Hmmm ...
If you don't want to do DIY, an older car isn't such a great idea - that's a given. As for Fords, they seem to have a much shorter lifespan.

Good luck! Keep us posted.

Hmmm ...
That's due to the fact that so many are still on the road - and worth fixing. They still hold a great deal of value for their age, even at 200 or even 300K. And, they really aren't difficult to work on. Their only terminal disease is rust. If that is too far along, walk away.

Hate to come back to the forum like this
I think you just got caught between a bad dealer and a good one - be glad the good one is your local shop. GM should, and probably will, cover you for all of it.

Glad it worked out for you - my experience was much the same as yours. Good luck with the bleeders. And yes, all new cars and trucks should have stainless lines! If they made it an option, I'd pay for it happily.

Hmmm ...
That's rust ahead of the rear wheel - it's the spot where it always shows up on these. Wheels - not original Dash - a bit of a mess But these 2-doors rarely go for such a low price (don't hold your breath for a better deal). Very much a base unit, but looks ok overall. I could use a part or two off of it.

Saw it on Facebook (FOG posted it). Just disgusting. I hope Chevy does get involved.

Outside (and cheap steel). The spraying of brine solutions onto roads over the last few years is really destroying cars and trucks these days. It's like going back into time to the 70s when everything rusted within a few years. For a while there (late 80s through the early 2000s ) nothing seemed to rust out around here - now not so much.

My pleasure. I don't think I'll ever replace brake lines with anything but stainless again. And, the folks at Inline Tube seem to have their act together.

Lots of good info on this page for your truck, Balthy: http://www.inlinetube.com/Preformed%20Lines/Web%20Line%20Listings/CT-CAT-99-06Main.htm

Check with Inline Tube - got all the lines for the wagon in stainless for a couple hundred. Not only are they stainless, they are all pre-bent. If DOT was worth a $h!, stainless brake lines would be a required feature of new vehicles. But they'd rather mandate silly things like back-up cameras.

What features & options do you want to see on the new 2014 full-size trucks?
Also, realize that with the suspension lift the rear wheels do not intrude into all the way into the bed as on a normal pickup. Those bedside "bumps" are for the Rambox-like storage bins on the top (reason for the "bumps" to be so tall). Lots to look at and consider in the pics and the description.

Just for grins, DF, check how long it would take you to get the RWD 307 starter vs. the FWD 307 starter. I'm curious. If you can't take the time, I understand. But it would be cool to know. Parts availability can be a very weird thing, I've had really basic stuff be unobtainable, and obscure stuff be really easy. Almost everything I bought for the wagon was no more than a 1 day wait, for example.

Not having a 307 starter in store I can see, but I would expect it next day. Now an E-body only 307 starter is a different ballgame.

See the white "line" at the bulkhead and on both sides of the inside pickup box? Those are white LEDs that light up the cargo bed. Works great, from what I saw of it at the 2011 NYIAS. Plus if you had a tonneau cover in place, it still works great compared to a roof-mounted cargo lamp. Got any more info/pics on this bed concept, Roger?
