2020 Cadillac CT5 Sport showroom impression and pictures
I agree, but maybe dfelt wants Cadillac to be the best America has to offer, not just simply copy what German luxury has done. Cadillac has come a long way from 2003, let alone the 70s and 80s. Since Cadillac is selling in China as well as North America, Cadillac has to be competitive against the Germans, who currently dominate the luxury car market. It has been said that without the USA the last 40 years and China the last 20, VW/Audi, BMW and MB would all be staring down the barrel (in one sense or another) of liquidation. Literally a case of EXPAND OR DIE. There are a lot of people who believe that what American brands we still have should exclusively serve the customers of the good old USA. In 1970 that was normal. In 2020 (covid-19 aside) that is simply no longer possible.

Me neither. Keep the Blackwing V8 and dump the diesel. Diesel engines rarely sell here in the USA anyway.

Alternative Fuels & Propulsion RANDOM
It is very poor timing. Then again, it should buy some time for better technologies and especially better batteries to come into the marketplace. I personally did not expect BEVs to be anywhere close to mainstream until at least 2030 (and by mainstream, I do mean at least five percent of new cars sold). Sorry Tesla, expensive and rare is simply NOT good enough.

The only question is why GMC pickups are not selling as well as Chevy trucks. SUVs too.

Quick Drive: 2020 Toyota Camry XLE V6
I am amazed that the Camry still has a V6 option. Just about everyone else went 4cyl exclusive a few years back, and that was before Ford and GM largely abandoned this segment (Chrysler too). Then again, Avalons and Highlanders would make a better home for the V6 anyway. Same with the Lexus vehicles. Because Accords are not selling like they were six years ago, Camrys probably are not selling that well either.

Alternative Fuels & Propulsion RANDOM
Yup. Hybrids and small cars looked great when gas was $4+ a gallon back in 2008-09. Same thing here in reverse, only it feels like 2002, if not 1998.

Now That is SAD. But expected behavior given the current administration.

3-row SUVs Comparison
Well, Ford and Chevy could just cut prices by a few grand and push an MCE into market ASAP.

You call that a repair? More like a total (too costly to repair) if the insurance company does a proper inspection of the vehicle.

Maybe these should replace our current taxi fleet.

Alternative Fuels & Propulsion RANDOM
I never got the appeal of Uber and Lyft at all. What, taxis are too expensive? Ride sharing is overrated and overhyped. If that dies, good riddance. That would be one of the few things that Covid-19 has forced a very necessary end.

Industry News: Ford Executive Wants A Sequel To "Cash for Clunkers"
Mistakes are always made, especially when the recipient does not know a thing about the car in question. C4C was probably not a good idea, especially given that the financial system was the source and cause of the last recession. Shuttering bad banks would have corrected more issues with less harm to the larger economy.

Chevrolet News:Chevy Malibu to die after 2024
Oldsmobile replaced the 88 and 98 with the Aurora in 1995 and replaced the Cutlass Supreme with the Intrigue in 1998. New names did not end the sales slide with Olds until it was terminated in 2004. Yes, GM (Cadillac aside) has largely abandoned sedans for SUVs and CUVs because sedan sales have tanked for the last 5-7 years. Yes, Boomers do NOT want to stoop down to a sedan because of bad hips and bad knees. A whole lot of younger buyers followed for their own reasons. Amazingly, minivan sales have not completely tanked despite Ford and GM leaving that market about ten years ago. Yes, the Impala has already died and the Malibu will soon join it. As long as there is a Trax, an Equinox, and a Traverse, Chevrolet will be fine. Same with the BOF trucks and SUVs. One day (probably in at least a decade or two), sedans may return to some popularity. Then again, the CUV seems to have displaced if not completely replaced the family sedan, possibly for good.

I wonder if sales stayed that bad in China for March 2020.
