Buick News: Buick Offering A 24 Month Lease To Up Sales
Adding nothing to GM's bottom line in the process. VW group can sell enough vehicles with seven different brands and make profit at better margin in its home W. European market, which is similar size to United States market, much to GM's envy. It was not number of brands but mismanagement of brands.

GM News: An Alliance Is Formed: GM Buys 7% Stake Into PSA Peugeot Citroën
Actually there is more synergy like you pointed out than originally perceived because both companies are so vastly different yet play in the same sand box in some key segments. The alliance can really cause a major heartburn to Germans, Japanese and Korean manufacturers and I like the secondary competitiveness it creates for market share. Drew and I were talking at Detroit show about consolidation of auto manufacturers in EU and China in next 5 years. Honestly we were expecting EU companies to duke it out not GM coming in. This is the first major move in the middlegame. I also like how there are no commitment terms unlike the Fiat fiasco last decade. The Italians docked GM for $2B+ in cash, which honestly saved Fiat from bankruptcy. Obama and Chrysler should thank GM indirectly. Frankly the news came so fast that people are still grasping on to the impact that's why no "editorials" or "expert opnions" are flying off at-random. I give credit to Ackerson's team here.

GM News: An Alliance Is Formed: GM Buys 7% Stake Into PSA Peugeot Citroën
After researching, I think I am giving a cautious yes to this idea for the following reasons: Financially I think investing in PSA means GM leveraging PSA than other ways around like how Dr. Z leveraged Chrysler. Logistically platform and engine sharing means better control over suppliers. Market wise, give heartburn to VW close to its own battle grounds, who thinks it is indestructible and also keep Toyota under check. Politically put some fire beneath German government and unions which have been real hard to negotiate.

Cadillac News: Is There A Smaller Cadillac In Store?
As usual you fail to read the crux and have an emotional copulation of GM hatred. This article is about going smaller with RWD. Indirectly GM is telling Alpha is not dead as MT wanted to prove. Let us see if you buy ANY GM RWD, because you will always come up with an excuse of GM not being best.

Chevrolet News:First Chevrolet Colorado Commercials show up
Pick up truck - the modern day interpretation of a horse. The embodiment of tool to get you anywhere, anytime, and carry any load without any fuss. A medium of providing perception of freedom and nonchalance. Love it or hate it, no sedanic mule or a pretentious SUV donkey can match its capabilities. All it needs is a little love and care from the owner and miles of any terrain are gobbled without a neigh.

Chicago 2012: 2013 GMC Acadia: Comments
Aren't you stretching the definition of badge engineering here? Not really...generally, the Silverado and Sierra differed only in the grille and badging..that was the case for decades up until the current generation. Trivial differences. Same w/ the Tahoe/Suburban/Yukon, vans, Colorado/Canyon, S10/S15, etc. I was referring to your comment about Outlook and Acadia. One is defunct the other one is MCE. So what if GM used the bins to make the vehicle look better. It is not badge engineering as those two vehicles are not on sale concurrently.

Buick News: 2013 Buick Regal Gets Some Ch-Ch-Changes
The 210 hp A4 costs as much or more than cars with 260-280 hp though. And it isn't like the A4' interior or feature content is amazing to compensate. For example, a 280 hp V6 Passat is about $29k. The A4 is just sort of a yawn car, and a wow price. Fixed.

Industry News: New Bill To Offer A Billion Dollar Prize To 100 MPG Vehicle
Are you absolutely sure that no competition will exist because of the corrupt activities? May be not in US, but countries who do not have power or much vested interest in crude oil are already looking into that alternative. Aren't people in this country clamoring to end oil dependence? Armed forces have a huge initiative on the same. Once the revolution starts with a competitive product, government and corporations will not overtly support the activities of dominance then the oil industry will go into survival mode. Just like OPEC came together to unify and charge people more, what is preventing OPEC to come together and destroy an industry with higher costs in short term by slashing prices so that long term it maintains the status quo? That is the reality. When domination enters survival mode, all bets are off. Oil companies have vast financial and political resources... I just can't see them allowing something to grow that threatens their existence. Allowing something not to grow is mutually exclusive to something will grow. Brazil already has something that is competing with oil industry.
