You are correct sir! I pulled my book off the shelf (Standard catalog of Pontiac 1926-1995). It shows 1977 as the last year for the Astre coupe and hatchback. It appears that the wagon got folded into the Sunbird line for 1978. There's a caption in the 1979 section under a photo stating the name as "Sunbird Astre Safari station wagon". Appears to have been dropped in 1980.

That Smurf blue Neon is the single worst rental car I ever had! Major rattle trap with 500mi on the odometer. Being sentenced to Kalamazoo was just icing on the cake. After 2 months I made Avis take it back and kissed the ground when I got a Grand Am.

Wow, hard to believe they're the same wheels! Nice job. You need to post a "before" pic with these. If you wanted to carry your theme of black/chrome to the lugs, you could get some repro Pontiac Rally II lugs that would be chrome with the black center (or red). The ones I got for my '68 are 1/2" thread (from Ames). What comes next, installing the motor and trans?

I wondered these S-10 ZR2 wheel caps might work. The wheel center looks larger.

I think that's the first cap I found that was 2 5/8" across. They seem to fit this wheel:

Sounds like you'll be chopping them as that cap appears to be one piece.
