  1. ^ I saw a truck recently that had the Mexican and Italian flag decals on the back window...and they looked the same except for the logo in the white part of the Mexican.
  2. ^ I think that is Ireland's flag? If the order of the colors were reversed, it would be Ivory Coast.
  3. I think a lot of the BS EV's have added on is where the 'more complex' comes in...like the doorhandles on Teslas or Mach-es, the 'self-driving', etc... an EV doesn't need that stuff to be usable. And the 'refueling' is definitely perceived as more complex and time consuming--the struggle to find a working charging station, the apps for using the charging station, the time it takes to charge, having to carefully plan trip routes around the availability of working charging stations, etc vs the ubiquity, speed and simplicity of refueling at gas stations...
  4. I wonder if the new Ranger will offer a hybrid or EV version..it's due out in the next year or so? I assume it will offer the same powertrains as the Bronco.
  5. Neat..but covers about a dozen vents..
  6. Just saw an article claiming Stellantis is planning a new generation of lighter ICE Chargers and Challengers on a new platform for 2024-5ish... can't recall where, I think it was a credible source.. Edit: it was Motor Trend..read it this morning...no timeline mentioned. Hope it happens. Can't be all CUVs and SUVs, need some largish coupes and sedans too... https://www.motortrend.com/news/next-gen-dodge-charger-challenger-hellcat-v8/
  7. Good looking truck...nice interior. The underbody camera is a neat feature.
  8. ^Re: family car factoid: '49 Ford--a dark blue '49 Ford fordor was my parents' first new car (21 years before I was born)...I have an old B&W photo of it I will scan and post eventually. They traded it on a '52 Ford 3 years later. When they got married in '48, my Dad was driving his Dad's '40 Packard. coupe.
  9. A buddy in college had a red '90 Maxima SE w/ a manual...was a sweet car. Years later, a buddy in Colorado had a gray '01 Maxima SE w/ a manual...it was his daily for 15 years until a hailstorm totaled it. He replaced it with a CPO '13 Audi A6 that has been nothing but trouble since then..
  10. I like the Bonneville profile, but that interior is over the top overwrought.
  11. I always liked the Brady Bunch house.
  12. Never seen LITB, before my time...about the only old sitcom I recall watching in reruns as a kid was the Brady Bunch, which was in color and closer in time to me.. my older brother was named Wally. He probably watched LITB as a kid in the 50s-60s.
  13. My Jeep has push button start and an accessory mode. I occasionally use accessory so my phone w/ charge, but usually if I'm parked for a while and in it (esp. this time of year) I leave the engine running so the A/C runs.. Yeah, I was using them w/ my brother's vehicles, and then put them in my '69 and '87 Mustangs so they can be started and moved around at their current storage. Once they are restored/ready to register, I'll get better batteries. The shop I'm working with put new batteries of some sort in my brother's cars and motorcycles before the auction (except for the paperweights).
  14. I bought a couple Wal-Mart EverStart batteries for about $85 each for the old cars..seem to function fine. I recently discovered my Jeep still has the OEM circa 2014 battery...had it checked at the dealer last month when I went in for an oil change, it doesn't need replaced yet...can't believe a battery would last that long (it only spent about 4 months in AZ in 2017). Still starts every time..
  15. Chrysler Corp had quite a few concept cars built by Ghia and other Italian houses in the early-mid 50s. Seen a few at auctions and concours shows.
  16. Agreed with the Monte Carlo, but I think the Malibu was a cleaner design and looked better than the goofy slant back 2dr and 4dr Century and Cutlass that Buick and Olds respectively fielded for the their downsized '78 A-bodies, IMO.. Regarding this particular MC, that tan w/ beige interior seems like it was ubiquitous across GM in 1978...I've seen so many GM models of that year in that color over the years...
  17. ^ Another Andrea Doria detail--the 1956 Chrysler Norseman concept car (built by Italy's Ghia) was in the hold of the ship. Was heading from Italy to the US to appear at car shows. Apparently was a fully running show car, that cost approx $150k to build in 1956.. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrysler_Norseman
  18. ^ My sister was a frequent flyer for business for 20+ years, and after the 'Miracle on the Hudson' she recognized Captain Sullenberger, had flown on several of his flights previously...she's done with business travel, and soon likely done w/ corporate life after 40+ years in the game, with the last 20 mostly in management consulting.
  19. The rear quarter is my favorite part, esp. in profile. I like the long hatchback shape, instead of a predictable 3 box sedan profile. Huge blind spots, though..kind of wonder if it needed windows in the back hatch side triangles...looks like the upper taillights are part of the hatch (the seam that goes down the side)...I like the red interior, instead of the usual despair gray or black that GM does so much of..
  20. Yeah, it's still going on and on...forever COVID, it seems...booster shots will be an annual thing like flu shots probably. I'm still cautious around crowds and indoor events.. life goes on... I still do a lot of take out/delivery of food, but occasionally go to a restaurant, esp. if they have outdoor seating...and have been to 1/2 dozen concerts so far this summer..trying to have some normalcy, cautiously.
  21. Context--keep in mind when that article was written...in Dec 2020 vaccines weren't readily available.
  22. ^ interesting…it will have a wheelbase longer than the Traverse.
  23. I wonder if the ICE Blazer will continue as is or if this replaces it completely..
  24. Think how close together gas stations are now...charging stations should be just as close together or on the same sites. Do any gas station chains have charging stations? Or not because big oil is so antagonistic towards EVs?
  25. Then maybe it is. I don't know how the dirty bits are configured on something like this.
