I honestly just kind of love where Hyundai/Kia/Genesis are going right now. They've been on quite the hot streak the last few years, in my opinion. The new Colorado/Canyon look great. What about the new Ranger with the 2.7 v6?
  2. They did actually say they were acquiring land for these chargers. "One big reason Mercedes is willing to spend billions to acquire land and install thousands of charging stations is to improve, eventually, a Mercedes driver's EV experience, according to Markus Schaefer, Mercedes-Benz chief technology officer, who spoke to the media during CES this week. ...That means finding safe, clean, and convenient places for the stations and a technological back end that provides benefits to Mercedes drivers. " This also isn't just got Mercedes but for every automaker but they did state that they would prioritize Mercedes customers. https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a42408047/mercedes-high-speed-charging-network-evs/
  3. And replaced with the Equinox EV supposedly starting at 30k. There's still next to no chance there is a 25k Tesla. Have you not watched what they've done with pricing of everything they've ever sold? Their Model 3 that they said EVERYWHERE was only 35k, was only sold for 5 months before they got rid of that model. Yeah, they may make a few but it'll be in model year 2 and only for a couple months just to say they did it. Don't you understand that? Not anybody will be able to get a 25k Tesla, the same way I can't go buy a 35k Model 3. The cheapest Model 3 is 40k, before federal tax credit.
  4. Tesla is, at a bare minimum, 2-3 years off for this. They haven't shown anything or made an official announcement and we all know how long it takes them to get anything from announcement to customers' hands. I think it's also safe to say that 25k will never happen. If they hit 30k on the nose, that would be a big win but I don't think they will ever sell a 25k car. If they do, it'll be for a couple months, just like the 35k Model 3. They did it to say they could and then immediately axed the trim/model. If I remember correctly, the 35k Model 3 only sold for 5 months. But, GM does have an EV in that price range already. I don't like it, but the Bolt and Bolt EUV are under 30k and are on sale now.
  5. The thing is, they VERY rarely have those issues necessitating a fix. You may be able to diagnose and fix issues on your Samsung but that's because there was an issue necessitating a fix.
  6. The one I had for 6 years, I replaced the battery for $100 and it was like new again. I would definitely recommend doing that when your battery finally craps out. It's much more financially justifiable to spend $100 on a battery versus ~$1000 on a phone. I'm on year 2 of a 13 Pro and it's telling me it has 87% battery capacity. Not bad, not great. If I keep it for hour years, I may replace the battery next year if it gets bad.
  7. 100% and why, at this point, I have zero reason to ever consider a non-Apple phone. My iPhones have all lasted between 4-6 years.
  8. SO if GM was selling EVs to mostly tech people, would you still call all of them lemmings who just want the ease an EV provides? NOBODY wants maintenance on an auto. This isn't specific to tech people. I do find it funny that we complain about how expensive EVs are compared to their ICE counterparts and yet when a company does something to make them more affordable, they're then criticized for it.
  9. I pretty much hate everything Nissan but why do you think they'll go away or be bought out?

almost the entire top 12 or so items all make sense, to me. It's no different than any new form of engine that scare people. They just don't know yet and frankly, EV's are incredibly expensive and saving on oil and brakes will not overcome the 10-20k price increase over a similarly prices ICE. Just because they're a concern, doesn't mean they will never learn and/or adopt.
  11. If it's a regional issue, why does your region have an issue? You said it was the South and Midwest that have issues but you're saying your own west coast is having issues as well. I'm confused. Does the whole US have issues or just the Midwest and South, like you said before? Oh I absolutely know Tesla is not perfect. They're far from perfect. But their charging infrastructure is so much better than anything built with CCS chargers that Ford and GM have made the switch to their infrastructure. This ought to get them to make a reliable infrastructure after getting sh!t on by the three largest EV companies in the US.

Yeah, I just hope the truck fails. It already seems like it's on its way to fail.

I do hope the Cybertruck utterly flops. It isn't because I don't like Tesla, I have no issues with them. I just hate what this "truck" is.

Classic Chinese vehicle. It's almost identical to a Model Y. Look at the dimension comparison in the article.
  15. ccap41 replied to TaurusSHO's post in a topic in The Lounge
Your first link specifically said it can be had in any trim.

GM went very Dodge with a package of almost nothing but slightly different looks. It's a good looking car but doesn't seem worthy of its own package or whatnot. It's also available on every trim. You can get a Panther 2.0T and 3.6...just seems to make it less special.

Yeah, that's nice and all but it's still just so damn small. My brain still just cannot comprehend the entire market prices as a whole the last few years. I mean the average transaction price is up to 48k?!? I can't afford a 50k vehicle and my wife and I aren't poor. I just need to make more money like most people must be doing these days.

I don't think that Renegade-sized EV for 36k will compete with the Equinox EV...like at all. The Equinox will wipe the floor with the EX30.

Probably the same thing GM is doing with the Hummer EV, they give rentals for those?

It's annoying and a dick move but at least there were still empty chargers available.
  21. I don't think it has anything to do with brand name bragging. I think it's that a lot of companies have moved to cars that "handle better" and think that also requires firm seats to hold you in place. This is one reason I like Lincoln. They're not lying to anybody saying they're going for legitimate comfort over sportiness.

The Tundra is rated slightly higher. He was comparing the non=hybrid tundra to the hybrid Ram, which the Tundra still edges the Ram by 1mpg highway, both 19mpg combined. And their hybrids:
  23. Just out of curiosity, how do you know this? Are you getting it based on the payload/towing ratings plus the assumption that it has to weigh between X - X thousand pounds due to size/battery/motors? Or have they released an estimated weight already that I just haven't seen?
  24. And it's insane that vehicles are, by far, more expensive than they've ever been, to just be disposable appliances.
