  1. Maybe Fred Phelps will burn a Camaro in front of his church in response... Chris
  2. Tesla Roadster, anyone? There will be fun cars in the future, they will just take a very different form from the cars of today. Or maybe I'll just switch to motorcycles...my wife would kill me before the bike would.... Chris
  3. Keep us posted. There is a nice dark blue mid 80's Cadillac 4 door near me that seems really clean, but I don't like the color.
  4. Seriously, with the smart car out I'd bet that we will see some interesting variations on "city cars." This might actually work out to be a good idea for a city car in a small European city. However, it would suck major ass to drive that car across Wyoming. Chris
  5. Actually one of the most interesting crash tests I ever saw was a fighter jet that went into a concrete wall. Since it was travelling at 500MPH it didn't fare too well. Chris
  6. Actually this is why I like small cars in a way. Getting out of an accident is better than surviving one, and being able to react quickly has saved my sorry butt on many occasions.... Chris
  7. What Pontiac Model was named in honor of the guy who set several records racing/testing Pontiacs? Please name the Driver and the Car. Hint- was one of the longest running Pontiac name plates. Chris
  8. Same as the Bananna boat, wish there were more of these cars around... Chris
  9. Even those of us here who lust after say, a GTI Volkswagen or a MINI lust after the bananna boat. Just wish I could still find these cars in any kind of shape here in the midwest. Usually the resemble the Titanic when you go to check them out in person. I'm impressed with your ability to car shop, and also your desire to remain debt free. Chris
  10. ...and then these MORONS berate GM for building a low quality automobile and buy a Toyota... Chris
  11. Ditto, congrats on what you do as a car nut... Chris
  12. GM automatics are usually great... Chris
  13. Depends, I've seen a few that were never cared for that did fine...one in particular that ran 80,000 miles w/o an oil change, woman who owned it just kept topping it off...and it still ran fine... Chris
  14. The best thing is to work for people you want to see in office. Thinking seriously of volunteering for the Clintons if she is nominated. Chris
  15. The largest problem here is religion. The Hindus in India don't want to be overpopulated by the Muslims, the Muslims want to outpopulate the Christians, the Fundy Christians are reproducing like rabbits, some orthodox Jewish people don't believe in birth control, etc. Down play the role of religion first, and then you'll be able to start on the population problem, not before. Chris
  16. I know a physics professor at The Ohio State University who would profoundly agree with you. Chris
  17. He will make for shure the worlds ugliest woman if the Flybrianna thing is true... Chris
  18. We want the human race to survive and survive on a planet that is worth living on. Since I have children this concerns me greatly. Chris
  19. The Volt won't get here a day too soon. Sadly, I think my days driving my Safari van are numbered. Chris
  20. Exactly. Why in India do families still have 9 children? Chris
  21. Actually auto's use something like 14% of the energy we use, so to be fair here are my real world suggestions, of which I think we can't do without... 1. Shut the damned lights off in commercial buildings wwhen no one is there. Cities are full of buildings where there are tons of large buildings burning lights that don't need burned. There are intelligent building energy management systems in use now that can acomplish this painlessly. 2. A real world rail system, including a passenger system that doesn't go from nowhere to nowhere in the middle of the night. 3. Cut down on the size of our retail stores. Why do we need nine million varieties of dogfood, six million varieties of breakfast cereal, a billion kinds of soda, etc? Or why do we need a ton of clothing stores at the mall? This is all space that is heated and cooled at great expense. Smaller stores and more online buying would mean more money available and more choices for those who like nice clothes, not less. 4. Cut down on the amount of busieness travel. The airline industry uses enormous amounts of energy. 5. Stop importing so much stuff. Moving all this stuff (mostly junk) from east asia to the west coast and then across America uses huge amounts of energy. We would do better to build things locally. 6. Cut down on school consolidation. More smaller schools. We wate huge amounts of time busing kids long distances, and they are in much less a state to learn after an hour bus ride to school. Just a few thoughts, there are millions of ways more to save energy that don't involve automobiles as a main culprit. Chris
  22. This is one reason why I'd like their to be an alternative to petroleum to power our cars. Part of me would really like to drive a Tahoe daily. Although it would be interesting to see a Tahoe/Escalade collision. Chris
  23. Actually I hate stereotypes but...as a strait guy I've found that a lot of the most creative, enteresting, informed, whatever people that love cars happen to be gay. I am even thinking about joining the local Lamda car club. They have some great people involved...and like the Local Miata club, they seem to know a lot of good local places to get together for a good meal for meetings, etc. Seriously, thanks for sharing this with me. Although my wife and three daughters will want to know why I am now surifing Gaywheels.com on the internet. Chris
