Psssh, didn't you see American Gangster? North Carolina and drug trafficking go together like Sixty8 and classic Buicks. My neighbor I grew up next to until I was five is now spending life in prison for it. And it's not just shipping the drugs north from Florida, there is plenty of drug use going on locally as well. It's not just good ol' boys making moonshine anymore.

I know you're just a young'un, but take it from someone much older than yourself: 65 (or 66) ain't that old. Even now, if she stopped, the level that her lungs would benefit is astounding.
  3. No, but I did once hook up with a girl who was dating something else. Not an experience I want to repeat, but sometimes mistakes are the best teachers.

North Carolina! C'mon and raise up! Take your shirt off, twist it 'round yo' hand Spin it like a helicopter! North Carolina! C'mon and raise up This one's for you, uh-huh, this one's for who? Us, us, us! Petey Pablo: most underappreciated poet of our time, or most underappreciated poet of all time? (The best part, for those who don't know, is that most of the places referenced in the song are all a bunch of boondock hick towns/counties, such as my old stompin' ground, Johnston County, or as my friend Jeff likes to call it "Raleigh's dirty little secret.")

  6. :gay: Oh wait, nevermind. Guess it's back to women for me.
  7. Umm. . . when have Pantera's lyrics EVER sounded like they were produced in a positive state of mind? (Personally, I always thought they sounded like they came from a drunk, raving state of mind.)

I made a pumpkin cheesecake this week, and just finished off the last slice. It was delicious.
  11. I was driving with the classical station on, and the theme from Top Gun came on. Or at least, a similar piece on classical guitar, Bach's Sleepers Awake.
  12. Last year a gay councilman in Chapel Hill posted a link to a website spewing filth like that to the city's website so that people could see that such views still existed and were a problem that shouldn't be ignored. The people on the hate site started posting comments on the town website professing their beliefs and even threatening the councilman. To counter them, citizens started donating money to a pro-gay charity every time someone posted this hate speech. Needless to say, it shut them up pretty quickly. Unfortunately, these people have been able to use the internet like a klan hood to hide behind as they spread their hate that they would never be bold enough to say in person.
  13. And to elaborate on what i said before, I think the best way to describe music or art is to describe what it means to be an artist. To me art is anything that people find beautiful, moving, inspiring, etc. Most of us can identify this in its more obvious forms (arranged music, and even sometimes unarranged sounds, like the babbling of a stream in a forest) but the true artist is the person who can see this beauty in situations where other can't, and is able to rearrange that in a way to make others realize this beauty. The result of their actions is art. The musician does this with sound. And some blessed people can do it with their very lives.
  14. Okay, I have to ask. Why are we still discussing Carlisle, when the obvious right choice is to crash ocn's brother's bachelor party?
  15. That definition is pretty applicable to all forms of art, not just music.

Oh, it definitely does. And what's really sickening is that the whole "they're coming to prey on your little boys" rhetoric is no different than the "they're coming to prey on your daughters and wives" rhetoric that was used to justify lynchings of black men in the old South. Bigotry is disturbingly resilient and adaptable to changing times.

Careful, NOS. Joking around with them is the first step down the slippery slope to :gay:

Ahh, the horribly contagious disease of homosexuality. Luckily, I've found this handy video that will help us all avoid this terrible fate. :AH-HA_wink:

  22. For those of us not up to speed on the jargon of Rural Pennsylvania's gay community, is that supposed to be an abbreviation for homo?
  23. Meh. You can take any two crossover utes and they're going to look alike from at least one angle.
