I think he meant as a stock investor with a choice of investing in GM or Honda.
  3. wandered into Slessor the other day. They have a black XLR-V and Silver Escalade in the showroom. I can't imagine there are many buyers for the XLR-V in the Newmarket area. They had a red CTS-V on the lot for 8 months last year.

i drive a 1997 Regal GS with 210,000km. (approx 126,000miles). it appears that there is a small valve cover gasket leak. but doesn't seem to be an issue. no issues with road noise. run Toyo tires now, had goodyears originally. my dad had a 2001 Regal GS and put a different set of Toyo's on it. they were noticeably harder/louder than mine. long distance comfort - well, it could use some more lumbar support, but I just move the power seat around to change positions a bit.

it's about perception. the public perceives Honda's as better. I see tons of new Civics around Toronto. Even at the high interest rates. it kills me. and the Cobalt doesn't have anything going for it that would draw a Civic buyer into the showroom. by that I mean, it is boring looking. if it had some exterior style, panache, that would at least be something to draw in prospective buyers into the showroom, where guys like carbiz can 'sell' them on the reasons to buy a Cobalt vs Civic. (granted, the coupe SS has a look to it, and even the SS sedan is better looking that the base, but the cars you see running around the streets are mostly base models)

don't you want to come up some some stupid song or peom that says how great you are or quote some famous people that think you're the best thing to happen to the auto industry, since...... well, since Buickman.

go toot your own horn somewhere else. once again, your comment contributed 'nothing' to this thread.

BM is kinda like Maverick. he won't engage. I, like many others, having been waiting months now for a sane and rational 'discussion' between BM and the likes of evok and a few others. a discussion that doesn't end up in name calling, goofy song writing and self-proclomation. but it just never happens. BM, either step up to the plate and engage in an debate, or take you bat and glove and go home.

really? the brick makes that much difference? another hole in your theory. more reasons why GM needs to stick V8's in ALL their cars.

someone care to chop out the checkers!
  14. Go back and read it again. maybe they should offer them with standard V8's. i'm sure that would drive sales thru the roof, cause as well all know, americans want V8's!
  15. that's a LONG way to go to buy a car!!!
  16. might have to replace the Regal. anyone on here a new car dealer?

if you're concerned about grammar, spelling and using the correct words then you can have a full time job here on C&G, cause you can't go 1 page without spotting an error. some out of haste and some out of ignorance.

  20. i believe this is part of the reason the NG TB was altered/scrapped/shelved. ie. less investment was allocated to it. this segment is much, much more volatile wrt to gas prices than is the full size suv segment.
  21. 97regalGS replied to evok's post in a topic in Opinion
wtf - evok said that he sees less and less relevance of V8 engines in passenger cars. he said nothing about trucks. one would assume that V8's will remain in trucks for quite some time to come, which harkens back to the 'Death' title which clearly should not have in the title of the article. he framed the discussion - "V8's in passenger cars." others decided to bring in trucks. (if i made comments about VW's TDI being less relevant in the Golf does it make sense to start talking about the Duramax diesel in Chevy's HD lineup?) I don't think so. Again, the only reason that trucks enter the equation is because the title infers that the V8 is dead comletely. actually, I don't think you have grasped the thrust. if a DI 3.6l can deliver 300hp in the DTS, then why do we need a V8 option? the car will go 0-60 in 6+ seconds with the V6, is dropping the 0-60 to 6 flat going to make that big of a difference? Not to most consumers. To most of the gear heads on this board it is not acceptable but to the people that are actually out there buying new cars, it is not an issue. Today's V6's are delivering the performance of yesterday's V8's. At some point, to the average consumer, the law of diminishing returns starts to kick in where the benefit of moving to a V8 just isn't there. And I think we are reaching that point now. Think about it 300hp V6 engines! Who the hell needs that much hp? The answer is probably no one, but I'll leave it at a few. And just to really get you guys in a tizzy, can you imagine if the domestics didn't have the truck market to absorb the development dollars of their V8's. There would be no LS6/LS7, and if by chance there were (due to C5.R racing etc) they would cost a heck of a lot more than they do now due to the extremely low volumes in CARS.

I guess it would depend on who's mother we were talking about.

go back and re-read the original post. trucks were omitted cause they were not part of the original discussion. unfortunately, most of you haven't grapsed the thrust of evok's discussion but instead have migrated towards the title of the article and latched on to the word 'Death'.
