The Mother Nature has a way of thinning us out. When was the last drop in the earth's population?

Where is the info on how bad America pollutes? I'm not saying its not true, I just want to see it for myself. But without seeing the data, I'll say that it might be because we produce more than any other nation. EDIT: I must say I'm very impressed that this hasn't become political. Except for one comment saying our president is an idiot, like its his fault the EARTH has warmed a degree and controls the weather, but I'm very impressed.

When it saves you money its not pointless. I have a programmable thermostat that lowers the temp to 65 in the winter and raises it to 80 in the summer. I also use compact florescent bulbs where and when I can and when regular bulbs blow. All that for the sake of saving money.

I agree with you with what you said. To add about the factories being the worst polluters, China has to be the worst. But the Keto Treaty wasn't going to do anything about them. People can't expect us to just cut all our greenhouse gases and turn a blind eye to what they are doing over there. At times I think that is all Global Warming is about, punish America for being the wealthest and most powerful nation.

And what should we do about this? Start killing off people? Not trying to be a smart ass, but what do we do about that?

Haven't they been recording temperture for the last 100 years only?

In the '70s, they said we are headed for the next Ice Age. Before that, in the '20s I believe, it was global warming. Several years ago it was global warming again. Now they changed the name again to Climate change. I've got a feeling we don't really know and that's the reason for the name change to climate change. Society is so quick to jump to conclusions saying that this is the cause and if you don't believe it, then you are crazy. They always fail to mention that the sun is burning hotter now than it ever has. All the solar activity that has been going on the last few years has been crazy. Here's a good question. Since some believe we are the cause of global wa....I mean climate change, why are the polar ice caps on Mars melting? Are we the cause of that too?

  9. I like what I see. The Corvette inspired rear end, the nice touches of chrome around the side windows and below the doors and around the tag, the trimless front and rear glass, Hankook tires, old style side marker lights, and side turn signals all look nice. I hope a lot of time was spent in the wind tunnel to make this thing as slick as possible. It would be nice to see some close to 30mpg city/40 hwy numbers under the old system with the 2.4, 6speed, and great aerodynamics.

DETROIT, Mich. – Chevrolet today released an advance image of the exterior of the all-new 2008 Malibu, which will be unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January and will arrive at Chevrolet dealerships later in 2007. The photo was released in conjunction with the announcement of a $208 million investment in the Fairfax, Kansas Assembly plant to prepare for production of the car. The image reveals a partial shot of the front of the car featuring a dual-port grille, which is described as representing the “new face of Chevrolet.” “The 2008 Malibu design is expressive and brings new proportions and a fresh perspective to the mid-size market,” said Ed Peper, Chevrolet General Manager. “The new Malibu boasts a poised, wheels-at-the-corners stance with a longer hood and shorter deck appearance that conveys motion, agility and attitude.” Chevrolet previously released a sneak peek of one of the car’s available two-tone interiors, which demonstrates a much more upscale look and feel with more premium materials and a new level of refinement in the extremely competitive mid-size car segment.

DETROIT – Chevrolet announced the new 2008 Equinox Sport, a performance-oriented variant of the popular compact SUV. It has an aggressive stance and a sporting nature, thanks to a lowered suspension, bold 18-inch wheels, a powerful, 263-horsepower (196 kW) DOHC engine – backed up with a six-speed automatic transmission with manual tap up/tap down control – a tuned exhaust and unique exterior appointments. Details such as body color fascias and the elimination of the roof rack contribute to the sleek design, making the Equinox Sport an uncompromising performance vehicle. “The Equinox Sport embodies all of the value-driven performance ingredients that have made Chevrolet the brand for performance enthusiasts of all walks of life,” said Ed Peper, Chevrolet general manager. “Better still, customers don’t have to sacrifice the versatility they expect from the Equinox – they simply get an SUV that hauls their friends and cargo with head-turning style.” The 2008 Equinox Sport is scheduled to arrive at Chevrolet dealerships in the third quarter of 2007. Front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive models are available. Design details Using Chevrolet’s popular Equinox SUV as the foundation, the Equinox Sport delivers a performance-inspired appearance, with body colored front and rear fascias and a body color grille cross bar. The front and rear fascias have trapezoidal design cues; the front fascia uses silver-painted trapezoidal air inlets, while the rear fascia features dual chrome trapezoidal-shaped exhaust outlets. The Equinox Sport’s performance-oriented look is enhanced by eliminating the roof rack, although it is offered as an option. Also, 18-inch flangeless, high-polished forged aluminum five-spoke wheels, mounted on P235/50R18 tires, complement an aggressive stance. Inside, the Equinox Sport has standard all-Ebony trim and appointments all its own. New seats with bolsters that enhance lateral support during quick cornering maneuvers are standard, with perforated leather-covered versions available. It also has a leather-wrapped, four-spoke steering wheel and specific instruments, including a 140-mph speedometer. The shifter also is unique to the Equinox Sport, as it is a J-gate design that enables precise control of the six-speed transmission’s fully automatic or manual tap-up/tap-down features. Standard features also include those for which the Equinox is already known and appreciated: five-passenger seating with a Multi-Flex, split-folding rear seat, flat-folding front passenger seat , power door locks with remote keyless entry, power windows, air conditioning, tilt steering, rear liftgate with defogger and washer/wiper, and an AM/FM/CD/MP3 stereo with six-speaker audio system. XM Satellite Radio and remote vehicle starting also are standard. Available options include a power sunroof, Pioneer seven-speaker audio system and OnStar with Turn-by-Turn Navigation. Performance GM’s high-feature 3.6L V-6 powers the Equinox Sport. It is a DOHC engine with variable valve timing that delivers 263 horsepower (196 kW)* and 250 lb.-ft of torque (342 Nm)* – a 42-percent power increase over the Equinox LT. The 3.6L engine is paired with a new Hydra-Matic 6T70 six-speed automatic that provides an excellent balance between performance and fuel economy. This powertrain combination delivers performance that would be the envy of many sports cars, with an estimated 0-60 mph time of less than seven seconds. The Equinox Sport’s underhood acumen is complemented with a performance-tuned suspension. A long, 112.5-inch (2,857 mm) wheelbase and wide, 61.8-inch (1,569 mm) track give the Equinox a stable, confident road feel, while the Sport’s lowered ride height, specific shock tuning, control arms and larger, solid stabilizer bars add to its more responsive, sporting driving experience. The overall ride height is reduced by about 1 inch (25 mm). The front suspension has a MacPherson strut design with new control arms and stiffer, hydraulic bushings and slightly stiffer springs. The rear suspension features a four-link independent layout with stiffer bushings. GM’s innovative StabiliTrak electronic stability control system, front and rear disc brakes with four-channel ABS and tire pressure monitoring system all are standard on the Equinox Sport – as they are on all Equinox models for 2007. On AWD models, the automatic all-wheel drive system has no buttons to push. It engages automatically when wheel slip is detected.
  14. They never say EPA certified, it's always EPA estimated because that's all they are when it's all said and done, estimates.
  15. Where are you getting 25 and 36? I can see it if you use the 3.5L mileage numbers, but that should be 37 or 38 if it's added to the hwy mileage too. Is the XE going to get the 2.4 option by itself soon. Maybe they are using those numbers. The VUE, that has the same powertrain and hybrid system as the Aura, gets 27city, 32hwy. The 2.4 in the G6 gets 23city, 33hwy. If you believe GM 100% , the numbers would be more like 29city and 41hwy. That's rounding up and saying the system will improve mileage 25% to city and hwy mileage. I don't know if I believe the 29/41 numbers either, though. I'm going to wait until official numbers come out.
  16. So no aluminum hood and lift gate? Didn't they show the Tahoe Hybrid with it? Cost might be getting in the way of that addition.
  17. Overview. The all-new Aura midsized sedan is the latest model in Saturn's stream of new products developed to reinvent the General Motors division, following close on the introduction of the Sky roadster. The Aura continues the brand's shift of focus toward more sophistication, performance, and style, rather than depending on its no-haggle pricing policy and dent-resistant plastic body panels to push a limited, lackluster car lineup. Replacing the L-Series, the Aura rides on the same underpinnings as the Chevrolet Malibu and Pontiac G6, and it uses regular sheet metal rather than plastic body panels. This new model faces tough competition in the crowded family-car segment dominated by the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord. While the Aura is miles ahead of previous Saturns, it's still a little rough around the edges compared with the best cars in the class. The Aura comes in just two trim lines, differentiated by powertrains and standard equipment. The base XE has a 224-hp, 3.5-liter V6 and four-speed automatic transmission, while the sportier up-level XR has a more refined 252-hp, 3.6-liter V6 and six-speed automatic. A four-cylinder and a hybrid are expected to join the range in a year or so. The XE starts at $20,945 and the XR at $24,945 with destination charges. Both have standard side and side-curtain air bags and antilock brakes. The XR has standard stability control, as well. Consumer Reports purchased one of each. With options, we paid $21,070 for the base XE and $26,820 for the premium XR. Initial impressions. A more competitive model than the outgoing L-Series, the Aura demonstrates clear progress, though the base engine and interior fit and finish lack polish. Overall, the Aura driving dynamics are pretty good. It handles quite nimbly, with responsive steering and well-controlled body motions. The base XE's pushrod V6 takes a bit of prodding to get the desired response and it sounds coarse. The XR's contemporary multivalve V6 revs more eagerly and delivers plenty of power. In fact, the 3.6L engine has such verve that it's a little too easy to spin the front wheels, despite the traction and stability-control systems. The ride quality is better--more compliant--in the base model than in the sportier XR. And in both iterations, a wide turning circle and rather heavy steering at low speeds can make parking a chore. The interior furnishing is a mixed bag. The driving position is good and the front seats are supportive and well-shaped. Several testers found the shoulder-belt anchors too low, so the belt tugged on their shoulders. The top of the dash has a soft and grainy material but some clear cost-cutting shows in the flimsy glove box and center-console bin and sharp edge at the back of the front seats. The rear seats are roomy and reasonably comfortable. The trunk is a little shallow. Overall, the new Aura represents real progress but it could stand more polish, specifically: a better ride in the XR, quieter chassis, and a higher-quality interior. Class leaders, like the Accord and Camry, are hard to beat but the Aura is competitive with other family sedans. We will see how it stacks up against such competitors as the Kia Optima and Chrysler Sebring when our full road-test report appears in a future issue of Consumer Reports magazine and at ConsumerReports.org.
  18. The edmunds review is of an 2006, though they do have some of the updated info for the '07, but for the most part it's an '06 review. For '07, they recalibrated the steering and suspension so maybe they will like the ride and handling even better.
  19. No badging on the side of the Torrent GT/GXP or Equinox SS? What's up with that? The only thing I can think of is that they are struggling with the names of the vehicles. Or it's only on the back, which would be weird and different from all the others. Still I like them. The name is the only thing people are having a hard time coming to grips with. The new engine is needed.
  20. You know, I've been looking at the picture off and on all day trying to figure out what your talking about, but I can't see what it for the life of me. Is it the high belt line or the high deck lid?
  21. Cadillac To Premiere All-New 2008 CTS In January DETROIT, Mich. - It is the subject of online discussions, rumors and spy photographers. It is the successor to an award-winning and popular luxury car. And it's coming in January. Cadillac confirms that the all-new 2008 CTS will make its world premiere in January at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. "Cadillac has engineered an historic renaissance, with a completely new product portfolio, driven in large part by the original CTS," said general manager Jim Taylor. "Success can drive conservatism, but not for Cadillac. The next chapter, beginning in January, promises to be even more dramatic." The debut of the redesigned 2008 CTS in the marketplace is scheduled for late-summer of 2007 in the U.S., with worldwide exports to follow in the fall. As this new chapter prepares to open, the current CTS model continues to be an automotive success story. "CTS has built a strong record of success on many levels," Taylor said. "It has exceeded our goals for sales volume, set new design trends, won championships in racing, and earned awards for quality and customer satisfaction." Cadillac sold more than 61,000 copies of the CTS in the U.S. in 2005, compared to roughly 38,000 in 2002, an increase of 60% over that period. This sustained sales growth over nearly five years is counter to conventional industry logic that says a new car's hottest sales occur shortly after launch. There are roughly 275,000 CTS owners worldwide, and industry researchers say they are among the most satisfied in the automotive market. AutoPacific rated CTS as the top Entry Luxury Car in its annual Vehicle Satisfaction Awards in 2006.

I sure wish the Silverado Z71 would recieve the same treatment as the Tahoe Z71 with the different bumper for better approach angle and different looks. Looks no different than an LT.

Lowered stance, colored bumpers, lack of top marker lights, not overly chromed. Those are the things that I see right off.

I would like to see a narrower hood scoop, a flush mounted bed cover- not the 3 inch raised, aftermarket looking cover that seems so popular for some reason, and no chrome brake duct inlet or exhuast outlet.
