Pretty cool car, congrats!

They look great except the cladding on the wagon. I would understand if it had some ground clearance to make it competitive to Outback/All road but without ground clearance doesn't make any sense (extra 0.6in is not doing anything). I wish they would leave it just like the Insignia wagon, but I guess Americans are not buying pure wagons anymore.

I meant one of the three row CUVs /SUVs. None of them will be real off road rig but capable enough for mild off road/deep snow we get here in the North East. 4Runner or GC will be better then GX460 off road but they don't have third row (theoretically one trim does but I have never seen one) Durango has decent AWD system and enough ground clearance. If we look at other CUVs in the segment then Highlander has crappy AWD, so does the Atlas. They are basically FWD vehicles and only can send limited amount of power to the rear. I know a number of people who complained that Highlander worth sh@t in the snow. New Pilot has better AWD system but small ground clearance.

Honestly, I don't think any vehicles in the segment have much of a driving dynamics. I would rather have some utility and off-road capability, so if I would be buying for myself I probably would look into Durango or Lexus GX460. However, our family vehicle drives my wife so it will be one of the mommy mobiles.

I think even Honda Pilot looks great compared to this ugly brick.

They could and should put that new 2.5L turbo they have now in CX-9 into Mazda 6 as an option.

Also, Mazda Grand Touring has much more equipment then Accord EX-L.

Listen, I am done arguing with you because you simply don't read what I have wrote and just keep insisting even when you are proved wrong. I went to EACH manufacturer website and build a car with compatible options. AS I MENTIONED ABOVE with Malibu, yes you are getting a more powerful engine, but not with Accord or Camry. You are free to check options on the base Mazda 6 Grand Touring and build other cars with compatible options and see the MSRP by yourself.

@Frisky Dingo First of all, the tested vehicle had $2.5k extra package that most people will not get or need, Secondary, I quoted prices for other cars from their respective manufacturers websites based on MSRP before taxes, destination and fees, just like the Mazda. @Frisky Dingo Well, lets see Mazda 6 GT starts at $30.5k. The $2.5k premium package they have on this particular car gives you: regenerative braking system, active grille shutters, heated rear seats, heated steering wheel, nappa leather trimmed sports seat, led accenting. Lets be realistic and say no other company will have such equipment on a base engine or even high trim car and most people will not take that package. The standard Grand Touring has leather heated seats, led lighting, Navigation, Active safety system, 19-in wheels. Accord, you can't even get to that level of equipment with 2.4L engine but EX-L has MSRP of $29.4k without the active safety system that 6 GT has, so when you add Navigation and Honda Sensing to match Mazda the MSRP price comes to $30.9k. So that's already a little more then Mazda. Malibu - you can't even get leather heated seats with base engine, you have to step up to Premier to get same level of equipment. The MSRP goes up to $31.6k, and yes, you will have 2.0L turbo engine with 250hp. Camry - XLE with 2.5L engine and same equipment as Mazda - MSRP $30.5k So it appears to me that Mazda priced exactly as it should be.

@Frisky Dingo I disagree. First of all if you build competitive vehicles with the same level of equipment the price will be similar or higher. Also, it might not be amazing but it drives very well for a 4-cylinder sedan and IMHO looks better then anything else currently in the segment (which is debatable of course). In regards to incentives, last fall I got my dad 6 Sport for $20k. The MSRP on it was $23.8k.

I will give you few reasons I bought my G37S over Nissan: RWD, 6 speed manual trans., LSD, Brembo brakes. Now, as I said it previously, the current crop of Inifinitis do not look appealing to me, unfortunately.

Congratulations on you marriage and good luck! Thanks for the review, seems to be confirming all other magazine reviews. Infiniti has to find their way again. As the current owner of G37S, which I love, I can't consider the new Q50 as the future replacement.

@hyperv6 Thanks for the explanation, I guess that is what I suspected. I just hope that in order to make this more complex 9 or 10 speed auto transmission smaller and lighter the manufacturers will not sacrifice durability.

I just read an announcement that Honda will start producing 10-speed automatic, seems GM and Ford are going that route as well. Could somebody explain to me what is the advantage of going to high number speed automatic instead of CVT? Seems to me unnecessary complexity of using so many gears.
