  2. I recall a comment in a magazine about the LS460 having some of the longest braking distances, and Edmund says that the DTS's are even longer. In some ways the DTS and LS460 are similar: big and soft, and not for driving hard. $53,300 seems about $6,000 too much.

  6. Congrats on the new pending TV. Consider an extended warranty if you haven't gotten one already. I have had co-workers with problems with their Phillips plasma TV's.

I don't think there's one that has a stream of water that shoots up. You're supposed to use the bucket of water and splash it onto yourself. Maybe a combination squat toilet/bidet can be the next big thing?

In the theme of bodily elimination, has anybody used a squat toilet before?

Hillary is a pretty middle of the road moderate. I think she's done better than most people expected, but she has a lot of baggage and is too polarizing, deservedly or not. And the left wing of the Democratic Party hates her stance on the Iraq war. She's not a particularly brilliant speaker, like her husband or Obama is. Obama's lack of experience will allow his competitors fewer things to attack, but he is also an unknown--what exactly are his views? Richardson and Vilsack are longshots. I like Kucinich, but he has zero chance. About Joe Biden, I just keep thinking about the plagiarism accusations the last time he ran. On the Republican side, McCain has disappointed too many people, and he comes across as a sell-out now. Brownback is filling the void for the social conservatives, but he is too right-wing for middle America. Hagel is like an old-time Republican and is where the party should return to. I don't know enough about him, but I find him to be the most interesting so far. Giuliani is not someone the conservative base will support.

  20. With the Commander, what was DCX thinking? It's narrow and has 20 year-old styling. Not a good kind of retro. Saying it's ugly is being charitable.
  21. Sorry to hear, Flybrian. Something is seriously wrong down there. If you ever get a new car, make sure it's a bright color.
  22. A sports car is about more than just performance numbers. A sports car also is inherently low, has RWD, and is not sedan-based. It most likely will have two seats, but can be a 2+2 (Ferrari 612 Scaglietta) or 3-seater (McLaren F1).

Old school is right. The DTS has its detractors and its fans. I share the view that that the STS and DTS should be combined into a larger, slightly more upscale Sigma than the current STS, and those who want a cushy ride should look towards Buick.
  24. The front of the car is ok, but the rest looks like the designers weren't really trying. And the interior just looks cheap. Perhaps with wood trim it'll look better.
