  1. Sal, no one here is completely ok with Cadillac losing all its mainstream V8 offerings. But that's not gonna be the situation forever. Since the Northstar is gone and the Gen IV smallblock engines only have a few years left, we're all waiting to see the next generation of V8 engines from GM and what they'll offer. And, as has been said, there are plans for a fullsize RWD Cadillac (and ostensibly V8 powered) to debut for MY 2014. Again, the present situation isn't forever.
  2. I've always said it's easier to build a brand from the top down versus the bottom up... and, in Caddy's case, from the middle out. Would have preferred that Caddy's flagship car were here first and THEN the others, but what's done is done. All that needs to be hoped for by everyone here is that Cadillac produce a solid offering worth buying on its own merits instead of always looking at it with roundel-colored glasses.
  3. Currently base engine in the Lucerne, top engine in the Impala.
  4. Good pics, good review. On its own, I'd probably have no problems at all with this Jetta. But I'll always compare it to the outgoing model, and that ruins it for me.
  5. LS4 (05-09). I always wondered what the engine could do if turned north-south.
  6. I like Times New Roman. RE: the street signs, the problem with NYC signs was never that they were all-caps. It's that they're small and non-reflective (the ones I've driven/ridden/walked past, anyway).
  7. Good for GM. I did the math, and if they combine all the Escalade variants under one name (regular, ESV, EXT), its sales numbers are down by exactly 3 units last month.
  8. Evidently... but I can't remember the last time I've seen a new one.
  9. Your guess is as good as mine. I'm betting that GM very well should be able to contract out to them to make a heavy-duty transmission that fits their car platforms.
  10. Has Allison ever made a heavy-duty transmission for a non-heavy-duty vehicle?
  11. I thought MB made all its transmissions in-house as of more recent times.
  12. I wasn't there to judge. I'll ask my father about it... MD is his favorite soda.
  13. I agree with your father-in-law. Another difference between the two is that MD Throwback also took out the orange flavoring, which ends up leaving behind a considerably blander product.
  14. You want a bicycle then, Moltie. I voted 8, simply because that's the highest number of gears currently out. Pretty sure it won't just disappear overnight.
  15. Speaking of funny, I clicked the image in your signature. Google Chrome keeps it from having the desired effect. But yeah, I find pleasure in the notion that there's only one existing Corvette that has the year I was born as its model year.
  16. I'm intrigued. This is probably my favorite of all the classic 'Vettes. Well, except for the 1983. Keep us posted!
  17. Well, yeah, that too. My point was basically that the '11 is a lame-duck model, and as such, there wouldn't be as much variety.
  18. Ford's paring down the Focus trims/bodystyles for 2011 in anticipation for the new 2012 model. Most automakers do something like that.
  19. So about the new, more powerful Buick... :backtotopic: They're not revisiting the idea of putting it on Zeta, are they?
  20. LaCrosse Super with the twin-turbo V6! Hey, I'd give it a look...
  21. Yesterday, driving to my mom's hometown (in the middle of nowhere), passed a white CTS-V and a silver Panamera. On the way back, passed a Ferrari 599.
  22. Exactly my point.
  23. ATS-Vd, CTS-Vd, Escalade-Vd. Ew.
  24. So then you condemn Ford for building the X-Type, then you implicitly commend Ford for raising Jaguar's dependability.
