Any change in G8?
That timeframe seems right. But bigger news is the speculation that Pontiac may become rebadged Holdens in the US + Solstice and G6.

Engine alternatives for Cobalt
The 2.2 DI is already in use in Europe. Also we will be getting 4 cylinder diesels in the US within a few years, though I don't know how widely spread the mix will be.

Right now, IMO, GM's past managment didn't prep for the advancing technology of OHC, 4+ speed trannies because they thought that by offering a better 'value' and marketing the 'value' that people wouldn't care or notice the difference. That is the problem. We all know that the 6 speed RWD and FWD trannies are coming. It seems the 3.6 DOHC engine will spread pretty far across GM as a whole, upcoming Lambdas, NG Thetas, possibly NG Epsilon cars, Zetas... You can see the corprate culture finally seeing the perception problem. And the only way to change perception is to offer all and more than the competition at the same price.

2007 GMC Acadia - Images
Where have we seen a GMC hood with that shape on it before? Could it have been the found drawings of the GMT900 hoods? I think the Sierra will have that on it as well, possibly with a scoop on the Denali version.

That is a yes. And it is relevent to this discussion as much as your being hired as as consultant and your effectiveness.

GM Death Watch 84
I don't agree with that. Some bankers on the board will keep it profitable because they want money. Keep it profitable and it stays around.

Are you basing this assesment on the really poor MT photochop?

2 seat only. The next 9-3 would be the compact FWD global architecture and would be 2+2 capable. This would be below the 9-3.It is built on an updated, heavily modified Astra T-body, I believe.

I am with you on it not being on Kappa and for a while my only guess was a tiny Epsilon but I just remembered something: Opel Tigra Twin Top Hmmm...FWD and already built in Europe.

Jim I really don't think you believe that this would possibly be good for GM, do you?

Was there a contract involved where they had to keep you X number of months? Usually this is how consultant services work, I should know my former employer did this.

larger atlas'
If they would have designed it to go in slanted like the Bimmers that wouldn't be much of a problem now would it. But NO we want to make it stick straight up and down.

Any hope for a good minivan?
Montana SV6 is dead. I think we will end up with an Chevy, Saturn, and either a GMC or Buick but that should be it. I can't see GM having another one it did NOT turn out well.

buickman has a proven sales track record
Alright I think it is time to let O.C.'s cover be blown since BM is trying to compare resume's. I have held the secret long and hard but the time has come O.C. is in fact: Rick Wagner

Information about Renault
How many cars were sold in the US vs Europe last year? An anomoly yes but a VERY big one. Large enough to skew world statistics in our favor. What was the highest volume platform in the world last year? Likely Toyota Camry followed by GM's GMT800 trucks and SUVs.

Any hope for a good minivan?
Dual power sliding doors and power rear lift gate optional or standard, keyless standard, 3.6 HF and 6 speed auto standard, AWD optional, very high quality interior materials (see Outlook for an idea), ESC and ABS and Onstar standard, bigger in size than most minivans (like a cross between the fullsize BOF vans and unibody minis), power 2nd row seats are probably likely, remote start either standard or optional, XM optional, power passenger seat optional, DVD Nav optional, rear DVD system optional or possibly standard, side curtain air bags 2nd and 3rd rows standard, seat mounted side bags for front row optional.Just a few probably guesses based on GM's current offerings and promised things, Onstar, ESC, and ABS standard on all cars by 2010.

Information about Renault
Judging by your response, name, and preffrence of Renaults I can guess you are in Europe. Now being that as it may an Escalade likely wouldn't work in your city. American roadways, which is what the GMT900 Escalade was designed for, are larger and our cities are much more spread out than those in Europe. We could say that the designs of the Renaults are unfinished, tiny, and underpowered but that would be with the American, and by that I mean North American, preffrence for larger more powerful cars. Also the level of Luxury that you get in an Escalade would outclass ANY of the other cars in the thread combined. An Escalade is not lacking in leg room in ANY row. Also it is quiet and smooth as silk on the highway and has plenty of power to accelerate at any time it needs to. It will never leave you unable to climb a hill and it will drive through snow with little problem, up to a certain level of snow where it just couldn't push it out of the way due to traction limitations (though it does come with AWD standard). To compare a vehicle out of its elements is purely stupid and to judge a vehicle without driving it and comparing it to its competition and within its class is foolish. I suggest that you only comment on what you know. That being said I think the exterior design of the Citrogen C2 looks rather interesting.
