  1. I'll pick the 2008 SL500 The only Corvette I'd ever consider is the '78/'79 C3 with the mouse L48 5.7L
  2. Why did you not include A4 and ATS sales figures in your summary? Because it specifically says MID-LARGE. Why limit to make your point? Why not include all competing sedans from both mfg's? Why does it matter so much to you? He laid it out clear as day so splitting hairs over it is just silly. What does it matter to you that I find his selective sales comparison odd?

  5. Wow for Lincoln! Almost 10k is sales for April 2016, right on the heels of their cross town rival. 71k F-Series! Nice there also. Mustang at almost 13k! Transit doing well!

  9. Its a pre production car. I will wait to pass judgement when these are rolling off the assembly line.
  10. I am willing to bet that sewing job was not performed on an assembly line. . And you think it makes it okay given that this was the car they chose to show the automotive world? Didn't say anything of the sort.
  11. Bell ordered one, eh?? Gettin rid of the ole Jag. That's exciting! I wish there was a good way to connect back to the handful of MT guys, like Bell, to keep in contact with them. Invite them here. I'll ask.

  13. " Et tu, Fiat? Fiat is the latest automaker to come under suspicion for excessive emissions from its diesel vehicles. So far the trouble is only in Germany, as opposed to VW's trouble in multiple countries. And instead of using VW's method of installing software that identifies when the car is undergoing an emissions test and only then turning on emissions control devices, Fiat is running out the clock. Because the German emissions test lasts around 20 minutes, Fiat is accused of having its NOx emissions control systems operate only for the first 22 minutes when the car starts up. 14. Nope. Make one wonder how their earnings can be so low with such dated vehicles. FCA should be raking in Gross/Net. But reports show differently.
  15. The country with the most mfg wins.
  16. Ford needs to capitalize on being the only 1/2 ton to earn IIHS Top Safety Pick and go on an advertising blitz.
  17. http://wardsauto.com/technology/aluminum-f-150-garners-more-safety-kudos "Additional development work was required to add the same protection in ’16 SuperCab and Regular Cab trucks, Levine says. Blocker bars in the ’16 Regular Cab should give it similar crashworthiness, however the IIHS did not test that model and did not issue a rating for it. " http://www.tfltruck.com/2016/04/2016-ford-f-150-bests-competition-and-is-the-only-pickup-to-get-iihs-top-safety-pick-rating-safety/ " All three cab styles of the 2016 Ford F-150 have been designed to perform well during small overlap front crash tests. The regular cab and Super Cab models received: wheel blockers, nylon hinge pillar reinforcements and rocker panel reinforcements. " Reading these excerpts, ALL 2016 F-150s utilize wheel blockers now.
  18. http://www.iihs.org/iihs/ratings/v/class-summary/large-pickups None of the single cabs are listed though. But all of the smaller cab configurations do have a worse rating as well. I have to assume they are all doing a similar thing with less bracing(of some sort) for the smaller, lighter cabs. Do you have a link? Maybe I just suck at searching..lol http://www.iihs.org/iihs/sr/statusreport/article/51/4/1 Click on the truck name. 19. Over at IIHS, weights as tested are available on the website in the technical data of this test. To keep things as even as possible, the trucks are optioned as closely as possible. The Ford comes in at 497lbs LESS than the Chevy.
  20. Fusion? And that 3.7L will have more HP and at least the same torque rating ( not sure on RPM or delivery, just like unsure on " all that mass " as you put it because nothing has ever been released ) as the the 4.6L InTech V8 from that 1996 Continental, ( 260/260 ) while only offering a 4spd auto and weighing in at 3,900lbs.
  21. Read post #16. They did not "go back to the drawing board". Why not more aluminum? Maybe cost vs advantage said, "aluminum isn't worth it on this piece". And the " added steel tubing " , if made of aluminum, cannot be welded to the High Strength Steel Chassis
  22. Pretty inexpensive and shows how much pricing in this market has fallen. The 1996 Continental had a MSRP base price of $41,800 and twenty years later this new, better equipped Continental is only $2,800 higher. Adjusting for inflation, the new Continental is nearly 30% cheaper! http://www.cars.com/lincoln/continental/1996/snapshot/
