Afterthoughts: What's the Right Size Vehicle?
I think the needs can be very individual, a single guy or a woman, young couple, a family with three of four kids have all very different needs and wants. Also, people here criticize size of the vehicle but then would choose biggest and the most power engine while half of the power would be more then sufficient I guess that's why we are car enthusiasts. However, I agree that it is better to try to go for the lower range of your particular wants and needs.

Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Review
Interesting. My car has staggered size from factory as well but the front rim can take same width tire as rear so i put square setup now, mostly for slightly better traction at the front for autocross. The only problem is when I put rear rims which are slightly wider and heavier on the front, it influences the steering, but not too dramatically.

Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Review
Thanks for the review. I actually was considering getting tires like that for my car next year. I currently have max performance summer and another set of winter rims and tires but winter set will last me only one more winter and the summer set, well with the mileage I am putting a year plus occasional autocross, kills them in slightly more then a year. So I was thinking to buy UHP all seasons next time. Seems these Continentals one of the best. Keep us updated how they hold up.

BMW News: 2018 BMW X3 Is Familiar, Yet Different
BS, if that would be a review of XT5 or Equinox nobody would mention how it handles off road.

BMW News: 2018 BMW X3 Is Familiar, Yet Different
Funny how you guys criticize X3 and X5 that nobody takes off road, but does anybody takes off road XT5 or Escalade for that matter? Come on, I am not BMW lover but lets put things in perspective. Majority of people I know that live where it snows want AWD for snow traction, nothing else. I would say very few Grand Cherokee owners take them off road either.

Dream car garage, elementary school edition...
I think I would convert Russian GAZ-66 into Overland rig instead of Unimog. Just as capable but most likely simpler and more reliable.

How do you separate preference from bias?
With all due respect I have been to many dealerships including GM and Ford and I haven't seen ANY difference among salesman. Chevy dealer was no better or worse then any other. I think it is much more dependent on an individual dealership and sales practices it allows. When I was buying car for my parents we have been in two Honda dealerships. In one after a test drive I told my parents we need to leave, it felt wrong all the way. Another dealer we went to was nothing but positive experience.

That is very nice if the whole family shares automotive passion. My dad drove manual almost all of his life but more out of necessity, he is no car enthusiast. I have tried to teach my wife but she doesn't really wants to. Actually, and very unfortunately non of my family or for that matter friends are car enthusiasts.

@A Horse With No Name wow, you have the whole family of car enthusiasts. That's great! Your wife drives stick as well?

From where I stand I don't see any difference between GM and Ford fanboys, and there is way more GM fanboys on this site then Ford

Honda News: 2017 Honda Civic Type R Begins At $34,775*, Only Comes In One Trim
It would be interesting if some magazine would do comparison between Civic type R, Golf R, Focus RS and maybe STi. I am not sure how it will compare in handling but 0-60 Civic is slower by about a second then the rest of these cars. Personally, it would not be my choice for a number of reasons.

Alternate Universe Dream Garage
I needed four dour car since I have kids and while my wife has our family car I often have to drive them places. If I would be buying my car 1-2 years later I would possibly go for used ATS 2.0T manual. At the time there were not any used ones and a new one was much more then I wanted to spend at the time. Another possibility at the time for me was WRX, but used ones keep ridiculously high price plus very likely abused and I didn't want to buy a new one considering how much I wanted to spend and how much I drive per year. At the end when I saw prices on used G37S sedans and found couple a reasonable distance from me it was a no brainer.
