Real World Pics: 2007 Tahoe
Hmmm....a 'sports car'? A 5000+ lb one, maybe... :) Aren't sports cars small and light?

GM Unveils 2007 Escalade
I really like how GM has cleaned up the sides of the new Tahoe, Yukon, and Escalade....left off the tacked on fender flares and lower door/rocker panel glop...

Brand X packs it in.....
Yeah, the Daewoo based models would be good to see badged as Chevys here as they are in Canada....the new Grand Vitara would make a nice entry-level SUV below the Equinox for Chevy, I think...

Part II: '07 Escalade Exposed
It's too bad the interior didn't include a unique steering wheel for the Escalade..it's the same with a different badge as far as I can tell. I'm dissapointed the Escalade didn't get more unique sheetmetal (the greenhouse and doors look the same as the Tahoe and Yukon) but such are the realities of tooling costs.. :(

How do you pronounce Impala?
I've always pronounced it 'Im-PAL-uh' and heard it that way... I've heard a few people say 'Im-PAUL-uh'... Same with the Bonneville--I've always pronounced it 'Bon-UH-vil' but I've also heard 'Bonnie-Vil'... I'm from Ohio originally, so my pronunciations may be Midwestern in origin.. How about 'Escalade'? I usually hear 'ESKA-LAID' but I've heard 'ESKA-LAH-DEE' also..

Part II: '07 Escalade Exposed
Same photos on Autoweek...it looks like except for the front clip, the body is the same as the Tahoe and Yukon..

A sample of the Escalade...
Autoweek has new spy photos of the Escalade...

The Straight Story On The G6 'Vert From C&G
If it's something that is very close to production I'm guessing most likely a G4 (Pursuit). Less likely but still plausable--a Solstice coupe. Even less likely a G8 sedan badge-engineered from the Lucerne. or a face-lifted '07 GTO, maybe?

Car Spotting
The old 240s seem to wear very well. A buddy of mine drives a '90 has about 180k on it...white w/ blue interior, very clean condition. His wife drives an '04 Cross Country wagon. (DOH!!!! I posted this on the wrong thread..it was supposed to go on 68's demo derby thread).

GM, Toyota chiefs meet in Tokyo
Or Ps2 games..

GM, Toyota chiefs meet in Tokyo
IIRC, there are a number of bilingual signs in English and Japanese in the Detroit airport (I recall seeing some the last time I was there).

GM, Toyota chiefs meet in Tokyo
Who knows...maybe bouncing around ideas for more JVs like the Vibe/Matrix... how about a Buick convertible rebodied from the Solara convertible? A Chevy version of the Prius? a Camaro from the new IS platform? ;-)
-
Car Spotting
The coupes look even stranger, I think...short hood with a tall tail w/ decklid... the rear end doesn't look like it belongs on the same car as the front end. It's like the 5-dr hatchback was designed first and as an afterthought someone realized--oh no--we need a coupe and sedan for the NA crowd!!!---and they grafted on the trunks.

GM Oct sales are posted
Yes, interesting isn't it? Likewise with the Taurus being Ford's top selling car in October...
-
Lucernes already selling
Haven;'t seen any yet here in Denver...maybe at Thanksgiving when I'm back in Ohio..
-
Grand Cherokee Srt-8 Msrp Set At $39,995!
It will be interesting to see a comparison test between it and the TrailBlazer SS.. Ford needs to do an Explorer GT so it can play in this niche also..

Should Buick get a convertible?
Hmm...one way Buick could get a convertible on the cheap would be to follow the approach of the Pontiac Vibe... how about a rebodied Solara convertible for Buick?
-
The Straight Story On The G6 'Vert From C&G
I wonder if the new production Pontiac will be a US version of the G4/Pursuit.
-
Should Buick get a convertible?
A 2dr convertible based off the Lucerne (w/ different styling, maybe called Riviera) could be interesting for Buick (and a relatively low investment by using an existing platform). A largish, luxury, 4-passenger V8 convertible would make a nice Buick flagship..

1980 Oldsmobile 442 W-30 (1 of only 886 made)
Interesting..I don't think I've ever seen one of those..neat car.

Dodge says upcoming Caliber won't compete with...
The Caliber makes a lot more sense as a 5-dr hatchback than a 4dr sedan...I've always thought small cars like this are better as hatchbacks--a hatchback is more useful and practical than a small sedan with a tiny trunk..

G6 Convertible Canned?
There is a big difference between the Z06's excellent pushrod V8 and the mediocre pushrod V6 in the G6...

The Perfect Pizza
Thin crust--either crisp or soft (so I can fold a slice), with pepperoni...occasionally w/ basil and ground beef. My favorite pizza is found at a couple local Denver places---Lil' Riccis and the Bonnie Brae Tavern (serving pizza for almost 70 years!). I try and avoid the chains, though at work they bring in Papa Johns (which I usually like), Blackjack (horrible) or Pizza Hut (ok). When I was a teenager back in the day I was fond of Domino's double cheeseburger pizza. I like a CPK pizza once in a while, esp. the sicilian, white pizza, and jamacian jerk.

Autoextremist: The NASCAR Bubble
Well, NASCAR got it's start in the deep south and remains very popular with the scary white southern Republican crowd...

Autoextremist: The NASCAR Bubble
NASCAR today is Disneyfied racertainment...it has become to motorsport what the WWE is to wrestling. It's kind of a joke when they use the name of a FWD, unibody car (Taurus, Fusion, Intrepid, Monte Carlo, Grand Prix, etc) on a shapeless blob with BOF construction and carburated pushrod engines...kind a joke to call them 'stock cars'...'cartoon cars' would be a better name..
