry News: New Proposal by EPA and NHTSA Reduces Fuel Economy Targets, Remove California's Ability To Set Standards
I thought that the American makes had the most to lose. think about it. Ford and GM’s sedan market share has been obliterated over the last 2 decades. Then you throw in FCA, when has Chrysler introduced a new sedan that didn’t get cancelled in the last 2 decades either? Then you you look at even utilitiy sales of domestic makes being encroached on. You’re left with the pickup truck, where it’s the last unassailable stronghold of American makes, and it’s because of the Chicken tax. America does not know or want efficient vehicles and electrics would be a great alternative if there was a public appetite to fund that infrastructure. And in the Midwest and other places where 3/4 of the vehicles are trucks or utilities you’ll have a hard time convincing anyone that their already misused tax dollars should be entrusted on gov’t to rebuild the infrastructure for tomorrow.

Buick News: GM Seeks An Exemption To Exclude Buick Envision from Tariffs
I actually have nothing against Buick, it’s just that the Envision is class average at best. It’s comparable to a Lexus NX. That’s faint praise if any. I’d much rather get an XT5. Not that much more expensive but you just get a much better auto. but it truly is nowhere in the league of GLC 300 or RDx or XT5. But yeah you can crow how at 25% off MSRP or 84 month notes it’s a steal. That’s fine.

Buick News: GM Seeks An Exemption To Exclude Buick Envision from Tariffs
This same company got bailed out by taxpayers, is now rewarded with the Trump tax cuts. The Envision is pathetic and the competition is light years ahead. I know what you would say to that @dfelt Tax that thing out of existence I say, it’s a burden on our society and here’s the case where an import tax will ensure that the domestic make isn’t being incentivized to be mediocre cause it’s protected.

Quick Drive: 2018 Subaru Legacy 2.5i Sport
I always and still to this day wonder why Subaru’s logo is not called the Blue Oval or Japan’s blue oval. also like thematically Ford and Subaru, now that I think about it...Like the perfect marriage of brands that sell utility and lots of it?
