2015 Car & Driver Lightning Lap at VIR: Z06 and CTS-V Effin KILL IT!!!
I was also a bit taken aback with the Mustang GT's stats: 43 grand as-tested, well over 3800 pounds, 3:05.2 seconds. By way of comparison, an Alpha Cadillac sedan packing roughly LT1 power weighed a smidge less and did the deed 5.4 seconds quicker. It bodes well for the Chevy, is what I'm saying.

2015 Car & Driver Lightning Lap at VIR: Z06 and CTS-V Effin KILL IT!!!
Once again, C/D brought up the octane-rating issue with running EB engines, and they also speculated that heat soak might have been an issue. A bit of a letdown for 39 grand, fer sure.

Why GM should NOT build a DOHC V8
Not sure what part of "I kinda don't let Mopar off the hook" you didn't get. Spare us (mostly me) your whining.

The more likely culprit is the torque rating on the transaxle. You could chip one back to RWD specs, but you may wind up with shrapnel and red goo in your driveway after a while. Not sure why this got a downvote. I used to work for GM and I know that they pushed the torque ratings on their transaxles pretty hard.

Why GM should NOT build a DOHC V8
A few reasons: -Mopar builds fun stuff that I like. -I kinda don't let them off the hook. When's the last time I praised the Dart? -Mopar doesn't have a paid shill cheerleader posting every single company press release. -Mopar has product development dimes for Ford's dollars, and manages to make fun stuff that I like. ...so, yeah.

Why GM should NOT build a DOHC V8
I'm sure the automakers have taken this post under close advisement. In the meantime, Ford continues to saddle folks with EB's sketchy fuel economy. As for their N/A engines, the ones that spring immediately to mind are the 3.7V6 (cob) and Coyote (nice, but why does it still have port fuel injection?). Ford doesn't do anything special when it comes to engines, with the exception of the flat-crank 5.2. Nobody is losing any sleep trying to keep up with them.

Loving the downvote for stating the obvious :D

Pushrods are cool. GM is THE manufacturer for enthusiast rides right now. They got the power, they got the handling, they got the braking. Amazing to behold.

Why GM should NOT build a DOHC V8
Absolutely. I read here that Ford is doing so well with those engine configs, but then I read their advertising and all I see is EcoBoost all the time. And, of course, then there's the usual stuff that the spiel leaves out: the conpetition isn't resting with pushrods. Bottom line: Ford has their way, as do everyone else. In the context of this thread, GM has pretty good choices regardless of how it chooses to go.

Updated 2016 Cadillac CUE. So Fast and Smooth (A Review)
It's like any of those systems: it started out awful, and it got better, and quickly at that.

Why GM should NOT build a DOHC V8
It's a nice spiel. And yet, I see very mixed results for Ford power plants, especially on the FE end of things. It would appear that there is a yawning gap between theory and execution. Pushrods have a place in the automotive universe, and will continue to going forward.

The message is fluffy. The messenger is his own worst enemy. Zero sympathy. When the messenger associates himself so closely with the message, it inevitably leads to hurt feelings being reported.

Nah. Just cut off the PR nonsense at the source.

Even from the nosebleeds, you can tell the difference between the speed of an R.A. Dickey knuckleball and some other pitcher's fastball.

Once again, speaking for myself: if wings posts stuff on a topic directly from FoMoCo's website, I will usually regard it the same way I regard pop-up ads on websites, and for roughly the same reason.

You already have, if the rumors are true.

2016 Cadillac CT6 "Order & Reference Guide; Official Weights Published
If you consider the Lexus LS or the Jag XJ "tweeners" then yes, this is a tweener chassis. In reality it's right there size-wise. The only difference being that Benz and Bimmer no longer offer regular-wheelbase variants of their big cars over here.

Poll: Up votes/Down Votes
Normally I would agree. But in some cases it doesn't matter what approach you take, some folks simply will not get the message. Ultimately you may just be better off leaving things as they are, since I'm pretty sure most of us realize that the voting system is just a symptom, not the actual problem.

Why GM should NOT build a DOHC V8
There is a time and a place for pushrods on the racetrack as well. If there were not then we would not be getting excited about the return of the Ford GT, because the original Ford GT40 almost certainly not have existed to begin with. Or the Shelby Cobra. Or the Shelby Daytona Coupe. Or...

Poll: Up votes/Down Votes
Speaking for myself, if I get consistently downvoted on a particular topic, then I know I'm rustling SOMEONE'S jimmies. I'll still comment on that topic, but I may include a joke about being consistently downvoted whenever I do. By the same token, I will consistently downvote stuff that I don't feel adds any meaningful insight to a topic. I usually wind up calling it PR fluff (and have noted that the term has found usage in other places since it started being used by folks here. Follow the leaders, etc, etc). If mods are doing stuff just to stir the pot... well, you can't do that. Troll mods are a surefire way to destroy a place's reputation. Trust me, that's a lead you DON'T want to follow.
