Honda is no dummy. They are letting GM pay the price for money losing tech no one wants. It's called risk management and it is a brilliant move by Honda, we've all heard their stance on EVs... they see no reason to invest heavily in BS. This is for Honda to be compliant with draconian regulations that are counter-customer.

dfelt has too much faith in the level of common sense among the motoring public. Does he really think anyone pulls their wheels to check their brake lining life, let alone their tire tread depth? Does he really believe they put their car on a lift and check for rust holes? Wow. An advocate of "zero maintenance" EVs believes this?

dfelt... omg HID headlights have an HID controller box on the bottom of the housing. Some headlights steer with the steering wheel. And etc. etc., there are many features on a modern headlight. This is not 1973. Why would a headlight need to meet Department of Energy requirements? Then you have LED headlights. You think they're cheap? You want everyone to drive an EV but you are stuck in the far past when it comes to headlights... LOLWUT?

It is an auto safety thing, dfelt. If a light is broken out or a mirror broken off, or the door is pinned shut, etc. etc. Think about it. As for the mechanical side, citizens need their cars running to get to and from the grocery store, doctor, etc.

I would not go with aftermarket headlights. They are complete junk. Unfortunately some ins companies will only pay for aftermarket. LOL that is for cheap aftermarket crap. LOL more complicated than that.

My job is "essential" to the Commonwealth, so I am still going in on a split schedule, M-T-W 8-2. So I am still getting inside ppl's nasty-ass cars to take the necessary insurance photos. Our governor has just recommended we wear masks when we leave the house.

Has anyone actually priced a headlight replacement lately? Through the roof. And not just for Germans. A Corolla, for example, has standard HID headlights and they are over $1100 just for the assembly, not including labor.

I will always love RWD for driving feel and balance, etc., but the Aurora was sort of a replacement for the Toronado, and the Toro's claim to fame was FWD. I remember when they took the Oldsmobile name off the cars for a while, saying they wanted to highlight the model names over the brand name. Unbelievable that GM felt the word "Oldsmobile" was an embarrassment.

I like it overall. It looks luxurious without being stuffy. The blue and brown interior is my favorite.
