Hundreds gather for Williams' funeral
Capital punishment will always be a highly emotional, charged issue, particularly when some people believe in redemption. The last execution I remember with such an outcry was the execution of Karla Faye Tucker, a born-again Christian, in Texas back in 1998.

Honda Ridgeline wins MT Truck of the Year
There's one thing that will get C&Gers riled up for sure, and that's any kind of positive press for the Ridgeline. The vehicle is ugly and the gas mileage is poor, but there is a lot of innovation in it and as such does deserve some of the accolades that it gets. Particularly when the competition for this year's TOY did not exhibit any kind of significance. Not everybody needs a truck to be as heavy-duty as an F-150 or a Silverado.

2009 BMW 7 Series
This rendering could almost be mistaken for an Infiniti if not for the double kidneys.

turn signals on the mirror
Like Satty said. The '96 Ford Bronco had them.

Newbie's pics of TrailBlazer SS
Sharp-looking ride. That import is an Infiniti G35 sedan. Your departed C5 looks good. I wish I had gotten one of those years ago.

GENERAL MOTORS NEWS
I hope this means that the big SUVs go down in price by about $3,000.

Buick Enclave info
I see Buick being more the equivalent of Chrysler than Lexus, and Chrysler of course does quite well with the Town and Country. GM needs two minivans, one for everyman (Chevy), and one upscale (Buick).

Tops & Bottoms
Quality and reliable do not necessarily translate to highly desirable or in high demand. There's a BPG dealer in the San Francisco Bay Area running ads for 2005 model year prior rental vehicles: 4 Malibus for $8,988 6 LeSabres for $12,988 8 TrailBlazers for $15,988 15 Devilles for $20,988

Vehicle Introductions
Introduce them when they're ready, no earlier and no later. But I also like intros towards the beginning of the year, that way you have a new car for a longer time.

Car Spotting
I love those classic Seville Elegantes. I saw a Mazda5 today, but it was on a car carrier with a bunch of Mazda3's.

Lucerne V.I.P. Premiere Night
The dealer had two Lucernes, both CXS models, one black and one white. They sold the black one today. I sat in the white one. It's nice, but I wouldn't say Lexus nice. I understand what Tanner is saying about the hard, hollow plastic at the bottom of the dash, but it's not uncommon in cars. The trunk is huge. The rear seat is very roomy, with good headroom. The sticker was $40K, with a GMS price of $35.5K. For that price, I would say it's a decent deal, but if I were to get one, I'd wait for rebates. What really concerns me is that a similarly equipped Lexus ES330 has a sticker price of $38K and an invoice price of about $33K. The Lucerne is bigger and has the big V8, but I think the Lexus would be the better buy. I'm struggling with this one.

2006 Car & Truck Finalists Announced
Solstice and Ridgeline. I think the Solstice will get some extra credit points because it's coming from that lumbering monolith GM.

Interiors
Lexus ES330. There's no reason why the LaCrosse couldn't be like this, and this car is just about to be replaced.

Alpha-Numeric Bullcrap
In Mexico, the Pursuit is the G4, and the Matiz is also known as the G2. Why did Pontiac do the sensible thing in Canada and call the Cobalt rebadge the Pursuit there?

Do you have Two plates on your car?
California requires two plates. I have single plates on two of my three vehicles. I've gotten only one fix-it ticket for it ever, and that was when I got a speeding ticket 13 years ago.

Tookie: Live or Die?
Do you completely trust the government to make a irreversible action? I don't. It can be said that nowadays the killing of innocent is perhaps less than in the past, but it's still going to happen. I also don't think it's ethical, has any deterrent value, nor is cost-effective unless the number appeals goes down drastically. But if that happens, the number of innocent people killed will go up.

Buick LaCrosse Sales Up!
This is how Buick describes the wood trim on the Lucerne for the CX, CXL V6, CXL V8, and CXS models: Woodgrain trim, Walnut Burl S S S S1 1 - Warm Chestnut woodgrain included with (193) Ebony interior trim. In comparison, the Cadillac DTS, for the 1SB, 1SC, 1SD, and 1SE trim levels: Wood Trim, dark burled Walnut -- -- S S Wood trim, simulated, medium Ash S S -- -- So could all Buick Lucernes have real wood, and only upper DTS models?

And that's a very nice ride indeed. Almost as nice as the bustleback Seville. Congrats.

New Mercedes-Benz GL-Class Unveiled
The front of the passenger compartment does appear to be identical to the ML, which got a huge upgrade in the redesign. The ML lost the useless third row seats, so this is now the mommy-wagon version. The R-Class is lower and has slightly less off-road capabilities. I find the R-Class to be ugly inside and out. This thing looks decent.
