1. I'm home today because my 2 y-o old (Justin) has pink eye, an ear infection and swollen glands (sore throat). No way he's going to day care!!! Anyway, we watched CARS for the umpteenth time today, and each time I watch it I try to look at what cars have made it into the movie. Here's what I've observed and found through some brief Internet searching: Lightning McQueen: modified Ford GT40 Cruisin McQueen: repainted in the colors of the Corvette from the TV seires "Route 66" Ramone: 1959 Chevrolet Impala Luigi: 1959 Fiat 500 Guido: ISO Isetta Doc Hudson: 1951 Hudson Hornet Sheriff: 1949 Mercury Fillmore: '60s VW Microbus Sarge: 1945 Ford GPW or a Willys Jeep Sally: 2002 Porsche 911 Carrera Lizzie: 1923 Ford Model T Stanley: Stanley Steamer Flo: Not any one particular concept, but shares elements of the 1951 Buick LeSabre, the 1951 Buick XP-300 and the 1957 Chrysler Dart Boost: 1994 Mitsubishi Eclipse Wingo: 2000 Nissan Silvia DJ: 2004 Scion xB Snot Rod: 1970 Plymouth Barracuda Chick Hicks: 1980s Buick Regal/Grand National The King: 1970 Plymouth Superbird Mrs. The King: 1974 Chrysler Town and Country station wagon Darrell Cartrip: 1977 Chevy Monte Carlo race car Bob Cutlass: Oldsmobile Aurora Mia & Tia (twins): first generation Mazda Miata Mack: '70s or '80s MACK Superliner Rusty: 1964 Dodge A100 Dusty: 1963 Dodge Dart Tex: 1975 Cadillac Coupe De Ville Red: Peter Pirsch Fire Truck TJ Hummer: Hummer H1 SUV Sven "The Governator": Hummer H1 Mater: 1951 International Harvester L-170/mid-'50s GM Truck (Chevy or GMC) *IMDB.com states that Mater is an IH; however, I think he looks more like a '55-'57 Chevy (or GMC) truck. Here's a picture of the IH they state he looks like and you can judge for yourself: Anyone else that's watched the movie several times now () see anything else, or have corrections to my list above?

Now I didn't have Internet access at home for almost two weeks, and even at work the last week it was hard to find time to visit C&G. Did you ever make an announcement that you ordered an Acadia? I must have missed it along the way if you did! Btw, how are you feeling today?
3. That's cool that you're putting the RM sedan's frontend on the Estate wagon. Buick should have done that from the factory, especially to diffeentiate it from the Chevy Caprice wagon. I know I've seen pictures online within the last year of other Estate owners that did this conversion. Keep us updated and post pics soon.
4. That's exactly how my dad felt, and 99% of the vehicles I grew up with were two-door/coupes. My parents finally made the change to 4-door/sedans with their last two purchases - mom with her '05 Saturn VUE AWD and dad with his '06 Pontiac G6 V6. Their last car purchases included a '02 Pontiac Sunfire SE coupe and a '95 Chevy Monte Carlo LS. Why the change? One word - GRANDKIDS!
5. Sorry to say, but that is a single-zone HVAC system. The knob to the left controls fan speeds and the knob to the right controls teh temperature settings. Look at them again, on the left knob you see the white notches denoting fan speeds and on the right you see blue (cold) & red (hot) markings. And in this picture - http://jalopnik.com/photogallery/09chevyca...spy1/1000599999 - look underneath the hazard lights button and see the CENTRAL LOCKING system. Pretty cool feature if I say so myself. Is this GM's first model to offer central locking???
6. While I'm sure I would love the look of the CTS wagon and want one too, I know for sure it would be priced too far out of the price range I need to be in. And on Hyper's reasoning, shouldn't GM cancel the G8 sedan too becuase it will steal sales of the new CTS???
7. Okay, now all that needs to be greenlighted is the G8 Sportswagon version for GMNA. (wait a minute, am I becoming another "68" with this wagon ranting?!?! j/k man! )
8. The Office (NBC) <--- really, really, really, missing new episodes of this every Thursday Life (NBC) My Name Is Earl (NBC) Law & Order: Special Victims Unit/SVU (NBC) American Idol (Fox)
9. ocn, do you know where the used "Saturn" S-series only dealer is in Lancaster? Every time I'm in the area I pickup the Auto Shopper and some other larger used car mag and see this dealer's advertisement.
10. That's cool! Another one to add to your growing collection. I looked at a '93 SW1 at my dealership when I was there with the AURA for service at the end of December. It was parked in the back and looked as if it was waiting for the wholesaler to come pick it up. I'm keeping my eye out for a '95 SW2 with an automatic. I've always liked the first generation station wagons and like the interior upgrade of the '95s the best.
11. Thanks ocn... in my haste, I forgot to include 2007 plus 2008. How about all of our "All Terrain" owners here? Care to share your average MPG to date?
12. Camino, I gotta tell you ever since this news has broken, I can't stop thinking about the G8 ST. I just got rid of a 2-seater roadster <SKY> because of it's limited usefulness with family-hauling duties, so buying another 2-seater vehicle should really be off my radar. But, it does have a useable bed and I could use it as my daily driver (it would be nice if the G8 ST came equipped with a passenger deactivation switch like the Sonoma/S10s had so I could install Justin's car seat in it without concerns). Now if I could find an older but safe & reliable family car to use, maybe the G8 ST could work out for me. I'd much rather have the G8 Sportwagon though
13. To all of the 2008 Sierra 1500 owners out there, would you mind telling me (and any others with inquiring minds) what kind of average MPG you're getting with the varied uses you are putting your truck through? I'm curious what the actual numbers are with the adjusted-for-2008 EPA ratings. TIA!
14. Nope, you're not allowed to ever miss it again! Behind the right hand door is access to an electrical panel, as seen here in this picture: And you'd be guessing very wrong about the visit to the cab... they did allow you to climb the stairs, 1-2 people at a time and sit in both the passenger seats and in the driver's seat. I asked a gentleman to take my picture while I was seated in the driver's seat I wasn't sure exactly when I'd get an ooportunity to do that again. On a sad note, it doesn't seem as if the Futurliner will be making it's way back to the Northeast any time in 2008, and who knows about 2009 at this point. I've been in contact with a couple of the "big wigs" about what it takes to bring this puppy out to shows and the point-blank answer is $$$money$$$. They have to pay for the trailering and driver, plus any other costs dealing with the transportation. And I'm assuming hotel room and other accomodations for the truck driver and NATMUS crew who travel with it. So unless a show makes money to spend money like that, I don't know who else other than the AACA and maybe the Carlisle Fairgrounds owners may be able to do that. For those in any of the following areas, here's the 2008 show listing: March 14 = AACA GRAND NATIONAL - Melbourne, FL March 15 = AACA Southeast Winter Meet - Melbourne, FL April 4-5 = AACA Southeast Spring Meet - Charlotte, NC June 1 = CCCA National - Red Barns, Hickory Corners, Michigan June 7 = Fleetwood Country Cruizein - London, Ontario, Canada June 27-28 = Sloan Summer Fair - Flint, Michigan July 4-6 = Haggerty Insurance, Traverse City, Michigan August 17 = Pebble Beach - Pebble Beach, CA August 22 & 23 = Metro Cruise - Grand Rapids, Michigan

QUOTE(balthazar @ Jan 27 2008, 10:52 PM) So there's no info available from B.C. telling who joined when? No admin has a List? :sneaky: I'm curious too... I thought I joined in late 2000, but seeing bobo's post where C&G came to life in November of 2001 is making me think about exactly when did I join? I know I had the 2001 GMC Sonoma Highrider at the time, and I was working at New Brunswick High School when I came aboard (I remember checking after school all the time). I left there in June 2002, so I had to join somewhere between December '01 and June '02.

K.C., you will be in my prayers tonight. I'm hoping that your recovery will be quick and that you'll be back in normal working order in no time. The Av may be gone, but it held up just enough so that you could make it out alive.
17. Bolded so that the powers to be at GM that read our posts can see the "light at the end of the tunnel" on how to make the G8 sedan, G8 ST, and hopefully the G8 Sportwagon a sales success in the US. GM, you'd do best to reign in on your Pontiac dealers if you want the G8 launch and continued sales to do well.
18. Just in case the wife doesn't take any time off that week (we'll all be on Spring Break, as usual), when the date is decided post it here please - I may join up with you guys too. If she goes, then we go at her discretion
19. Well, if you had attended the 2006 AACA Fall Meet in Hershey, PA with some of us C&Gers (me, oldsmoboi, ocnblu), your wish would have been granted:
20. I like it, although I'm not as gaa-gaa about it like I thought I would be. Maybe it's the color choice they went with (I'm not a fan of orange on most modern-day trucks). I like this angle of it the best of all that have been shown so far:
21. First off, congrats Camino on your wish coming true. I'm sure you've been doing nothing but day-dreaming about colors and options, and any mods you can perform ASAP! Second, please PM me the e-mail addresses of the "right" :AH-HA_wink: people at GM that you've been bombarding to make this a reality for you. I need to send them 15-20 e-mails a day to make the G8 Sportswagon a reality for me. I cruised through a not-to-far-away GMC dealership's lot today to take in all of their Sierras (surprisingly, they've already begun to cut-back on their usual stock amount ). Looking at the fuel economy ratings, and realizing gas prices will exceed $3-$4 soon, made me very depressed on the fact I may not end up with what I really want. However, the option of a G8 Sportwagon could make that depression go away I too have my doubts that the G8 Sportwagon is a dead issue. GM, please don't make me wait too much longer... I'm beggining here!
22. I've gone every year since '95, and this year will be no different!
23. I'd like to have seen that on the list, especially since HW's has the '94-'99 generation already. I've only got the Camaro, and the tooling isn;t any different from the regualr line model. These HW's, including the HW's CLASSIC's line, are all about metal chasis, special metallic paints, and I'm assuming speed wheels and/or rubber tires. The Vette and Viper have been featured numerous times in the regular "CLASSICS" series (I looked at the Viper in the next peg where I found the Camaro). This new series is including cars that have not already been featured in the CLASSICS series.
24. Hot Wheels is celebrating their 40th Anniversary in 2008 and has introduced a new series called "Modern Classics". I've seen these cars only at Wal-Mart so far. Here's the list of cars, as featured on the blister pack: Honda Civic Si Datsun 240Z '70 Nova '70 Ford Torino '92 Ford Mustang '77 Pontiac Firebird '83 Silverado Buick Grand National Custom '07 Ford Mustang '80 El Camino 1970 Plymouth Road Runner '67 Shelby GT-500 '68 Olds 442 Dodge Challenger Concept Camaro Concept I've only seen the Civic, Datsun and Camaro Concept so far, but it seems a few more from the series have shown up on eBay. I'll try to get some pictures and post them in here. I personally can't wait to find the '83 Silverado and the '80 El Camino
25. Amen Duncan!!! While I prefer trucks/suvs to cars, it doesn't mean that I won't buy a car if it can do what I need/ask of it. With gas prices on the rise, I may not be able to afford both the monthly payment AND the weekly gas costs of a full-size pickup (what I really want). The Pontiac G8 Sportwagon would have definitely been high up on my shopping list, and most likely parked in my garage, when I am in the market again (summer/fall of 2009). GM has given up on a potential market without testing the water for themselves (just because Dodge is giving up on the Magnum doesn't mean GM can;t take over the market).
