Quick Drive: 2017 Acura MDX
I have not driven Explorer so can't say how it drives but every comparison many car magazines ran rated it quite poorly, Explorer Platinum starts at $50k, MDX with technology package is $48k and I am not sure that Explorer will have more equipment from a quick look on the website. I do like how Explorer looks, and personally I like it more then MDX but I don't think I would buy it over MDX. I also would like to say that showing my wife a bunch of three row CUV's and asking her to rate them just based on their appearances I learned that women look at exterior very differently then men, and since most of these CUV's are driven by women our opinion is irrelevant. If my wife says she likes MDX better I will get MDX even though it might not be my choice

Quick Drive: 2017 Acura MDX
I think it is great mommy mobile, my wife loves previous generation and would love this one. But as was said in the review I think MDX with Technology package is where the sweet spot is for the best value, not the top of the line. I think out of all the AWD CUV's up to $50k MDX is probably has the best driving dynamics.

Item: Chevy SS Sedan
Congratulations on the awesome car! Hope it serves you well for many years. I think it is an instant classic. I think very few people realize what car that is, so you will be able to surprise quite a few knuckleheads. Going from a regular FWD sedan to a high power RWD performance car can be tricky, so take it slow and easy, especially in bad weather, I would suggest you to go to a few local autocross events where you can explore the handling limits of the car in a safe environment at relatively slow speeds without danger of wrecking the car. It is a lot of fun and very educational.

BMW News: BMW's M Division Believes Manual and Dual-Clutch Transmissions Are Coming To An End
Most people that autocross do it for fun and even pros that I know that do it on a national level don't make any money doing it. So unless you have a specially modified pro race car and you are pro racer, seems to me pointless to buy auto just for 6-8 events you going to run a year. In addition, most autocross courses I know - you never have to go beyond second gear, so that is one shift for the whole run, that few milliseconds you will save are absolutely irrelevant. But again, to each its own.

How is the shift speed relevant unless you are racing? I know GTI has excellent DSG but GTI is also a performance hatch that most people daily drive as well. Most likely I would buy GTI with DSG as well, but would you buy for example Miata or Vette with auto? I know plenty of people buy Miata with auto for various reasons, but I think Miata is so much more enjoyable with the manual.

BMW News: BMW's M Division Believes Manual and Dual-Clutch Transmissions Are Coming To An End
Automatics may be better, faster and more efficient than manuals. However, IMHO any worthwhile enthusiast will enjoy driving a manual car much more than the automatic. As an engineer, I am all for a new technology that is better than the old one. However, for an enthusiast buying a sporty car shift speed is irrelevant (unless he is a racing pro), the enjoyment from driving a sports car is what he is spending his money on. Regretfully, today most cars are sold based on numbers and automatics will deliver better numbers. Also, the fact that less and less people know how to drive the manual is not helping either.

Did anyone saw the Ford GT on the Top Gear where Matt LeBlanc tested it? Amazing car, too bad they could not test it on their circuit for time. Here is probably the coolest feature of the car, entering the Race Mode

2018 Dodge Challenger Demon Provides Brutal Performance: Comments
You guys must be dreaming or drunk to compare it to the Veyron. And I really do not think GM or Ford are worried, they have already excellent all around sports cars, not a one trick pony. This is no doubt a very cool car and I am sure collectors will snatch it, but it is only for drag strip performance, probably will be beat by Tesla, and even if it will be slightly faster doesn't make it a super car. It is a cool classic muscle car, that will be great in straight line, that's about it.

Long Term Classic Modern Car
Most of today's cars are very computerized, full of gadgets and like all things high tech they become obsolete in just few years (for example cars only 5-6 years old lack Bluetooth, have screens that look like cheap kids toys, etc). Today's cars have better screens, more high tech toys but in 5-6 years they will be obsolete as well. Lets say you want to get a car you would like to keep for a very long time, lets say at least 15-20 years. Something like Mustang, Camaro, Challenger or Corvette, something that you can have in addition to your daily driver, a weekend car for your soul and fun, something that you will keep very long time. What car do you think you would get? Let's avoid cars from 60's, 70's or earlier. What would you pick more modern that still will be timeless?
