Pontiac: Nothing but rwd cars?
The awd request does have some merit. BMW sells some 30% of 3-series sedans and wagons with awd (peaking in winter-spring), and a similar proportion of 5-series, even though the latter is limited to the 530xi. Those are numbers not to be sneezed at. You can bet DCX new exactly how many Mercedes buyers opt for awd and where, before deciding to offer awd on the LX cars.

Thank the media/insiders for this...
Since wehn does a Corolla get rave reviews, except for reliability. It's like driving a Maytag.

Pontiac: Nothing but rwd cars?
You're missing the point Reg. The question is, with Chevrolet, Saturn and Buick covering all the bases for lower and midscale buyers, what is Pontiac's continued relevance, its reason for existence? The answer which many of us have been promoting, and which AN says GM is seriously considering, is to do something no-one else at this market level can do anymore or has done for more than 20 years—offer a full range of rwd alternatives to the fwd vehicles sold by everyone else. Exactly what that lineup will be and how soon they arrive is pure speculation however. For the near future there may be no changes to what we were expecting them to do anyway.

S/C on the Ecotec interchangeable?
The 2.0 is a dedicated forced-induction block, originally designed for turbocharging. There are a number of differences so it's certainly possible the induction systems may not be transferable.

Suzuki Announces New SX4 Designed for U.S. Market
You are horribly mistaken, the SX4 is the replacement for the larger (than Swift) Aerio SX, available in an awd version on stilts, but with a lower fwd version as well.

did you deliberatly leave out the ;? Just type it in (e.g. ♣) and the forum software will convert it when you preview or submit your post. the & tells the "agent" you are starting a character reference, the # tells it you are using a numerical reference, the the ; tells it you are closing the character reference and going back to normal text. In a blog you can usually use the standard html reference (♣) and there are also hexadecimal references using the unicode/ISO number (in html ♠). In my first post and to stop the first reference from just displaying ♣ I had to "double code" the references, using & instead of just & so you could see what the code is. You can use Windows' character map, but it's only a partial list (try finding ⚢). You can also check the unicode listings at http://www.alanwood.net/unicode/index.html#links (only displays those your selected font supports) or the full unicode pdf files at http://www.unicode.org/charts/ These include other a wide range of other writing scripts including Gothic, runic, ogham, Linear B and Cherokee, but not new additions such as Phoenician or cunieform.

If you use nnn; you can use either set of numbers. It's just a shame BBCode doesn't accept the standard HMTL character entities such as ™ or ″.

4VPC SB Northstar Replacement?
Numerous engines have in the past been modified from an OHV design to one with DOHC and 4V per cylinder, as recently as this century in some cases. If I was to commision a new DOHC V8 however, I would not base it on the OHV small block, but on the L850 series Family II Ecotec (or even the latest Family I 4-cylinders).

God-forbid GM try anything else new and different, like direct injection or E85, lest some lawyer blame it for every problem under the sun.

Ruling is near on GM engine coolant
From now on your service interval will be one month or 1000 miles. It will still cost $200, you just have to do it 12 times as often, and they won't actually replace anything.

Has anyone made a flat 4 before?
The new 3.6 L RV6 is supposed just over 10 degrees. From memory Rover was at one stage wrking on a narrow-angle V6, but the KV6 seems wider, if a little lop-sided or a V6.

Has anyone made a flat 4 before?
Depending on the angle of the V and the crank design a boxer engine can be shorter than a V-engine with the same number of cylinders. Not much shorter, not more than half a bore-spacing. Height, width, balance and commonality with another engine are the primary reasons for choosing a particular block angle, sometimes even for an I4. Hence the popularity of 90 degree V6s and V10s based on 90 degree V8s, instead of the more natural 60 and 72 degrees.

Some BMW bikes are horizontally opposed. The R-series have boxer engines, but not the K-series.

That's because the 9-3's six-speed is supplied by Aisin AW, as is the 6-speed auto in the Ford Five Hundred.
