Poll: Up votes/Down Votes
What it boils down to is that children will play. We all know what's what, so let's just roll our eyes at the shenanigans and get on with the show.

Car and Driver Tests CTS. Car and Driver Likes CTS.
In this case it was an AWD 2.0T with the new eight-speed auto. They did wish (again) for a simpler interior and wondered if a 5.8 to 60 time was indicative of an "overtaxed engine" (say what?). But the new eight-speed drew raves, getting better FE scores and acceleration times than their last 2.0T, which was RWD. Cadillac News: Cadillac Announces XT5 Crossover To Debut At Dubai
Could it be.. in some weird and crazy act of fate that the fact that it is their sole CUV for sale have anything to do with it? Dood. That's HEAVY I don't understand how some folks can be so down on a brand for no rational reason. The irony in your last sentence, is mind bottling. (Is "mind bottling" a thing?) I clearly said "rational." You clearly missed it. Quelle surprise. Anyways... It is a spiffy SUV Cadillac has here.

Ya, when I read that I got the impression it would be more of a conventional drop, like a Trackhawk suspension. But air springs would be cool, fer sure.

It would be nice. Variable height suspension is a cool thing. Introduce it on the Eacalade and then spread it through the lineup.

Why GM should NOT build a DOHC V8
Twin turbo V8 engines will be a lot of things. "Peaky" is not one of them, unless you go out of your way to retain that feel, like the Ferrari 488. Under load, it may exhibit fuel consumption more in line with a large N/A V12, but as long as any potential efficiency gains are stated in this light it should be a non-issue. My understanding is that Cadillac is pursuing this mainly for brand-differentiation and NVH reasons anyhow. If they go ahead with it it will doubtless be a great powertrain.

I doubt it'll get the dry-sump. There's plenty of underhood space and you aren't really going to affect the centre of gravity by using it in something this big. I'd say the most likely situation is it gets the full CTS-V tune and transmission. At roughly nine pounds per horsepower you could be looking at 0-60 times in line with a 392 Hemi Challenger. Top speed would require some lowering, but it might be able to get to 187. Maybe.

Autoextremist Drives CTS. Autoextremist Likes CTS.
People will buy what they want to buy. If you give them top-notch engineering, styling, and comfort then they will pay less attention to past reputation when making their purchase. To me brand snobbery is buying a brand for the sake of the name, not what the brand is capable of manufacturing.

Possibly both. Depends on the strength of the LT4 install, I guess.

They are both peaky. They both must be worked hard. Pretty straightforward comparison. Like I said: they're not my words, they are Car and Driver's words. As I have told you many, many times before, if you have a beef with a car mag, go write the car mag. I just report what they write.

If you had said 1955 I would have said "great Scott!" and built a DeLorean. Missed opportunity.

http://m.motortrend.com/wot/1509_cadillac_escalade_v_on_the_way_with_ctsv_power.html So basically, it's entirely possible that the Bentley SUV will only be the world's fastest SUV for a cup of coffee. Yowza

Toyota News: Revealed: 2016 Toyota Prius
This car is just another step in the game Toyota is playing to see how awful they can make their products before folks will finally realize they can do better elsewhere.

Why GM should NOT build a DOHC V8
Uh-huh. In much the same manner as, say, a Honda S2000. I await with great interest the numbers generated by an Alpha Camaro SS, as well as those generated by the Shelby. There will probably be some interesting results.

Internal displacement, to be precise. But ok. At this point I am content to sit back and let the stopwatches (eventually) tell the tale. I am predicting 0-60 times in the 3.8 second range on the GT350. It will be quick, and you will have to work to make it so.
