  1. government subsidies help consumers reach that break-even point, too.
  2. Yup - it's called "inspiration" Focuses mainly on the Sky, but also shows the Aura.

The calculations weren't meant to credit or discredit the Vue Greenline, or any hybrid necessarily. It's just an analytical tool that EVERY buyer considering a hybrid should do. As some have noted - you also have to look at other differences. What's the value in the extra 40 hp? What's the value in knowing you're polluting less and consuming less oil? (Granted, there can be issues of disposing of batteries - though that's less of an issue in this hybrid since it's mild and there are fewer batteries.) Personally, if I could get $2,000 back from the gov. for buying it, it would be a no-brainer - especially after it's been out for a little bit and bugs worked out. Personally, I think this model will be great as long as it proves reliable.

The problem with dropping the DTS is the threat of losing loyal customers. Don't ditch old customers in the search for new ones. It might take some serious efforts on Caddy's part to transition the loyal Deville drivers over to the STS or other Caddy.

You mean Chevy has a Vue rebadge (don't forget what came first.)

A better compact than the Aveo - a modern version of the Saturn S-Series, without the oil burning issues.

    +1
  8. This would have been more interesting if someone had thrown up on a show car...

I love them in the middle personally. (I'm not an HHR owner, but I've had center switches on a Corsica and a Saturn SC1.)

    Hooray for duel exhaust!

While I understand that this is kind of a look at the old things that GM did that some may not think about, many not only don't realize that GM made trains, but that they still do. Not sure how well GM's Electro-Motive Division (EMD) is doing against GE these days in the locomotive arena, but they're still big.

Strongly considering it, probably the 18th.

Fun with math! Assumptions: GM's estimates are correct Overall MPG = average of city/highway MPG. Equivilant Vue non-hybrid cost: $21K Vue Hybrid cost: $23K Hybrid MPG = 29.5 2.2L Vue MPG = 24.5 Break even point (in miles, X), Cost of gas = $2.50/gal: (X/29.5)*2.5 + 23,000 = (X/24.5)*2.5 + 21,000 X = 115,640 miles So, if maintenance & repair costs are the same, the hybrid will start paying for itself after about 116K miles, which should be well within the reasonable life of the vehicle. Of course, if the batteries go out and cost $2,000 and aren't covered by warranty, you've got another 115,640 miles to go until you break even...
  15. Firefox: I like the tabbed browsing a LOT, but it crashes sometimes. IE: I don't have the virus problems cuz I don't go to risky sites, and it seems more stable than firefox, but no tabbed browsing.

Should have used a likert scale for this poll, IMO. I like it, but on a scale of 1-5 it'd be a 3 or 4. Not a huge fan, but it's decent.

I like it. Something about the back made me think of the new eclipse (not sure if that's good or bad...) Overall it's very nice looking, though.
  18. Wow, they pretty much didn't even try to disguise it being a Chrysler Grand Cherokee.
  19. There is a danger in "watering down" their image, though. Especially with competition from Hummer, as they move into smaller vehicles and seem to have Jeep square in their sites.

This is a classic design (retro without having to "go retro") - they'd be crazy to change it too much. Their fans would probably mob the corporate headquarters! Heck, replacing a long-used engine design will probably bring them polarized response already - some loving and some hating.
  21. They had to know that sales were going to drop like a rock after the promo ended. Still, it helped clear the old out so they can get the new stuff on the lots.

No problems at all with my '99 SC1. I've had it since about 50K miles, now at about 70K (about a year and a half). I've only done regular maintenance.
  23. I guess since the old one looked like a copycat, the new one doing it too can be largely forgiven. :D It is very sweet looking.

kinda neat, I guess. Still wouldn't buy one, though.
  25. Anyone else see a GT40?
