  1. I heard 'warsh' a lot in Eastern Ohio....I think it's a general Appalachia thing... same with 'crick' for 'creek' and 'holler' for 'hollow'....
  2. I drove over a raised 4-inch median at 30 or so in my GC. Had to have a front end alignment.
  3. Robert Hall replied to a post in a topic in Toyota
The topic title is a bit misleading..the Camry has been built in the US for years...Georgetown, Ky...they are just considering an additional plant.
  4. Yeah....though annexing Mexico is probably more likely...infinite supply of cheap labor.
  5. Maybe they can do a luxury version of the passenger version..brand it as a Chrysler Town and Country.
  6. No, no, no...what America needs is The Homer. The car for the forgotten man.
  7. G5

Robert Hall replied to pipius's topic in Heritage Marques
My guess is the Solstice will be renamed the G5.. Of course, there is already a G5 on the market...a pretty sweet one at that.. /G5
  8. I've read about that...somewhere in Alberta, I think..very costly to extract it, though...
  9. Maybe GM will offer the new Camaro with a torquey turbodiesel and sell it in Europe..that would be cool.
  10. I found out today that AMT announced at the annual Toy Fair show that they will be doing a 1:25th scale plastic model of the Camaro concept, due out in September.. that's the fastest I think I remember ever hearing about a kit announcement relative to the public debut of a production car or concept car...
  11. I liked it quite a bit also...subtle, clean styling (great front end treatment, IMHO), beautiful interior... but then I look at the A8 which looks even better to me inside and out...
  12. Looks good..strong family resembalance to the IS. Doesn't seem to have the usual awkward FWD front proportions either...
  13. Looks like all-new metal. Dodge should do an SRT5 version of theirs..
  14. Build it, and customers will buy.
  15. Yes..the appeal is all about the total package...handling, steering feel, braking.. at least that's the appeal of my old E36 M3 to me.. acceleration is ok, but I'm not into drag racing. Anyhoo, the new ES looks like it will be a nice entry-lux daily driver type of car.. not exactly my cup of tea, but quite good at what it does...if I were going for a FWD daily driver, though, my preference would be a TL with the 6-speed manual (sportier but still well-equipped).
  16. Yes, KFC got rid of the 'Kentucky Fried Chicken' name years ago....because they do more than fried chicken. I work in a world full of TLAs (three-letter-acronyms) so I use them everyday (JMS, JSP, RMI, SLA, SOA, EJB, EBF, JGC, EDI, and many four- and five-letter ones..)
  17. 'My bad'. I don't know it's origin..but it's annoying.
  18. To use another analogy, GM is kind of like the underachieving student content to limp along with Bs and Cs---being average when they are capable of better, and complaining about the other kids who are consistently getting As. GM has built waaaay too many C (and even D) grade cars..they are certainly capable of building A grade cars, but seem not to want to go the extra mile often enough to build them...
  19. I saw a black one parked on the street in a town up in the mountains Saturday.. they really stand out in dark colors...looked great. I disagree with Car & Driver's view that it looks like a '90s Camry...if it resembles any other car, it's the 2006 Passat somewhat, as far as the C-pillar and tail treatment go.
  20. Yes, there is definitely a double standard... too many people on here have drunk the GM Kool-Aid and can't rationally, objectively view other brands.
  21. The truth will set you free.... don't be hatin'...it's a lousy way to go through life. I have to laugh how people rag on Lexus for being a premium Toyota---well, isn't Cadillac a premium GM? Touche.
  22. A G6 SportCombi would be nice... It's strange that the only midsize wagon GM offers in the US is in a brand not known for midsize wagons (Saab). (I don't count the Maxx as it is more of a 5dr hatch than a wagon).
  23. Yes, it's great that GM has world-class performance cars, luxury cars, and full-size SUVs, but where they come up short is the volume market...I'm afraid FWD sedans with average interiors, pushrod V6s and 4spd automatics just aren't competitive beyond the rental car lots... it's not 1996 anymore.
  24. Add to that the Lexus has a 6-spd automatic compared to Buick's 4-spd...
  25. Since a hybrid Camry is coming, can a hybrid ES be far behind...one more advertising talking point...
