You're acting as if GM wasn't headed towards these decisions before last fall. Of GM hadn't taken government money, Wagoner would have been canned and Pontiac would have been axed. With government money, they might at least keep consumers confident in the company.

Nah, Wagoner's canning was the government's fault according to a few posters who apparently think GM has been doing well the last few years.

Car Buying Question... PLEASE HELP!
In my experience, Edmunds has been closer to reality than NADA which has been closer to reality than KBB.

Blaming this on the government is flat out dumb. GM has been mismanaging its eleventy-billion brands for decades, they were going to have to do something sooner or later.

Interesting car collection
Wow, I'll take the '53 Corvette with a side order of Delorean. Porsche peoples, at 5:38, is that a 959? It doesn't look like a standard 911 Turbo to me.

CNN Money Drives Volt Mule
Everyone loves the $7,500 tax credit, but the problem is that it doesn't come off the price, so the full amount will have to be financed. $40k isn't cheap, the monthly payments on a $40k car aren't cheap, so the tax credit doesn't bring the price down at all. It will, technically, lower the cost of ownership, but not the purchase price, which could be trouble for GM. The Volt is going to be an amazing car, but it'll be tough to sell it to people cross-shopping other hybrids that cost $10k less.

Never driven one, have you? Mini or golf cart

Price. Nobody is willing to shell out $40,000 for something that looks just like a $15,000 compact.

Why does racism still exist?
I dunno, people are pretty dumb, especially people around here.
-
OH MY GOD
I bet the correlation would be tough to prove, but it has to exist to a point. When you take people out of the factory and throw them into a McDonald's they're going to eat McDonald's. And McDonald's is neither healthy nor slimming.

Suspicious landlord...
I would've said, "My wife died" because that would have likely shut the jerk up.

Pontiac's fate to be decided in 2010
YAY! Someone finally gets it! Volume doesn't equal profit. If they feel they "need" to unload 100,000 Camaros, they're going to feel they "need" to put a pile of cash on the hood and it'll dilute the car.

First 100F degree day today
I'd hate living in the desert. We're forecasted to be in the mid-70's for the next week or so. I can live with that.

I thought it was a Polo at first because you cant see the badge. You know how you guys always bitch about people buying Toyotas without looking at anything else? Same thing. Just sayin.....

Idea's... for my next car and its a poll... UPDATE 2
There are many fine non-GM automobiles out there. You've just got to open your mind up. And I did suggest a GM, the Corvette, maybe a little pricier than anything else, but so much appeal on so many levels.
