  1. Hmmm...speaking of 'Ferrari GTAs', anyone remember the modified 3rd gen Firebirds that had Ferrari 308-like body work? I remember seeing a couple in Miami in the late '80s... they actually looked pretty decent up-close--a blending of 308 and Firebird styling cues..don't recall what they were called, though.
  2. I think it's a clean, conservative design, but change the grille, remove the badges and ventiports, and you would never know it was a Buick....the styling doesn't say Buick at all...I see some Lexus in the headlights, new VW Passat in the roofline and tail, etc...
  3. "I'd rather die quietly in my sleep like grandpa, rather than screaming like his passengers". Heard this one somewhere long ago..
  4. Speaking of movies, I watched a couple of strange-but-interesting foreign films this past weekend--the South Korean 'Oldboy' and French 'High Tension'. High Tension was pretty scary and gory, not the usual Hollywood slasher flick. Speaking of foreign movies, I always watch them in their native language with English subtitles...dubbing turns me off completely..anyone else do that?
  5. It's a '63 convertible, IIRC...gets trashed. The Cronenberg 'Crash' is a very twisted movie...I'll have to watch it again..haven't seen it since I saw it in the theatre when it came out.. (made for an unusual date movie..) I saw the new 'Crash' about a month ago..very good, IMHO... I liked the multiple intercutting storylines and the complicated characters... my favorite character was probably Terrence Howard's.. great soundtrack, I thought.

My addition to the random posting thread: http://ualuealuealeuale.ytmnd.com/ (some very funny crap).
  7. And the headlights, grille, maybe taillights? Also the front fascia. The hood and front fenders are probably the only different sheetmetal.

Exactly...a base LaX with bench seats is completely redundant with the Impala...why does Buick need to compete with Chevy (either in the Avis market or on the street)?
  9. I think the Solstice will sell well, but Mazda doesn't have to worry...the Miata has a much nicer interior and is about 400 lbs lighter... (not to mention 15 years of previous owners and the established reputation).
  10. Hmmm..those cupholders look like they would be pretty awkward to use back there..

Good to see you back, 98! Don't stay away too long --Oldsmobile is still dead and probably will remain that way, I'm afraid :)

The problem I have with the new Jeep interiors is that they look and feel cheaper than the old ones... I've checked out the '05 GCs...not as nice as the design or materials of the '99-04 models, IMHO. I expect a much nicer interior in a $30-35k vehicle than what I'm seeing from DC today... I haven't seen the Commander interior yet, but it looks similar to the GC in photos I've seen.
  13. You want annoying? Try this... I nearly crapped myself laughing so hard at it...then it gets annoying after a few minutes at high volume... http://ualuealuealeuale.ytmnd.com/
  14. I used to have a Bronco II so I still have a soft spot for them. I've been very happy with my '00 Grand Cherokee, so I'm definitely a fan of the 2nd generation (WJ) Grand Cherokees... I like the old XJ Cherokees and Wranglers also. I don't really care for the Liberty, but my sister loves hers. I like the X5 also...I've thought about trading my Jeep on one (maybe a certified pre-owned 2-3 yr old one, though). I also like the MDX. I've always liked Suburbans also because they are very functional and good at what they do. I like the interior of the Navigator (my mom loves her '05).
  15. That wouldn't make sense..the Solara is branded as the Camry Solara; the Monte Carlo is not the Impala Monte Carlo...(they are platform mates, but have separate brand identitites).
  16. Interesting..not 1 domestic car in the top 10..only trucks and SUVs... I'm amazed trucks still sell that well even with gas prices where they are...
  17. Yes, being only 5 years old, I could see them going another 5 years with a facelift and interior redesign...keep making improvements from year to year.. look what Ford is doing with the '06 Explorer--the current model dates back to '02 also, and the facelifted '06 probably will run until at least 2010..
  18. Well, GMT360s are sold in small numbers in Europe.... (TrailBlazers). I've seen them in France and Italy..
  19. Hmmm..very strange...applying '60s British styling to contemporary Japanese cars..
  20. Robert Hall replied to ocnblu's topic in Chrysler
Yeah...the design of the Passat center stack and center vents vaguely reminds of some late-model Benzes. I like black interiors and tan/black two-tones, but generally avoid gray and all-tan interiors.
  21. Handcuffs and duct tape work well also to keep the little monsters under control... :)
  22. The Lucerne is supposed to be the replacement for the LeSabre moreso (if at all) than for the Park Avenue. That would mean Buick is currently without a flagship sedan. Ven- am I on track here? [post="32217"][/post] Well, since the PA is gone, the Lucerne is the defacto flagship sedan now...(after all, the PA never was offered with a V8). The Lucerne effectively replaced the LeSabre and the PA... any other talk of a flagship to come is just specualtion at this point..
  23. I like Oasis, even if Liam is an egomaniac... my favorite of their older songs is probably 'Live Forever'. I like the new album, saw them last month at Red Rocks...gave a good show...saw them the day after I saw Green Day..interesting contrast. I also saw the Foo Fighters earlier this month..excellent show with Weezer.
  24. It's in keeping with their 'E' names for SUVs...also it's a reuse--IIRC there was an Avalanche-like show truck version of the Expedition called the Equator a few years ago..
  25. Seems plausable..though since the GMT360 platform is only 5 years old, I don't see why they don't just update it...
