Gotcha...yeah, I wasn't quite sure on the m engines...could've sworn the new v10 was valvetronic (which would make the v8 valvetronic) but I guess not. I suppose they still utilize double vanos? The S54 was basically an evolution of the euro S50 which explains the iron block...those S-I6's are pretty heavy engines...one of the many reasons why LS engines are a popular swap in e36's...

I believe all new BMW engines utilize Valvetronic technologoy (infinitely variable valve lift similar to what you speak of at the beginning of your second paragraph). They don't even have throttle bodies (and I believe this goes the same for the new ///M engines...no more ITB's).

Funny you mention that...That was possibly the rudest awakening I have ever had...but not because of the earthquake...I was sleeping right through it (as was my sister...a freaking armoire even fell across her legs and it didn't even stir her...she was ok from that btw)...the thing that made it horrible was my mom running into my room screaming. Possibly the scariest awakening I have ever had.

To add to the original topic...Bro's and their f@#kin trucks...unfortunately it seems the worst culprits drive Silverados...Douchebags weaving in and out of traffic at high speeds whipping their trucks around like they're in some race car, passing on the shoulder, cutting people off in near misses, cutting across the entire freeway in one fell swoop...it's bull$h!, and I nearly saw an accident occur last night because of it...not the first time I have witnessed this happened.

If I had to guess, I bet there is a silencer/air circulation box somewhere along the intake or air/filter box, and it can be removed by capping the opening, offering up a negligible increase in SOTP power, and a slight change in sound.

Which is still somewhat surprising to me (but I guess it shouldn't be just due to the exposure Chevy has over GMC), because I find the Sierra to be a much more attractive vehicle than the new Silverado (in my opinion anyway...front end is still growing on me on the Silverado.)

We used to have a 97 Suburban LT 1500. That was such an awesome truck. I really loved it, and while I welcomed the change to my mom's decision to get an X5 4.4, after driving it I really miss the suburban, and I think I'd rather drive the suburban over the X5 (which is a bad comparison because the X5 is worthless as a truck/anything hauler...the weekend after we got the X5 we had to rent a Suburban to go on a weekend trip because we needed something that would haul 5 people, a dog, and a bunch of $h! comfortably and easily...the X5 can't do any of that.)

Even though it has been beaten to death ( ...just had to use it)...the thing that bugs me most about the layout is that the damn door trim doesn't even line up correctly. I still don't understand how they could allow such a blatant error in measurement to get through.

The lack of the bow tie raises perceived value significantly. I kinda like the stripes. Would be cool if they were red to mimic the "grand sport" look.
