Hey Northstar, I assume you traded your alero in on this the GTO, what I wanted to ask is how much mileage did it have and how was it holding up? I know you had a heavy foot on the gas from posts on the old forums (like me) and I was wondering how much it cost to keep the car up after 50k miles which I just passed, and congrates on the GTO awsome car...

my 01 alero only costs 1200 a year to insure, not bad and that is with a v6. In its last years of production it was regularly listed as one of the 10 cheapest cars in the US to insure. Good reliablitiy handes well good power fairly stylish one of the best interiors of a domesticin its generation...whats notto like?

I could swing the payments on a g6 gtp im sure, that would probably be my choice.
  8. that may be true about the 3.4 twin cam but the 3.5 shortstar in my moms intrigue is awsome and is close to 100k problem free miles with NOTHING replaced and maybe 1 fuel injector cleaning and a new air filter, were going to get it a tune up and new plugs andwires when it hits 100k so that it has another 100k of problem free miles
  9. testing is my post count goint up at all I seem to be stuck below 40 ... guess its working again jus have to post more at the new sight..
  10. heh BV you baby'd your car to much it got soft and lazy lol you should've given it the digital driver treatment every now andthen... your with at wide open throttle or your coasting lol
  11. I am so a part of the beater crowd. Ive had my 01 alero gls for about 20 months, in that time I have put on about 35,000 miles over the 20k it had when I got it. It get redlined probably about 5 times a week with many many highway merges in teh 4k rpm and almost as many cars passed at 5k rpm. IT has never had a week since I have owned it when it hasnt broken at least 90 and is motor crossed sometimes in the summer. Ive gotten air in it on a number of ocassions probably about 30 times and once blasted off an exit all the way up at the speed limiter and came to a stop with makes rotors literally smoking. Longest ve driven it at the edge of its limiter with the cruise locked in at about 110 mph was about 20 miles and the car wasnt working terriably hard, doing low 3k rpms in top gear. This car is still all orginal parts except for rotors which I have gone through a bunch of lol. I love how reliable this car has been, it takes what I dish out and just comes back for more, the 3400 hasnt even had the headgasket problem despite the way I flog it, though I do let the car warm up before I drive like a maniac. Its just now startig to show the wear, the tires needed replacment (thread was showing through the sidwall and they looked like racing slicks, so I just bought 4 new Perelli P zero neros to replace the crap goodyear eagle ls, and the suspension is showing its age some with increased body lean and some crash through from worn springs. To reward my car for its faithful service and to increase its performance in combination with its kickass tire I have just ordered a 4 new KYB after market struts and ebauck (SP?) prokit springs that will make the car handle better nd ride in a way so it doesent look like its a 4x4 anymore. Anyways the drivetrain runs lie the day I got it and the suspension and breaks have taken a beating but those are the oly things I have ever needed to replace, my car is a champ and I am never going to get rid of it, even after I eventually get a new one, it would make a good winter car if I get that camaro im drooling over...
  12. does anybofy have a list of new priceinmg compard to old pricing for all cars and trucks? Id love to see.
  13. this thing will slay all luxury crosovers if it comes even close to production like this, perfect proportion amazing interior, perfect powertrain options, this is Buick's savior, IF they bring this true to form to production and revise the lacrosse and luscerne with better powertrains revised interiors and a few extra options and Buick could pul one of the best and fastest turn of fates on the automotive industry

yeah I really liked the 87 442 in the movie, I really would like to get one of those someday and build up the v8 to make it a fast car. Its not a slug though it does make 60 in less than 8.

Awsome first house Eric, My folks first house was tiny by comparison and they probably ended up paying more for it because land value up here in the north east corner of the country are so obsurdly high that you can pay half a million dollars for a house and it wont get you more than a ranch house with a few small bedrroms and 1.5 bathrooms and maybe a one car garage. Since then we have managed to move up a little bit, 3 houses later for my parents we have moved from long island to westport CT, and we have an 8 bedroom 5.5 bath 2 kitchen 4 living room house that is valued close to 3 mil. We have lived here for 14 years and now with me moving out when I finish college in 2 years, my grandfather having passed on and my brother divorced so my ex sister in law will be moving out we are ready to downsize. Hopefully when we sell and move to a cheaper part of connecticut we wil end up with a decent amount of money left over so my gimpy dad (he has MS) can finally retire. Anywho great house Eric now trade in that Dakota and get a GM in that garage.

wow i know its a transition period but buick is not looking good, 280k units is less than olds made the year it got cancelled. Better hope the new stuff and the enclave catch on next year or there goes buick. I want to see pontiac pass 500k next year hopefully.

will the lacrosase super be at the auto shows this year? I really want ot find out what it has under the hood. Y dad wants a lacrosse but wants more power after testdriving an impala SS. He says if they put nav in the lacrosse and the DOD ls4 V8 with hopefully a 6 speed auto tranny he would buy it in a second, even without the 6 speed he would still most likey get it. anybody have any info?
  18. intrigued replied to Northstar's post in a topic in Buick
im betting 3900 with a 6 speed, I doubt GM will still be putting mostly 4 speed in new crossovers by that point

the gauges are kinda neat but other than that this car doesnt do anything for me Especially the interior
  20. yeah I like coupes but the reason I dont consider them hence not considering the GTO is that I need the functionality of four door. Carry stuff back and forth to college and trips for work. I thought about the 2nd gen aurora but I ended up not getting it. Its a stunning car but its a little to big for my taste especially for city driving. its also luxury first with performance second and while its resonably quick it doesnt feel any faster than my alero up to about 80. plus its FWD and I want more of a performance oriented RWD car. Cant get one of those from GM for 20 grand used unless you get a 2003 CTS but the 3.2 is course and underpowered for the car. Well theres me justifying my temporary defection to the dark side ill keep you guys posted on these developments.
  21. PS if anyone wantes my alero im selling it for only 5 grand. It will cost about another 2 to get it fully repaired (new brakes, shocks struts and a new bumper.) mechanically the car runs like new never had any reliability issues.

well my alero is getting on in years. Its been a great car (2001 gls loaded) It had 50k miles on it half of them are hard city miles and let me tell you new rochelle has the biggest potholes in the world. The car need new brakes again soon and the suspenshion basically needs to be replaced. Ive been debating for a while wheather I want to dump 2 grand into fixing a car that is nice but not worth all that much. I almost baught a G6 this summer but I really couldnt swing a 30 grand car which is about what the GTP i wanted cost. So I had this "I need to fix the alero soon or get a new car goal" on my back burner. So this past friday one of my friends friend came to pick us up and bring us to a bar. He pulls up in an imaculate 2003 g35 sedan, black exterior ebony interior. So we're driving and im like "bro this is a sick car." He comes back with "I just ordered a new lexus IS350." So i come back with so are you selling this car? He said yes. I asked how much. He said 20 grand. I say how many miles. He said 30k. I im going to the bank next week and im taking out a loan to buy this car from you. So this is my one time flirting with the darkside. I couldnt afford any of the GM's I wanted because all the ones I wanted are new and there is nothing used from gm that I really wanted. So this is myh hold me over till my senior year car when I will hopefully be able to buy a CTS coupe. GM im taking a break but Ill be back.

I agree with AH-HA how can you judge a car you havent even seen in person. The interior looks great but im going to reserve judgment till i sit in it. Exterior looks fantastic, very classy and refined maybe not quite a gressive enough but still imposing. The only exterior element im on the wall about is the grill. Still dont prejudge guys...
