Edmunds Full Test: 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser
C/D just got done panning the element in the new issue. the FJ has the same door setup and an even worse interior. still i am sure they will laud the FJ. a person i work with has been waiting to get one of these FJ's. i doubt he's seen the horrific interior. i doubt he will back out. it says toyota on the name so that excuses its horsedung interior. the h3 is far nicer. hell, the caliber or nitro or compass or whatever is nicer. chery interiors are nicer.

Concept - Chrysler Imperial
chrysler is in a rut and clearly has no capacity to move on to other original designs anymore. this rolls knockoff is a farce. why not call it a kia amanti and move on with it.

Safest cars by insurance saftly institute
yeah the FWD 500 is under 3700 pounds.....not much more than the lavalon or buick products. it does feel heavy and secure and stout. SAFE, even.

Hyundai Sonata Breaks Into U.S. Top 10 Charts
big reasons cobalt on't sell....... -cheap aveos -small back seat the G6 started slow because of the new name. i fully expect the G6 to continue to increase as more and more yunguns find out about the new name. now that the 4 cylinder and GTP are available it will increase more. Once the GXP and manual 4 cylinder versions come on line we'll have a fully rounded product line.

Toyota Launches Fully Redesigned bB
you know, this vehicle is simply proof why toyota will never become a styling leader. no company that wants to be taken seriously in the styling arena would put garbage like this out, even if the m\homefried fan base eats it up.

its ok. not menacing, not a dud.

Motor Trend 2006 Car of the Year
the saturn motor, compared to the competition was buzzy and short on power output. but yes, it was a pretty good mill. the ecotec compares better.

Official NAIAS '06 Listings From Edmunds
what a bunch of dumb f8\*ckers at GM......Jesus Christ why is GM continuing to insist on leaving the HF v6 products out of their chevy and buick and pontiac products? the 3.9 is an ok pushrod engine but for crying out loud your continuing to get raped in the press and in the showroom and you keep REFUSING TO PUT YOUR BEST PRODUCT ON THE SHOWFLOOR. IDIOTS. Someone please, i struggle to get how someone shopping Pilots will want the Enclave with the shortchanging under the hood. The 5.3v8 is a great move, but dammit, get those HF v6's under the hood too! Do the guys running GM EVER pull the sht encrusted heads out of their asses? its to the point where we should line em up against the wall and flog them their moves are so stupid. really, what sort of dumb ASSES are planning product at GM? This is as bad as making the 3500 available in the Aura. I am completely perplexed.

EPA seeks improved fuel mileage standards
so far my 04 aztek reaches its city EPA ratings and my 06 500 does as well. in fact, both exceed them. however, they both come up slightly shy of the highway EPA ratings. i know hemis and hybrids get worse mileage than their stickers, but man...those numbers are NOT good. i wonder what the corvette's new numbers would be? my buddy who has a new pilot only gets 15mpg so i would hope that sort of shortage in mpg shows up in that sticker. i cannot imagine the crapline getting any better than that either.

GM was utterly clueless on how to build a 4 cylinder mill until the ecotec, now the ecotec is one of the few four cylinder motors that has great flexibility in the powerband and still gets good mpg and revs when asked. Its definitely better than toyotas 1.8 and while maybe not the epitome of the engineering that the honda is, is probably more agreeable for the driving that more of the population does.

so what is so significant about another typical run of the mill econobox then? NOTHING that should warrant COTY.

Hyundai Sonata Breaks Into U.S. Top 10 Charts
i guess i really just don't like cars that are overhyped for what you get. Cars like the Honda RL, car and driver puts it on the 10 best and its just a tarted up AWD accord with no back seat. I mean, c'mon. Can't you get an Audi S4 for the same price? There are tons of Import cars I like a LOT but what i don't like is cars that are overhyped, like the Camry. The Accord I can fathom to some degree because it is a great PERFORMER for the dollar, mostly. It also has pretty good build quality. Its styling is a notch ahead of the Camry. Passat, another example. The four cylinder with some options is a GREAT car. FUN, I'm not keen on all the styling of it, but you cannot argue against that combo for the value it brings. A loaded v6 Passat? NFW. The Mazda 6 gets all sorts of accolades. I happen to think its an average to mediocre car. Unless you need the manual transmission, you'll like the Galant much more as far as driving and engine power and space. To each their own, and the Mazda is cheap, but its not the great savior car they've made it to be. Nissan's products I am hot and cold on but in almost all cases I think their build quality needs work and their interiors have been horrific on some models. I'm not a Chrylser fan at all but i cannot eny they have struck a chord in the market. I have a soft spot for Ford and drive one again now, but aside from the Fusion I cannot proclaim them to be saviors. I bang nothing. I like lots of GM cars. I fail to see the passion in Toyotas products and the bulk of what they sell is snoozeville. They make reliable cars. I won't say they make solid cars. They are precise and delicate. i wonder if they really survive well rust happy salty cold climates and pothole encrusted roadways. I think true domestic products are more solid, even if some more things break down from time to time. I don't think import brands build cars that have as solid a sheetmetal, glass, frames, chassis, suspensions. I thnk doemstics are built to better withstand most crashes. i like what i like. The only significance the U.A.S. Hyundai Sonata brings to market that other cars don't have is more features for price, and a lower price. a longer warranty. no one would buy hyundais if it weren't for the warranty. its hyundai's 'incentive'. its built into the cost of the car, much like GM's marketing incentives are built into their MSRP's. The sonata is not class leading in any category, it simply does well in all, but leads in none. in many aspects of desirability (gotta have it as car and driver would say) the sontat is completely and utterly mediocre. i guess that's what america wants. take away price and warranty from this car and you have a really good camry wannabe. that's it. no one will rememeber this car in 10 years, much less five.

Hyundai Sonata Breaks Into U.S. Top 10 Charts
my sister still regrets getting rid of her focus and getting an elantra. my brother in law says its a pile of crap in comparison. this newest sonata is the first hyundai (along with the tiburon) that can't be looked on as bargain basement crap, but the new sonata is still deficient in overall desirability. why anyone would buy a sonata over even an accord is beyond me. my neighbor across the street who works for Dodge in some form says all sorts of folks are buying hyundais abnd finding out how they don't have much value beyond 4-5 years. He says they need everybit of warranty they have on them. The salespeople at the mits dealer i shopped at when i had my diamante even wondered why so many people bought the older sonatas and stuff when the galants were much more solid and reliable. i don't doubt that hyundai has their sht together with this new sonata, but still it comes to market as a desirable PRICE, not a desirable CAR.

The Stalk
yup. my diamante had it perfect. wipers on right. turn signals on left stalk. auto headlights were twist on left stalk but were auto off so i never had to turn that on or off. cruise on steering wheel. all as God intended.

Motor Trend 2006 Car of the Year
i might have to try one, just to see how much it sucks. i cannot imagine spinning 7000 rpm for any motivation to be fun. The Vibe GT i drove needed to be wound to 6000 rpm to get out of its own way, and it was loud and noisy and in general totally unsatisfying. if the civic has a torque band and is powerless like that, then there's no reason for me to drive a civic
