  1. Porsche Cayenne GTS (last version) with 6 speed manual - till Porsche bastardized it with only auto-trajic. 911-GT3/RS can be had for that price.

  4. Porsche 911 can be had for less than 70K also, so can a NSX.
  5. Honda can justify a refresh for a vehicle that sells 416 vehicles in six months, yet GM cannot justify refresh for a vehicle that sells 11,002 units in that same time period. Honda YTD has 86,503 sales on Accord-large platform. GM has 366,979 sales for GMT900. Which means ZDX and Avalanche form 0.4 and 3% of their respective platform sales. So no matter how you slice it, GM's decision is still fracked up. Wasn't efficient, diversified product development going to be easy after the bankruptcy?
  6. The point of the car is not Fuel Economy, but alternatives to petroleum. You can put an ICE, steam power, or nuclear fusion reactor to run the batteries and it will run just fine. None of the hybrids can make such claim despite boasting bigger fuel economy numbers. So the vehicles are not pointless but of importance from this point on.

  10. With the FR-S and BRZ, I would disagree with you on at least part of that. Most of the actual engineering work like development of chassis, testing, tuning was done by Subaru. Toyota did most of the "design" work. I think the car is more a Subaru than a Toyota.
  11. Minimal weight loss if any. Because the structural components, body panels are still there.
  12. It is hard to seperate cars and goverment anymore so you did nothing wrong. In fact it is getting hard to no get into politices on nearly anything anymore from what you eat, drive, wear your doctor etc. For a a ntion that was born from a desire to have personal liberty, we are rapidly becoming a nation that seeks conformity and gov't control over all kinds of crazy portions of our life. I am by no means a conservative or libertarian, but I believe that personal responsibility is being undermined by both the attitude of main street/voters and the willingness of gov't to regulate and fix everything. Sorry to rant....I just want the ability to make responsible free choices as to what I think is best for my family. Freedom is one side of the coin that has accountability/responsibility on the other. When people are not willing to take one side, the other side is forced to be taken away too, eventually.
  13. Not to go off the topic of Verano, but I hear the same daily. Every one likes the look. Some are interested first based on the looks and then others on the smaller size and equipment. Great car, and a lot of demand especially for 6MT models. Not as luxurious inside as the Verano, but an edge still in tech and really fun driving dynamics. Rides better than the TSX in ways too, thanks to the new amplitude reactive dampers. I was very impressed by the Verano, except for the soft seats and softer powertrain feel. Like a luxury car in a small package. Day to day, the ILX sport and polished driving dynamics give it its own edge. If it is the same 6 speed from the old TSX, then it is the best one in business this side of the Porsche Cayman. I wonder how will Verano turbo play with its dynamics. I hope GM gives the car some suspension tuning over the vanilla Verano. After seeing the Verano, I think GM should stop selling the 2.4 in Regal and just offer two turbos in different HP.

  16. Only Infiniti owners are lazy and don't take of their vehicles? Same can also be said about owners of vehicles from other manufacturers, yet they do not detiorate as much. Infinitis are notorious for the quality wear and tear and deterioration. First gen G35s with less than 5 years of age have discolored headlights worse than my 14 year old Lumina, which is parked without any protection in acidic environment.
  17. That is precisely the defensive mindset I was talking about. Find excuses about why other manufacturers are successful and why GM cannot be. People here bitch about brand dilution of Cadillac by sharing its components with Chevies, yet they are okay for a Lamborghini sharing components with the lesser Audi. GM already has a capable platform in Corvette why not utilize it and create something better for Cadillac? In similar tone, "Hyundai was never a luxury car make and never will be. Toyota (in 80s) was never a luxury car maker and never will be. Lexus never produced a supercar and never will do so." Those manufacturers did not think it that way. Ciel invoked more positive response from import lovers than ATS has and yet one is not going into production. Again, given the resources and talent GM has, it should stop making excuses.
  18. Defensive mentality is pretty bad. That is what got GM in trouble. Be it defense for market share, profits, or avoiding strikes. Infinity has a joke of a lineup yet wants a supercar. Lexus is a two FWD horses brand yet has a car 5 times more expensive than its costliest vehicle and has shown off another concept supercar. Acura, well it is a FWD orgasmic joke and yet had a supercar and will have a new one. There was a German article where one of the top BMW bosses acknowledged that BMW did not get enough brand recognition in Asian countries because of lack of a halo vehicle compared to likes of R8 and SLR, etc. Development of such a car and vanilla products can be done concurrently, given GM's strength and resources.
  19. Speaking of Cruze, it is 4 years into world's market place. We should see it being replaced in the next 2 years.

  21. By building a car good enough to sell over seas. With better product they can grow a little in the USA, but they need a global winner to get sales. Which is why they need a flagship car to be taken seriously over seas. Dude, did you actually get his question? Emphasis on the word "get".
  22. BMW is sharing platforms, and Mercedes has already started sharing its platforms and engines with Ghosn. Soon to be found the 3.5L V6 in your local Nissan dealer. The harsh reality is despite your favorite brands have more than five times the sales of Cadillac, they need help from others to survive. With margins getting thin as paper, the automakers have two options increase the price every year or share components. BMW is doing both.
