[Updated] Pontiac Officially Dead in 2010 as of 04/27/2009
I'm going to reiterate. This is "speculation" up until we get the official anouncement. I am going to hold my thoughts in until Monday.

Sky going to Chevrolet?
I don't think Kappa can be stretched enough, but a 2 seat shooting brake called Nomad would be every bit as cool looking and be a more utilitarian Solstice targa alternative.

Cutbacks and your car....
Only thing I'll cut back is I'll start doing more of the non-warranty work myself (my ext. waranty goes to 7/70K bumper-bumper). I'll still get OEM quality or better equipment for it. I'll go to work in a burlap sack and eat spam every night before I cheap out on the parts I use for my car. I have a set of AC Delco cross drilled/slotted rotors and ceramic-metallic pads waiting for a free Saturday. I'll be adding rear shoes and front struts to that list soon.

Still speculation at this point. Y'all know my feelings on the issue. No need to repeat them.

GM ready to let Opel go for free?
Not really...the biggest reason for GME's "turnaround" was not Opel, but GMDAT-sourced Chevies.

GM ready to let Opel go for free?
Pretty strong statement, since they claim to have offers that actually involve money for Saab, Saturn, and Hummer.

j/k. Nice whip.

ego boost
I still get compliments on mine after four years of ownership. The best one was a guy I met at a gas station late last year. He called my car beautiful and proceeded to tell me how he used to own one and loved it very much until his daughter wrecked it. Wifey made him get a Corolla to replace it and he said it was such a POS and the car really made him miss the Cobalt.

Shanghai 2009: Buick MPV Business Concept
Looks like they got the sweepspear backwards. Still, a much more cohesive effort than the Terraza.

Idea's... for my next car and its a poll... UPDATE 2
If a GM lifer wants to show his loyalty for GM on a GM website and instill said loyalty into his son, just let him do it. gm4life: how about considering a mid-nineties Z28/Trans Am? You should be able to find a very clean example in your price range. As long as it hasn't been abused, it should last a long time. The LT1 is damn near bulletproof and can respond very well to even bolt on mods.

GM to Keep GMC and Pontiac
At NYIAS, the Pontiac display had the most traffic of any place in the GM section that didn't have a Camaro on the floor. To boot, most of the traffic was from younger people. You had to wait in line to sit in any of the three G8s on the floor. Solstice Targe display was pretty packed. G6 coupe and vert got their share of looks. G3, G5, and Vibe? They might as well not have been there.

GM to Keep GMC and Pontiac
Automotive News is reporting that GM is NOT going to be dumping Pontiac or GMC. clicky (hopefully someone with a subscription can post the text.)

Idea's... for my next car and its a poll... UPDATE 2
Voted. If you're looking at GPs (and that seems to be the direction you're leaning) would you consider a late model Regal LS or even a base LaCrosse? Same car mechanically as the GPs you mentioned, but in all likelihood they will have been babied rather than beat on.

Cobalt Cometh to Cory
Fix the bushings first - you'll eventually do damage if you don't. You'll really grow to like it once the suspension is tightened up. It really is a great handling car. I'd consider flashing a new shift pattern for the tranny if possible. When you're ready, it might be an easy, affordable solution for you. I haven't done it, but check cobaltss.net - I'm sure someone over there has. Also, the 2.2 does like to be wound out a bit. Get it over 4500rpm and you'll feel like you were hit from behind.

Look what's springing up outside today...
Saw a G6 on an Avis lot...accompanied by three Camries and a Yaris.

Pontiac's fate to be decided in 2010
2.5 pages of posts in 11 hours on a semi-ambiguous news article on Pontiac. if GM doesn't understand that there's a herd of people out there that care for this brand deeply, and another herd of people just looking for a car that resonates with them in a way that no other brand out there can replicate, then it deserves whatever it gets. I'm probably grasping at straws, but I am somewhat encouraged by the fact that there's no mention of selling/spinning off/killing Pontiac.

2 Year's Supply of EXCITEMENT!!!!!!!!
Could it be that the public isn't stupid? Went to NYIAS on Saturday and the Pontiac display was very telling. The G8 and Solstice were mobbed (I waited in line to sit in a G8 GXP), with the G6 coupe/vert less so. The G6 sedan got an occasional glance. The G3 and G5 saw no attention at all.

Cobalt Cometh to Cory
I agree with you on the seats. Granted, I have the leather, but I have spent some time with the cloth seats and didn't find their level of support/comfort substantially different from mine. I took my car from here to Cortland, NY (~5 hours) and had absolutely no problem with the seats. They have just the right amount of support without being too hard. There is no 3rd gear on the autos. There's only 1, 2, and D (overdrive). And there's no way to turn it off. I have no such complaints about the automatic, though I essentially live on flat land and BV's hometown is much more hilly. I can count the number of times on my fingers where I felt my tranny was caught sleeping.

Rage, Hate, and the Need To Vent
You did a phenomenal job with that, YJ. Rear decklid looks fabulous - I seem to remember that being the one rust spot on it. How was the repair on it? You gotta finish her off right with a set of Olds rally wheels. Make the trip up to Carlisle and you'll probably find a set on the cheap.

Fair Trade?
Now, I have no idea what the resale value of a 8-9 year old BMW 7 is, but I'm pretty sure what this guy is offering in a trade won't cut it: clicky

One Night Stand: Taking home the 2010 Chevy Camaro SS
And with that comment, the Mustang takes its rightful place behind the Camaro in the battle for ponycar supremacy.

Rage, Hate, and the Need To Vent
That's a Formula front bumper, my friend. I like. From what I can tell, the body's pretty straight and it has a nice shine. Nice find.

Buick's Future May Be Chinese!
If that is true, GM needs to make the case that BPG is for all intents and purposes one brand. So shedding Saturn, Saab, and Hummer, and eliminating model overlap in all channels should satisfy that requirement.

Given the two options what will you buy?
The bolded part is exactly why I'm voting Cobalt. I don't want to be lumped into that crowd. I too anxiously await the backstory.
