Cadillac News: Cadillac Faces A Conundrum With the Escalade
It is slower for sure, but the GL450 stops quicker, handles better, gets better gas mileage, has higher top speed, and the Escalade tows more. I meant overall the numbers are similar. The two vehicles are in the same ball park in terms of size, price, overall performance and sales. The GLS550 with the 455 hp and 516 lb-ft and 9 speed transmission is there, I think that is a better comparison to go V8 to V8. But if I do that, it is unfair because the Mercedes costs more. But that isn't my problem that Cadillac can't get Mercedes prices. The diesel GL is getting a slight power bump to 255 hp, 455, lb-ft, that should help. Again (since you continue to dodge it), the GL450 is $20K more at base price. Since you want to cherry pick how far back you want to go. "X" denotes top sales for that year. MB GL ----------------- 2006--18,776 2007--26,396 2008--23,328 2009--15,012 2010--19,943 2011--25,139 2012--26,042-X 2013--29,912-X 2014--26,597 Cadillac Escalade (including all THREE variants, not just two) 2006--62,206-X 2007--60,991-X 2008--39,710-X 2009--25,884-X 2010--26,874-X 2011--25,503-X 2012--22,632 2013--22,514 2014--30,522-X More often than not, the Escalade leads and for $20K less on average (even more so when you want to add in the EL63) Again, color me unimpressed with a vehicle that requires you to fork over $20K more to have nominally better performance. Could't help but notice you dodged my statement about MB ditching the V6 much in the way you want Cadillac to ditch the 4 cylinder on the CT6.

Not a fan either and overall the spy shot does not make the interior of the Conti look very "upscale" but I don't put too much stock into spy shots honestly. Not digging the top of the center stack though or the blockish look around the gauges.

And coming soon, shiny wood trim. Seems to be targeting the same folks as the LaCrosse (although the LaCrosse interior looks "sleeker" and more upscale in that pic). http://www.motortrend.com/news/2017-lincoln-continental-interior-spied-with-shiny-wood-trim/

Cadillac News: Cadillac Faces A Conundrum With the Escalade
That GL63 starts at $121K so why are you comparing it to an Escalade at that price point, when the Slade starts at $50K CHEAPER? To even get into a V8 GL, you need $20K more than you would for a V8 Escalade. MB should really have a V8 GL that starts at a similar price point as the Slade and forgo the V6 altogether since it is only $6K cheaper than the Slade. Funny how the logic you use on Cadillac can easily be applied to Mercedes. The only difference is that you will have no fewer than five excuses why that is okay for MB but not for Cadillac.

R&T Tests Mustang GT, Camaro SS
That SS continues to impress and make itself worthy of the higher sticker price. The facts do not lie at this point.

"I'm liking it. " Top post on the second page, brah. lol Yes and it is also post #3 on the first page: "I'm liking this design!" Under the definition of the word "redundancy" it says "see redundant" (credit to the late great Robin Williams there). LOL!

I'll reserve final judgement until it actually gets a full reveal but it has been tamed down a bit from the concept. Kind of indifferent to it right now.

Cadillac News: Cadillac Faces A Conundrum With the Escalade
If you actually believe that MB plans on building a 550HP electric crossover for $55K, then that perfectly illustrates your problem with expectations of the competition, not to mention that is not even close to the price that it will go for. Seriously. Completely agree. There is no way MB would produce an SUV with a 550hp electric drive-train and it would only cost 55k. That's basically starting price of a GLE. Exactly. His description would put it closer to $155K.

Cadillac News: Cadillac Faces A Conundrum With the Escalade
Why do you continue to ignore the fact that the CT6 has a TTV6 as well as a V8 on the way? Why do you always fixate on one little minor detail that means nothing to anyone but you? Also, seeing as how the CT6 JUST came out, it is short sighted to say that no one wants it. Newsflash, no one wanted the Fleetwood anymore in case you were a little rusty on the history of that nameplate. If you actually believe that MB plans on building a 550HP electric crossover for $55K, then that perfectly illustrates your problem with expectations of the competition, not to mention that is not even close to the price that it will go for. Seriously.

Cadillac News: Cadillac Faces A Conundrum With the Escalade
The Escalade is what people want or did you miss the part about it being the best selling full size luxury SUV. My point to you was that Mercedes has no problem putting that "throwback" SUV on the same lot as their newly designed luxo cars, so Cadillac should not have to worry about it on that level either, and at least theirs actually sells. Clearly the customers have no problem with the Slade based on that little fact alone.

Report on Early Tesla Model S Claims two thirds will need powertrain replacement before 60,000 miles
That's right... your Colorado starts to make a funny noise under the hood, so Chevrolet has a standard policy of REPLACING THE ENTIRE V6 ENGINE, TRANSMISSION, AND FOUR WHEEL DRIVE components. </fanstasyworld> GM has needed to replace more timing chains on the 3.6 V6 than Tesla has built cars. Stop spreading F.U.D. You beat me to it. Knew there was a slanted agenda to this just by the title of the thread. "Oh Hi, I didn't actually read what the subject was actually about"! Lol

Tesla Increases Lobbying Efforts To Break Into Michigan
I see what you're saying but part of concentrating on the product is putting it in more markets to sell more product. There are plenty of states left to tackle besides Michigan. Musk knows how to grab PR: just pick a fight with the state where the mainstream media has a hate-on for their major industry. Clever. But still prohibitively expensive. How is it expensive for Tesla? Given the amount of lobbying, i.e. money giving, the old guard has been doing to try and stop Tesla from selling there, I'd say it is going to be more expensive for them in the long run. Just my opinion though. It makes sense for them to try and sell in the car capital of the country. It's a no brainer in fact. On the VW group is implicated in that, not Mercedes or BMW (so far anyway).

That's tough to say. It didn't feel more responsive to me during the week I had it. Maybe it's for the 2016 models. It's bummer if they don't have that worked out yet otherwise. Of course, the more sensible solution is physical buttons. All that touchscreen non sense would drive me bonkers.
