  1. Behind every government law are small interest groups and masses of disgruntled citizens.
  2. It is not obvious to others. Does it specifically say what technology in what magnitude will be used? No Does it say how will it effect in reducing the accidents? No Does it say other data wll be NOT collected in this effort? No There are many others to add. When other side is bringing valid arguments and when you make points like, "Reality is complex," "Paranoia Flying" it is obvious what is missing. May be similar to tin foil hats, people need lubed condoms to just take what government shoves in.
  3. I don't really have an opinion one way or the other on this. Automobiles may be private, but they are driven on public roads for which you need a registration, license plate, driver's license, etc for. I would not consider aircraft to be public...they are privately owned (by people or corporations) but their travel is regulated. Aircrafts may be privately owned but the single difference is that the owner company is in a business to throughfare of passengers using that equipment for business purposes. Hence there is a necessity to understand what may have gone wrong in the accident to ascertain whether it was or not company's fault. Do Individuals have to go through the same too? Do you use your Grand Cherokee for taking people from Mesa to Phoenix and take $50 for the trip? Another government arm can easily be created just like TSA to monitor these blackboxes. Last time I saw believers of both sides on this forum were against TSA.
  4. How is this not privacy intrusion? And right of freedom intrusion? "I want blackbox mandatory, but not for spying purposes, I promise I will not look into your driving habits." Signed - Government of United States Progressive uses these blackboxes in name of 5% savings, yeah right they do not monitor. The term blackbox used in the law is so vague and open that anything can be put in this device other than accelerometers and pressure gages to understand impact physics. Reality is simple, people make it complex to make themselves feel self-important.
  5. Just confirms Peugeot's stakes and GM wanting to play hard vs. Merkel.
  6. How do you explain Hyundai and Kia with the slippery slope argument, considering both companies have been massively increasing their shares in this country?
  7. Let them compete. No matter how much GM tries to avoid, it cannot prevent that. Case in point, Lamda quadruplets. Look how much sales Chevy had compared to Acadia and Outlook, but it virtually kept itself away luxury-wise against Enclave. GM should have had the Chevy to leverage sales before the Saturn and GMC. Alas, Jill wanted Saturn to be "Upmarket" and volume maker. Kia and Hyundai compete also, yet together they are doing company good. 100,000 of one vehicle is worse than 75,000 and 45,000 of two vehicles, for a similar sized market. GM's strategy with Buick/Opel and GMC should be simple. Design as a Chevy platform, and then do the design magic on the mid-brands. Anything extra from those mid-brands will be gravy. As far as Caddy and Buick are concerned it should be converse, by charging more premium on Caddy for same platform vehicle, it forgoes volume but leaves huge margin for Buick to operate in.
  8. Didn't show up today. It says in transit. I hope to get tomorrow.
  9. I share all the sentiments above. GM just gives the perception it does not want to commit to US market 100%.
  10. Thanks Roger. I was just lucky while taking those pictures. Perfect Florida evening with a shooting star in the first picture. The dream came true before making a wish. The car is a beast and a beauty, depends on the situation.
  11. I get my copy today from Amazon.
  12. Thanks Jett. No need to be jealous. You can have one soon. I waited for 8 years to lay hands on one. Never give up hope. Thanks Bob. That makes at least three vette owners on our forum. You, Chevy Nick and I.
  13. When I take a tour of America in a Corvette soon.
  14. Thanks Dave and Frogger.
  15. Thanks Blu. The car has given me a sense of responsibility when I am driving her. Ricers, Mustangs, BMWs alike want to "race". I just have to ignore.
  16. I can pick you up and we can go to Sebring.
  17. ZL1 in red.
  18. The burning is because of German unions and Merkel's heavy handedness to GM. Intellectually Opel and people working in R&D there are an asset to GM. I wonder how VW stays profitable with same labor force rates there? Is GM playing a cat and mouse game with German government similar to what it did with Australian counterparts?
  19. An institution has been lost. Condolences to his family.
