I for sure thought you were going to say here that your Sierra was damaged. While the glass door being broken is not much better, I must say I'm relieved that the truck is okay. Good luck getting the door fixed and don't let this ruin your Thanksgiving. Maybe meeting the officer was a blessing in disguise?!?!
  2. Fixed! Thanks for the suggestions and comments so far. I will take many of them into consideration too. I still love Tonka trucks and I still play with trucks of all kinds (toys, real, etc). I know that Ford has been using "Tonka" in regards to their show trucks, but I'll always think of any truck I own as my real "Tonka" truck. I've attached five more of the same wording (just plain old TONKA this time)... they are all on those specialty plates. Just curious for your feedback. And if you'd like to make a suggestion for any of the specialty plates, NJ only allows a maximum of 5 characters/spaces to be used on these plates.
  3. I really wanted to get the SKY a personalized license plate, but could never decide on one thing and never really liked any of the suggestions I got from family & friends. Since I'm planning to part with the SKY, it is no longer a desire. However, seeing as how I intend to get a certain type of vehicle <not mentioning b/c I want to see what you posters think my suggestion means first> in 2009 or as a 2010, I've started playing with some ideas. Look at the picture I attached and tell me what you think it means and if you like it (NJ only allows up to 7 characters/spaces, FYI).
  4. "go harder.... that's what she said!" For all you The Office fans!
  5. I like TranSport too. It fits the vehicle well. Most likely if it's used, it will be G8 TranSport. Pontiac G8 Ute would also work, though it's not creative enough.
  6. Please, please, whatever you do don't start to like GMC next LOL!
  7. With the official start-of-holiday-shopping day known as "Black Friday" quickly approaching, what is everyone asking for this year? Due to our financial situation, we're concentrating less on adults (including ourselves) and more on making the Christmas holiday for the children in our family a nice one. Anyone hoping to get that one (or two or three or more!) special present? If so, what is it?
  8. Okay, I really want these wagons to be available in calendar year 2009. That picture above is just b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l! I really, really, realy hope GM gains some sensibility and brings this version of the G8 over soon. While I like the G8 sedan, the sportwagon (aka station wagon) is what I'd spend my money on in a heartbeat. Pontiac would definitely have this one time loyal owner back again.
  9. Does anyone else feel that the tailight design shown below is what should have been used on the Pontiac G8???
  10. The current Grand Prix is as good as dead. My very small Pontiac-Buick-GMC dealership maybe carries 2-3 brand new GPs at any time, and they are the bottom feeders of the MSRP range for those wonderful low lease price ads (not that they've featured the GP in any of their ads in the last two years). My close friend owns a '05 GP and he's not been happy with it and can't wait for the day that he can replace it (which is a shame, as he has always loved the GP and couldn't wait to get another one). I loved my wife's 2000 GP GT sedan, but once Pontiac came out with the "two-steps backward" 2004+ GP, they lost me as a GP customer. I feel the G8, while the name sucks and it's not as "Pontiac" with its exterior design, is still a better Pontiac than what has been offered since the last generation GP, Bonneville, and Firebird/Formula/Trans Am, and even the GTO (which suffered due to its outdated exterior styling). Most "die-hard" Pontiac fans feel that once the Pontiac V8 died in or shortly after 1979, so did the Pontiac brand. Those in that catergory also don't even support the brand today, or even in the late '80s and throughout the '90s. Die-Hard, while I can appreciate your passion for the brand, Pontiac sold mostly to women in the '90s (Sunfire, Grand Am, Grad Prix were all big sellers to women buyers) and Pontiacs were still basically "upgraded" Chevies. For Pontiac to survive, they have to differentiate themselves even more from Chevy & Saturn (move to RWD/AWD) and find the true Pontiac styling that once existed and got people excited. Holden will help with the RWD/maybe AWD part for now, even if the exterior & interior styling aren't up to par with die-hard Pontiac fans (I for one like the G8 and I have not considered a Pontiac since the Bonnville died in '05 - which I couldn't afford the Bonne I waned anyway, a GXP sedan). The G8 is on my radar, and maybe the Torrent for the wife. But other than that, the G5 is too small, I prefer my Saturn AURA over the G6, I love my SKY more than the Solstice, and the current Grand Prix turns me off completely. I grew up with and learned how to drive on a '83 Pontiac Grand Prix LJ, owned a '95 Trans Am, leased a '99 Pontiac Grand Am GT sedan, and shared the wife's '00 GP GT sedan. And I love many of the Pontiacs offered throughout 1926-2005. So for me to say that I don't care - outside of the G8 & Torrent - about today's Pontiac lineup means something. I'm glad you love the GP and are getting one next month - it works for you. But until GM and Bob Lutz put some new models in the lineup, I'll continue to go to Saturn or Buick or hopefully one day Cadillac for my GM car needs. PCS, you have your reasons for your hatred of Holden and that I can respect. But for me, as a former owner of Pontiacs and one who is not interested much in the current lineup, I am excited that Holden is here to help Pontiac move back to where it once was prior to 1980. You can hate them all you want, but realize that others here don't share that hatred and are waiting to see how else Holden will help reinvent Pontiac. I will say that while the G8 isn't the best styled offering from Pontiac, it is much better than the regrilled G5 and too-soft G6 (which is an attractive car, but not what is relighting the fire with consumers). So with Holden's help, Pontiac may find new customers. Once GM sees the $$$ flowing back into that division, maybe more R&D money will be allowed and the NA designers can have their say again. If you're going out of your way to prevent Zeta from happening, then you must not really care about the future of Pontiac. Which is sad in itself, seeing how you are a gloried Pontiac owner.
  11. Oh I don't think so mister! You go out there and take a nice shot of that beautiful Sierra of yours and submit it to Fly ASAP. I will not tolerate missing out on your Sierra! I know the perfect place/spot to take a picture of the SKY. It needs a bath and I'm not sure how the weather will be this weekend, but I will definitely try to get a nice shot of the SKY to submit. Even though my SKY was in last year's calendar (with the AURA too), this year I think a solo pic is in order. I suggest all of us C&Ger's take pics of our ride(s) and then let the membership vote which ones make it into the calendars, assuming there are enough submissions!
  12. +1No need to repeat reason!
  13. Saturn dealers would be furious!!! If that was brought here as-is, it isn't much different from the Saturn VUE (basically it's just a new grille insert). I for one can't wait to see what GMC offers when Pontiac no longer sells the Torrent, but if we're just getting a re-grilled VUE for GMC, then keep the Torrent in Pontiac's stable. I do however like the name "Terrain", but feel it would need something better for the NA market.
  14. That's one nice looking Silverado shortie! One of my local Chevy dealers had a black one similar to your red one this past summer. I've been by recently and can only see that they had regualr cab shortbeds, but not sure if they're all dolled up or just basic work trucks. Maybe if I get a chance on Sunday, I'll check their lot out. If my computer wasn't acting up (we've been borrowing my mother-in-law's laptop the last two months), I'd post the pic I took of it because from the angle I shot, it almost looks like the truck has a sportside (stepside) bed (Chevy's rear fender flares look similar to a sportside bed, whereas the Sierra's rounded flare does not).
  15. I gave up on that dream about two years after the trucks officially debuted for sale. The S-Series sportsides were a sharp looking truck, especially with the ZQ8 sport suspension package. But it seems once GM came out with the GMT-355s, only the Hummer H3 got any attention. The Canyon & Colorado have not had anything special done to them since their release in the late summer of 2003. It's such a shame that GM has practically abandoned this segment. These trucks should have had a major update like the Malibu, since they both came out at the same time (2004 MY in 3Q CY 2003).
  16. Congrats on becoming a father. You will find it to be the best present you could ever receive. Well, at lease that's how I see it with my 2 y-o son Justin (car & truck shows have gotten to be more fun now that I take him with me :AH-HA_wink:). Don't ever be afraid to ask "fatherhood" questions around here... you've got the many experienced to the many just-gaining-experience to pool from. Well, if you have a son, Fireman Sam, Bob the Builder, and of course Sesame Street will also be good to know about! I've never been a big fan of PBS, but Justin watches a lot of Sprout TV (PBS channel for kids). "Musical Mornings" and "The Good Night Show" are blessings in those times of need!
  17. Thanks for the responses so far... keep 'em coming! For comparison, I average about 16 MPG with my Envoy, and that is combined city/highway driving as the wife and I share it during the week (I do all local driving, her's is 90% highway). That is with the Atlas I6 engine, 4-speed auto, locking rear differential, AutoTrac 4wd (mostly in 2wd mode), and it's the regular length Envoy (not an XL). The reason I ask is that I'm curious as to what I could expect in a Sierra Crew Cab, Z71 4wd. I'm at least two years away from the lease-end on the AURA, but with all the talk about $4+ higher gas prices, I was wondering what owners of the GMT-900's are getting on average from their pickups. I know that these trucks are not gas misers, but they are very good on fuel consumption compared to others in their same class. And not that I need a diesel, but with talks about GM putting the 4.5l diesel in the 1500's, I'm wondering if that would be better financially in the future on my wallet and fuel consumption?
  18. Any 2007 or 2008 GMC Sierra/Chevy Silverado owners that would like to post here (or send me a PM) about what kind of average MPG you've been getting? It would be helpful to my inquiring mind - I'm curious as to what "real world" MPG numbers look like. It probably would be good to know whether you have a reg/ext/crew cab, 2wd or 4wd, and what size engine you've got under the hood. Thanks in advance!
  19. How do you know you're from New Jersey? When you hear Levittown and think of Bucks County! Yes, Virginia, there is another Levittown (and it's more popular than the one in PA). Just messin' with you!! A very belated Happy Birthday to you, you '80s Toronado freak!
  20. Maybe bigger things are on the way with the GMT-355 pickups if GM is going to wait until the 2009 M-Y to introduce the V8 engine option? Maybe a very quietly kept MCE is on the way, and having the V8 debut with the new look would make the small trucks a bigger splash at intro time? Don't forget that the Hummer H3T is coming for 2009, so maybe more changes are in order for the Canyon/Colorado twins. Hopefully GM won't keep us in the dark too long (Detroit, Chicago, NYC shows?). While I want to like the Canyon Crew Cab Z71 4wd, I'm more drawn to the style and features of the Sierra (although I don't require a truck, I prefer them to cars). If there were enough changes made to the Canyon for 2009, I might be willing to give them a closer look over the Sierra (and I'm sure the fuel consumption would be a little bit better in the Canyon).
  21. Even though GMC states in the 2008 Canyon brochure that the V8 won't be available until early 2008, they did plaster the brochure with pictures of the Canyon with the V8 emblem. I guess if they fully cancel or delay the the option even further, a new brochure will have to be made without the V8 emblems all over the place. It's a shame, because for many, many, many years now enthusiasts of GM's small truck offerings have been waiting for a factory V8 engine option.
  22. Fly, some of us are waiting patiently for those pics you promised! :AH-HA_wink:
  23. A one-owner '92 GMC Yukon SLE 2-door... oh man, you're one lucky guy. Needless to say, I'm jealous too!!!
  24. In 2005 the wife really wanted the Terraza, but due to leasing costs it wasn't in our price range. We ended up with the Envoy, and while I would have liked the extra seating and DVD player in the Terraza, I'm much happier with the Envoy. Same goes for it's replacement next year... I'd much rather have a Lambda crossover than a Lambda minivan. But GM should have been smarter and covered both bases like what I suggested in post #7.
