  1. Over at Miatanet one of our regular posters just had his barn/garage distroyed. In his barn were his 63 Corvette convertible and 70 SS-454 Chevelle. He lost quite a few other antique cars as well. OUCH! Chris
  2. BTW, didn't mean to diss the CTS, which is one of my favourite vehicles. If the tranny is really that good I'll see if I can find my way behind the wheel of one to check it out! Also, agree with you 100% about the Toyota-best use of the Solera ragtop is to be purchased by our military as a rolling target for artillary practice. By the way, how is the CTS tranny in regular mode in the mountains or in really bad icy winter weather? IMHO this kind of driving seems to be the real test of an auto. Chris
  3. A new Monte that would be that size would be cool. And while I am not a huge Mopar fan, enzl is right, why can't we just celebrate this car as something cool? Chris
  4. Pushing Daisy's and Numb3rs are the only two I watch. Actually I am not much of a TV guy. For the first eleven or twelve year sof my marriage I didn't even own a TV set. Actually, in Feb. of 1990 I watched "the simpsons" at a friends house and didn't watch a full half hour of network TV again until about 2000. But Pushing Daisy's is a hell of a show. I also used to watch Joan of Arcadia. Chris
  5. The economy of the whole midwest is slowing way down. In my neighborhood houses were selling at about $200-$235k a couple of years ago. Right now they are going for about 150K, and that 150k will buy a 4 bedroom 2200 sq foot house on a quarter of an acre. Does that tell you anything? Michigan is worse than Ohio. My cousin lives there and I have several friends who are from Michigan or have family there. Damn shame, as the midwest is a fine place to live. Dave87rs, are you doing ok, seriously? Sorry to see things are going so much to crap. Back when I was in college.went out a few times with a very nice girl who was from a detroit suburb (forget which one). Her neighborhood was going through the same thing. IIRC her parents finally got the hell out and moved to Arizona or something. I'm here in Ohio, let me know if you need anything, even if you just want me to drive up with a case of beer and help you polish the 'balt up a little bit. Chris
  6. Forget the Cutlass, It's a GM product. I nominate my wife's Mazda! Chris
  7. So what gives? Started on the shadow yet? Chris
  8. The economy is falling on its face. Luxury cars will be one of the first things to go. Chris
  9. That would account for a good bit of it. I wish the Astra well and may even end up with one in the driveway. Contrary to what a couple of other people have posted here, IMHO it is a wonderful car and a brilliant decision at GM. Just hope people with money in their pockets agree with me. Chris
  10. The real future of Scion? I see the whole thing coming apart at the seams, seriously. There just doesn't seem to be much real interest in the new xB or the xD, and the TC is fading rapidly in sales. What do you all seriously see happening here? Chris
  11. How did GM convince its dealers to accept a car that was going to sell at 30-40k a year vs. the Ion that was selling at like 150k a year? Won't this be a lot of lost sales for Saturn? Chris
  12. Off topic, there is a local E-350 diesel with over a million miles on it. My old neighbor had a F-150 that was 700,000 plus. High mileage domestic trucks are not a rare thing. But this is cool none the less. Maybe I can get 300,000 plus out of my Safari! Chris
  13. I wonder if it will out distance that 2.6 million mile Volvo. Chris
  14. CR has started calling Toyota to account which is a good thing. Chris
  15. Chrysler needs to have one small and one midsized product period and put their design efforts into those two cars. Caliber/Avenger/Sebring/PT Cruiser et all should be reduced to just two cars. Actually the powertrain and engeneering in this car is impressive. Starting to think the Caliber just needs to be the right color to look better. In black the angualrity of the car seems to die down and it looks a little softer, which helps it. Just my two cents, Chris
  16. I actually thought the reviewer should have been kinder to the Chrysler product. they seemed to have some below the surface doubts about the G6 but still put it in first place. Chris
  17. As an aside it is amazing how much we waste environmentally by building big flashy buildings and then tearing them down. In ten or 15 years those buildings will be "dated" and they will be torn down to build the next white elephant. Chris
  18. There is a 70 Cutlass ragtop for sale here in Columbus with those stupid 26" wheels and 4 tv sets and all the other Gangsta crap...I want so bad to go buy that car and save it. But the $13,000 they want for it is too much for a project car. Chris
  19. Enjoy the HHR. Great vehicle, can't beat a small wagon like that with a family. Chris
  20. Ditto on the brake thing, otherwise pretty bulletproof. Chris
  21. Mobil 1 it may well be. The dealer inspection thing makes sense also, they would know what usually goes wrong. Thanks! Chris
  22. Find someone who can weld-it doesn't need to be pretty. I wouldn't drive the car long distance, however. Chris
  23. Being a fan of GM, Mazda and MINI I thought it was a great month. Was really glad to see Hyundi and Kia down bigtime. Chris
  24. Again, diesels would make great sense in the HUMMER lineup. Fuel costs will be huge for truck owners, and there are lots of people who need trucks for buisiness reasons. the sooner GM can get more diesels to market the better. Chris
  25. When it comes to spin from the automotive media I never understimate the products of my bowls. Chris
