Nissan, Renault Want GM Stake
B-man, if GM sells, the Ghon will kill off most of the overlapping brands. No more Buick, Saturn, Pontiac, and GMC [name].

More Lacrosse "Super" Info
The thing is "Grand National" refered to NASCAR Regals back in the 80's. No LaCrosses in NASCAR now. GS has been played out by the older W bodies, unfortunately. Ultra sounds like the women's make up brand Ulta. Super is from the time when Buicks were premium cars, and some are 'collector cars'.

Skylark GS455 is more like it, ;-)

Honda to Build $500m Indiana Plant
Well, the big forwign companies just say 'we are thinking of..' and states fight for the work. Giving away taxpayers $$$. But then at election time the politco can say "I got us a plant". Can't blame it on the Big 3, it's with any industry looking for work. Even in Show Biz, states are offering $$ to get movies shot there.

Richard Gilligan retires from Mitsubishi
Toyota or Honda will buy out the MMC [formerly DSM] plant in Illionois I bet, and maybe lease space to Mitsu?

Chevy Quiz: How Many SS's Are in Excess?
There was a time in the mid 60's when Super Sport was a 'sporty' trim package and real performace SS's had the engine displacement after it. Such as an SS396 or SS427 vs. a Chevelle/Impala/Nova Super Sport with a 307. Yeah, the badge should mean more then top level trim, and the Malibu Maxx shouldn't have it.

G5
When it was an Oakland model in the 1920's? G5 should be more differentiated, and promoted as a Civic competitor. Not just a pacifier car for dealers.

The Final Act
GM has hung in there since 2001 when you know what happened. Last fall supposedly they were predicted to be bankrupt by now. And also I think some people need to get a life, too.

"remember the loss of Skyhawk, Skylark, Century, Regal, LeSabre, Park Avenue, Riviera, Roadmaster, Wagons and Coupes." Skyhawk - absolute $%#@!& badge job, no one remembers at all Skylark - old ladies car, and then ugly as sin, rental heck Century/Regal - replaced by LaCrosse, sells better, less fleet LeSabre - replaced by Lucerne V6 PA -Lucerne V8 Riv - big coupes are out Roadmaster - died to make room for more profitable Chevy/GMC trucks wagons and coupes - It aint the 70s!! Face reality, all the loyal customers who bought Buicks in the good old days are gone or cannot drive anymore. Catering only to them led to this. Same with the badge job cars. Buick is not chevy or Caddy, so why should it supposedly get 'everything'? It is PBG now, and stand alone Buick dealers are going away. GM has to make $$$ not just churn out badge job cars to give away free.

Why the new Camaro will fail
The main buyers will be drivers 35-60, who have the $$.

Another Recall for the Grand Cherokee
The pic posted is incorrect, it is not a 2000-2002, so no it isn't affecting new models.

GM Still Looks Weak, Says Analyst
It started back in the "Roger and Me" days. Some look at the 80's blissfully, as if Buick sold 1 million Turbo Regals. Wel, when your a baby or not born yets, sure it was the 'good old days'. But the first 'fire sale' was 1985, offering a then low 7.7%. [Thinking 1986 would be a fresh start] Yes, the 'good old days of 12% being 'prime'. So, no, Rick is not totaly responsible.

GM Death Watch 82: Cut and Run
yes this is "part 1098", still no 'death' yet? Didn't they predict early 2006 for Chapter 11??
-
More Lacrosse "Super" Info
1981-87 Regals had the sloped grille, very big in NASCAR [when they used real cars! ] anyway, AW says 'a year from now', so maybe the 2008 will be earlier than the usaul fall intros?

Why the new Camaro will fail
Camaros were shown on old TV show "Bewitched", with both Samanta or Darrin driving. My parents got a Mustang then as a 2nd car. So, the Pony cars were not originally 'muscle machines for young guys only'. If GM can market the new Camaro as well as they did from 1967-82, then it will sell. BTW: Even though it's not revered now, the Mustang II sold well against F bodies, and led to the huge aftermarket Fox based ones.

Chrysler: "Satisfaction guaranteed or money back!"
Most Saturn buyers who brought cars back wanted another color, anyway. The catch with DCX is there is a mileage penalty to pay. And seeing all the Durangos sitting at a local Mopar store, they got to move them. But how about not making so many!??

NG GMT 360 Shelved
Headline in today's Detroit News 'Chevy may junk TrailBlazer by 2010' I am sure some will be mad, but there are too many SUV's.

G5 IN SHOWROOMS SOON!!!!!!!
Well, Pontiac's #1 market is Chicago, and Sunfires had a following. It shoud do well here, [lots of Torrents around] but not sure where else. However, more Buick, GMC, and 'Poncho' dealers are merging here too. Maybe they can call it the 'GMC G5'??

'07 Sebring UNVEILED
Why only 232HP? $3.00 + gallon gasoline
-
'07 Sebring UNVEILED
I bet if this was a "2007 Pontiac Grand Am", most of C&G would "love it". Anyway, it is nice and good they kept a car name for once. It looks like a Chrysler, not a Hyundai or Suzuki.

Why the new Camaro will fail
The author brushes over the late 70's when the F body did well, and even at that it was 7 yers old! It appealed to a broad range of buyers from the base Camaros with a 305 V8 to the high end Trans Am's with 400's. What hurt was the gas crunch of 1979-81 and the 1970 era designs aging. The 82's were hot, but then they got too stereotypcial by later 80's.

NG GMT 360 Shelved
Best selling? I don't think so, and there are lots better choices now. The Extended ones were still to small inside compared to a GMT900.

Impala Impacts!
Hmm,, look at the BOF Ford Vic, so much for 'conventional wisdom' of BOF being "safer".

2010 Lucerne: RWD Zeta?
With gas prices high, and not coming down anytime soon, RWD V8 cars will not be the 'savior of GM'. Also, the RWD Mopars are slowing down. No the 1960's, with all RWD, are not coming back as some here think.

NG GMT 360 Shelved
#1 reason they are dropping, gas prices! If buyer can afford the gas, they will get a full sized truck. Ones that can't swing 100$ tank fills, are getting car based SUV's or cars period.
