Car interiors for decades have either been cheap, forgettable or lame. Only in the last 10-15 years have interiors actually improved to the point where you actually see a car as more than just a transport device. By today's standards, no car built prior to 2002 is even worthy of praise for its interior. Virtually all car interiors were cheap and often forgettable for a very long time. We should enjoy what cars are offering us NOW because a lot of us remember what car interiors have been: cheap, forgettable, lame or a combination of the three, regardless of automaker.

What I find SAD is that GM essentially pushed a lot of their traditional customers (those who bought RWD B-bodies and RWD G-bodies) out in favor of those who wanted FWD (J-bodies, N-bodies, FWD A-bodies, the U-body minivans) and it still did not save GM from losing a lot of market share from Toyota and Honda. If GM had made a modern RWD sedan for Buick and Olds and Pontiac in 1990 (and hopefully sooner than what we received in the new GTO/G8/Chevy SS), maybe GM could have saved itself from now about 20% market share (and perhaps bankruptcy). Now it is all CUVs and more CUVs. I suspect that I may replace the Lucerne with that new Envision they have out now, given that no one buys sedans anymore. The fact that many car magazines were a little too enthusiastic for European sports sedans and Japanese ones too (for years!) is a sad development. Then again, does anyone read those anymore without looking at other sources?

A lot of our problems can be safely boiled down to a LOT of poor management and a lack of leadership, and not just in business.

I have no anger about this issue at all. I just wanted to know if selling these high-performance vehicles are bringing in more customers who end up buying a CUV instead of a Camaro or a Mustang. Thanks.

Does the cray cray factor convince customers to go into a GM showroom and buy a crossover instead of the competition? If not, then the halo car effect may have been diminished beyond detection.

Wow. Ford cannot build profitable cars in India. Yet it might move an entire back office to India instead. A Sad Day for Dearborn.

Mercedes needs a new naming scheme for their EVs. And a design language that is not so pitiful/ugly.

Imagine an upgraded Amtrak (or any train-type public transportation) doing just that in the United States.

Genesis News: FUTURING Genesis for Sustainability
I hope that they ditch the yellow; it is truly disgusting. The more important question is whether Genesis can actually make more sales (than currently) going full EV in only a decade.

Am I the only one who wonders why the Acura MDX is the best seller in this segment, followed by the Mercedes Benz GLE of all things? Is everyone a badge snob ignoring Lincoln and Cadillac, or what?

Seems like everybody liked the Ford 5.0 v8. That engine lasted in Mustangs for a really long time, at least until the late '90s.

Sophomore slump, huh? Good to know. Thanks.

I have a question: what EV should Tesla worry about the most? The expensive ones from Mercedes or BMW? Or a truly affordable EV for under $25K?

Ah yes, the Alfred Sloan model from about 1920. That worked great until homologation came in the 1970s. Maybe GM should go back to that. Maybe. . . .

So Tesla wants to be a power retailer in Texas. Given what happened this past February, Texas could use all the help they can get. As for the roadster, who buys roadsters anymore? Tesla could use either a two-row CUV or a three-row CUV to complement the Tesla X.

The last generation Trans Am cars looked so cartoonish, it was hard to take them seriously. And that was only 2003. And that was with few if any real differences between those and the Camaro.

What features and/or amenities separate a GMC Yukon Denali from a Cadillac Escalade as of right now? Essentially, what is the justification of the Escalade over a Yukon Denali?

Luxury MB only happened because Mercedes CARS were really expensive in the USA starting with their arrival back in the 1960s. They were never cheap here. Whereas in Germany, MB in many ways is more Chevrolet than Cadillac. At least VW has Audi (and a bunch of other brands) for luxury and BMW NEVER sold cheap common cars either in the USA or Europe. Reputation does sell cars. The fact that Hyundai/KIA had to create Genesis since the former two are common car marques points to the fact that the trend of MB going cheaper and cheaper is more of a disaster than Daimler realizes. Tesla is following a more successful BMW model of staying exclusive, rather than Mercedes pursuing almost every market segment. Now if only they can keep their cars from malfunctioning and catching fire. . . . Daimler did loot Chrysler----of virtually all their money. That is why Chrysler was sold to Cerberus and then FIAT. So what if Mercedes failed to build a REAL BOF TRUCK for the civilian market? They could build a real truck in Europe and/or here but they did not build a good truck that can sell. (Nissan was a mistake.) This is completely their fault and their missed opportunity.

GM has plenty of SUVs and CUVs. No need to convert a Corvette into a CUV. Now, if you want a Cadillac CUV that will crush what Tesla is offering, GM should do that instead of using the Corvette name to sell a CUV.

Then why do automakers mate a CVT with NA and turbocharged 4cyl engines so often?
