Ok, I'm going to try to hide this so it's not given away for those that don't want to know. If you wait past the credits... click & highlight here>

I didn't say they were crappy, I said "it was associated with crappy cars". It's perception. Back during the days of Geo, friends would joke about them being "disposable cars". The perception was of low quality. Another good example: On a trip about a year ago, somehow we got to talking about rebadging cars. I pointed out that the Geo/Chevy Prism was just a rebadged Toyota Corolla. One of them asked, "Then why is the Geo one so much less reliable?" I explained that it's not, because it's the exact same car, but the perception is there, and it's pretty firmly established.
  4. I can tell you that locally, Mitsu's problems are amplified by their location in a tiny old building that's shared with Suzuki. It's barely noticable, and not very attractive if you do happen to notice it.

...and here I thought this was going to be about Little Cesars (sp?) pizza. What ever happened to them?
  8. wow. Glad they got caught...
  9. I was under the impression that the upcoming Saturn/GMC/Buick vehicles were a partial answer to this. Aren't they based on a minivan-esque chassis? They certainly have simmilar seating capacity (7-8 people). Still, GM will need a new minivan design that is simply a minivan - they don't all need to be disguised as SUV's.

Also, insurance may be higher on a salvage vehicle, and getting financing for one is pretty much impossible, so be prepared to pay cash.

    Of course I did.

Saw it - it was good, though a little too "final" (though that's somewhat to be expected since it's the last one they plan to make, which is sad.)

That's also because the new one is supposed to be all about drifting, apparently.

you say the engine ran fine while you were there, but the owner says it bucks? Could it be transmission problems?
  15. still waiting on mine. Ordered it whenever the thread was on here.

While I see the point of trying to seperate what could be sub-par products from the Chevy name, adding or reviving another brand name is a bad direction for a company that's trying to justify all the brands it already has. Still, none of the current brands could be realigned to fit the role, so it's a toughy. My opinion: a) Never bring back the Geo name. As others have stated, it was associated with crappy cars, and GM would be better off creating a new brand than to start out with an already tarnished image. b) Leave the products as Chevys. Sure, they're not made in the U.S., but in the case of the Aveo, they're being sold as Chevys everywhere else in the world except Korea. That's globalization, sorry if it hurts your feelings. Don't like the car? Don't buy it. c) Greatly improve future products so that Chevy doesn't need to be ashamed to have them.
  17. wow
  18. You need to talk to the dealers that are part of large dealership groups, like the one here in Lafayette, IN. The owner doesn't give a rip about Saturn, it's just one brand name among a dozen he owns dealerships for, and that's just locally. He was one of the morons that decided that the base sky's should have an extra $5K tacked on.

There is a push in a number of places. Meijer stores around Michigan, and now I believe Indiana have been getting them. Also, about 20 minutes north of me, a small Indiana town has decided to try to put itself on the map by nicknaming itself "bio-town" and having biodiesel & E85 used in all town equipment, and having both avaliable to the public, as well as a small processing plant outside of town that uses manure to make the biodiesel. It's a pretty small town, though, so using this stuff in "all their equipment" isn't saying much. lol

They ought to make all their cars E85 compatible over the next 2 years. Shouldn't take much.
  23. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but the 2.4L in a Sunfire wouldn't be the same engine as in a G6. A quick google search brought up a wikipedia article on the Sunfire, including engine list, and the 2.4L for the Sunfire was retired at the end of '02, and that motor was rated at 155hp. The current 2.4L has VVT and is rated at like 170hp. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pontiac_Sunfire

I was under the impression that they weren't gaining 5 hp, but that the rating was 5 hp higher under new testing standards, dispite no actual mechanical change...
  25. Looks good - I'm a fan of white vehicles in general.
