  1. I know the feeling reg. Right now mine is sitting in front of the house waiting on the insurance company to cut the check to the body shop
  2. Well, its true!
  3. DieHard builds a pretty good battery, so does CarQuest, AutoZone and Advance Auto, most NAPA batteries are pretty fair too. I'd shy away from Interstate batteries simply because they seem to be pretty shoddily constructed. Any of those would be a good recommendation for you.
  4. That's more than likely what it is. I've seen the part go bad quite often. The only other thing would be electrical, but normally its in the vacuum switch.
  5. Looks like rain here in Alabama, maybe even some rumbles of thunder mixed in tomorrow.
  6. I've seen several on the road down here. They are absolutely stunning in my opinion. My wife, whom isn't a car nut at all, even did a double take when she saw her first one.
  7. Oy....in 31 years of service, my truck has only needed the U-joints replaced once. We're talking about a new truck with relatively low miles already needing U-joints replaced. You've got to be kidding me?!
  8. Yeah, its 100% fixable, I just don't like having got into the wreck in the first place
  9. I say that we all meet in Bowling Green, Ky at either the Corvette museum, or the plant.
  10. I know if I were an insurace adjuster, I'd damn sure be on the phone to someone about this kind of marketing.
  11. That happens sometimes.
  12. I normally do the montly cruise in night at a restaurant in Montgomery.
  13. LOL, now THAT is funny. Kinda would make you look up and say "God? Is that you?"
  14. That is possibly true, although that still leaves me with having to get rid of my used oil. But I do understand the idea of radiant heat in the floor, I've seen some places with it and I know that it will definitely keep the place warm
  15. I'd be able to swing it, I was actually thinking of doing waste oil heat, since I would otherwise have to have some way to get rid of my used oil.
  16. Yeah, I hope that they catch 'em too, I'm about ready to stomp a mud hole into them for their trouble.
  17. That would be correct sir.
  18. Well guys, I've thought about it. And quite frankly I'm tired of changing the oil in the driveway and doing brake jobs and such on the back parking pad. I'm building a shop! I'm thinking 40ftx40ft devided down the middle to give me two 20ftx40ft bays. In one bay, I'm going to put a 12,000-lb two post lift, in bay two flat floor. Air and electrical outlets in both bays, full plumbing and heating and air. I'm going to put work benches along the exterior and joining walls in both bays. In bay 2, I'm going to also put welding equipment (probably a MiG/TiG and a stick welder) along with my oxy-acetelene torches and bottles. Both bays will have overhead heavy winches to lift engines and the like out from vehicles. Bay two will also have full set up to paint in it. I'm thinking of building a more or less general purpose shop. Something that I can easily do all my regular mantenance in, along with all my special projects and side work you know? If you have any other ideas for me, by all means I wanna hear them.
  19. Hey Cort, sorry about not being able to get up with you. I just got recently promoted at my job and its been pretty hectic catching onto the learning curve.
  20. Guys, I would contribute to keep my us all somewhere as long as it was a reliable and steadfast server.
  21. I have to admit, that would be pretty cool, but I'm like you guys, what if you can't get the door open after an accident.

Well boys and girls, I always hoped and prayed it wouldn't get me, but dammit, it got me. Two nights ago I was coming home from getting gas. I had the green light at an intersection and out of nowhere comes a 2000 or newer Chevy, or possibly GMC Suburban/Yukon/Tahoe (couldn't really tell, I was too busy trying to avoid playing bumper cars) across my front end, well I slam on the binders and start aiming for the rear of the truck hoping that I would be able to clear it and just swerve. No such luck, crunch, crash, sounds of collision ensue. Anyway to make the story even worse, after we hit, the other person just slows down for a second, then continues to drive on. Police are called, accident reports are filled out. Now I've got to take it to the body shop and get an estimate then go buy my insurance company and let them scour over it. But here are a few pictures of the damage. To me looks like I'm going to need a new passenger's side fender, a new bumper cover, new passenger's side headlight bucket, all required bracketry that holds the headlight in place, and a hood and a grille, but I'll let you guys look and see if there's anything I missed.
  23. next time it does it, beat it with a hammer and call it dirty names, always works for my truck...
  24. you're right siegen. first number is width, second is aspect ratio, or the percentage of sidewall height to width, third number (typically has an R in front of it) is the actual center hole size in inches.
  25. Truthfully, and not saying this as a parts guy who is here to sell a part, or throw out a company's name. 5 years is typical for most batteries. I will admit that GM and Ford tend to put the best batteries in their vehicles from the factory, because most of the batteries we sell at work are for imports and DCX products. I would go ahead and replace it if it were me. Five years is plenty long for a battery and like you said, and like balth said, they aren't going to give you a warning, they're just going to konk out on you.
