Why do you buy a car?
Razor: "If theres a trunk 4-5 seating capacity and dont cost over $50,000 new they are at least somewhat practical." I can see your point.

When real crime needs fighten
I honestly do not think there will ever be two consecutive decades of design/style/progress like the 50s and 60s. Amazing and magical things happened. And I'm not just talking about the cars, thought they are the watermark by which the ear is judged.

Car Spotting
1966/1967 Oldsmobile Toronado. The one with a HUGE displacement V8 and FWD. It's been chopped by several inches and has a custom Billet Aluminum Grille. :)

Automotive "trends"
I'm a fan of manual trannys in everything. I'd love to throw a M22 Muncie inot my newly aquired '79 Coupe DeVille. I love sticks and the only reason I keep buying Autos is because so many good deals can be had in classic GM cars wiht automatics. If I COULD have bought a '97 STS, '86 Fleetwood Brougham, '83 Firebird (wiht a 350 crate) or '79 Deville wiht a manual I would have but as it happened all these cars were good deals so I went wiht practicality. I would have never bought the Datsun if it had been an auto. Same as if I ever buy a Porsche 911, 4th gen. F-body, BMW of any kind or a Corvette of any vintage it MUST be a true manual. (three pedals) I managed to find a loaded up Blazer S10 with everything I wanted AND a manual trans. One of the reasons why I never bought any of the C/K Blazers I wantd was cause I coudl not find a 4/5 speed manual. I do agree about the four door bias. I'd love a '62 Caddy hardtop-4-dr, any BMW M5, a '59 Buick flat top 4dr or even a 2nd gen four door Corvair. Pretty much any hardtop vehicle is allowed to have four doors wihtout loosing any "cool" points.

Nov. MT says Solstice to get V8
The 4.0 liter No* is no smaller than the standard issue 4.6L. The difference is all in bore/stroke.

Come out, come out, wherever you are!
uhh... Tucker? Ford/Lola GT40?

Random Thread Part II
How about this Razor? One of the coolest things about the Fiero is the short wheelbase and minimal overhangs. The car fits likea glove. Wiht the large, gray prototype it seems to be WAY too long and it comes off awkward and seems like it would impeed maneuverability. This was one of the dislikes a lot of people pointed out with the 4th gen. F-bodys BTW. Anyway here's a few examples of a gorgeous Fieros wiht PERFECT proportions. AS you can tell I like them either dead stock or wiht subtle body/ground effects kits. :)

Modern Culture
You have a point Razor, but this was not (I'm sure) the first time she ever bought a cup of coffee from MCDonalds. She should have taken her busiess elsewhere IMHO. $200,000 would have been sufficient not SEVERAL MILLION.

Kia
Yup, they have some really ugly ones but there's a few gems too. Those crazy

Evo Concept X
true, still it is a big improvement over most of their current models. (wiht the exception of the EV8 and to a lessre degree the new Ecipse)

G6 side mirrors?
Yes, it WOULD definately sway my decision. The G/A GT is a gorgeous car but wiht those ugly mirrors it would just ruin it for me every tme I looked at the car. Being somewhat mechanically inclined I'd probably just eBay the ugly ones ad buy the nice ones. Iff that was not an option I just might not buy a G/A cause of it.

Which name do you prefer?
I don;'t feel like arguing and looking it up at this moment. IN the late 90s when the new N-body came out the Grand Am was said to comprise 60% of Pontiac sales. It was either MOtor trend or R&T. I get like 15 car magazines so it's hard to keep them straight. Either way I know for a FACT it was over half. It also struck me as bizzare. And why is the G6 not selling well to fleets then?

New Austin Healey?
Either way it's not a well done Retro car.

'81 Vette
As far as I know all the classic rims will fit. Rally Sport etc... I'm sure there's a few manufacturers that have nice rims for a late C3. http://www.tirerack.com/upgrade_garage/Whe...81&autoModClar=

A few notes to cellular customers
To be honest I never got it resolved. If they had settled at like $600 or maybe even $700 I would have just payed it and spared my credit report but their resolution was to settle at like $900 plus some other bull$#it, late fees IIRC. I don;tmention this story often cause I do not want to waste my energy, I have a few friends who have Cingular and a couple of them LOVE them. One friend with a Cingular plan lways complains about terrible reception but I can't speak for that as mine was always decent. Average if not better, anyway. Stace: Thanks, I don't entirely blame them it's hard to beleive. Even a few months after it happened I used to show people my bill and thier jaw would drop. I've heard a lot of stuff about how things have goten beter wiht them since they hooked up with AT&T but unless they whipped the slate clean I'd never join up wiht them. The damage it has done to my credit will never be compensated even if they drop the entire bill. And to this day they still send me "we want you back" offers. Bizzare.

Caught in the Crossfire: Chrysler mulls....
I've never been a big fan of the Crossfire. Don;t like the styling and the mechanicals do nothing for me. If I wanted a SLK I'd BUY an SLK.

Hyundai Accent SR Concept
Are you kidding? They were in Washington DC days before talking about peace in the Pacific. Pearl Harbor WAS terrorism. WE were NOT engaged in WWII as of Dec. 7th 1941. If someone tells you otherwise they've probably watched the Ben Affleck movie a few times too many which was IMHOa bit too sypathetic to the Japanese.

Alfa's Return To US Happens In '07
Their sales will not be anything to brag about but I'd rather see an Alfa Romeo on the road than any Toyota/Scion/Honda/Acura... And their cars do have very unique and sleek styling.

New Corsa
I agree, back in 2001 when I had a rental 2001 Opel Astra 5-door 1.6 I could not believe how much car it was. Great quality, fit and finish worlds better than any Saturn, Chevy or Pontiac and the 5-speed manual made the 1.6 liters seem much more substantial than the 2.2 liter 8-valve lump of lead we still had in the Chevy/Pontiac j-cars. Opel makes a car equal to or greater than Acura.

Why do you buy a car?
Thanks buddy. To a guy like me wiht Gasoline in his veins that's a real compliment. I forgot to mention the time I almost bought a 1963 Impala for a daily driver... it was a 2-door hardtop and had a tired old 283. The car needed some major electrical work but I was ready to sell my '87 Cougar XR7 (85K miles) so I could afford it. I loved that car. Would have bought it for my daily driver too if someone had not beaten me to it. That car also had manual drum brakes all around. Except it weighed about another 1500 lbs. more than the Camaro. Scary. The X-frame was what really would have given me headaches since it had some substantial rust on it.

Subaru Blitzen & Edge
damn that's funny. Since it's bright red should it be called the Rudolph!?
