I had the same impression when I checked it out on the weekend too. Just another Aura. I'm sick of the same old steering wheel, sick of the standard radio/hvac controls, below average plastics, and the bland colour scheme didn't help much. It was a preproduction LS model with a 3.5L engine. The other thing that stuck out in my mind was "damn these rear doors are huge!".

Good luck buying a new Lexus from the US. Dealers have been instructed not to sell to people who don't have a US address. This is the big difference between importing cars and other consumer goods. At the very least hopefully this lawsuit keeps more manufacturers from doing the same (Toyota/Lexus are not the only ones). There is a lot of discussion about importing on the forums of redflagdeals.com. GM vehicles can be imported but they will not honour the warranty for the first 6 months. How does a new Corvette for $45K Canadian sound? Its been reported that Canadian dealers have also been instructed not to honour aftermarket warranties of imported vehicles as well.

Fair review. Its no best in class world beater but people will buy it because it looks good and is decently priced. XR buyers will have to buy winter rims/tires if they live where it snows apparently. 1 cupholder/no armrest would be a pain in the ass. I have a cup or two a day.. A Timmies in the morning when I want to feel like a lemming in the drive thru line up. I know some people who are very sensitive to caffeine and get really wired from one cup. I think an average cup has about 3x the amount of caffeine as a pop. The cold "ice cap" type stuff must be loaded with sugar too so that could have something to do with it. I tried it once and it was way too sweet for me.

The rear wheel arch of the current Passat seems so much smaller than the front from some angles, its a real disappointment to me and the car look average at best. The 2001.5 redesign is a very handsome car.

Not a huge fan of either's looks but to me the Altima is a bit too much wannabe G35 and well equipped gets pretty up there in price. The TV ads up here show one equipped at $40K Canadian, basically $39K USD. I like the fact the Accord 6 cylinder takes regular unleaded and wil probably be more fuel efficient to boot, those VQ's can be thirsty.
